Study of Fish Biodiversity from Lower Dudhana Project at Parbhani District, India
Ecological diversity of aquatic system is affected due to different environmental factors and manmade activities, it is necessary to record the diversity of system. Biodiversity of fishes from Lower Dudhana Project reservoir 43 species of 28 genera belonging to 14 families and 8 orders of fish has been observed. Amongst the orders of fishes Cypriniformes were most dominant (51%) in lower Dudhana project at Parbhani district.

Biodiversity specifies the potential of any aquatic system and also represents its trophic status. It is very much necessary to have a sufficient knowledge of the constituent biota especially for the purpose of conservation and management of the inland water resources such as rivers, reservoirs and ponds. The present study deals with the diversity of fish fauna found in Indrapuri Dam of district Rohtas. The diversity of fish fauna has never been studied in the Indrapuri dam of district Rohtas. Assessment of Fish diversity of Tunga River, Karnataka, India
In the present study, an effort has been made to investigate the fish resources quantitatively by studying the ichthyofaunal biodiversity of Tunga River stretch from Gajanoor fishing village to Kudali of Shivamogga district. Monthly sampling was conducted at three centres during July 2010-June 2012 by using gill nets. A total of 45491 kg fishes from three landing centres were collected and Gondichatnalli recorded maximum followed by Shivamogga and Honnapura. The most abundant fish species was Calta catla (28%) followed by Labeo rohita (17%) and Clarias gariepinus (11%). During present investigation a total of 37 species belonging to 11 families and 4 orders were recorded. The order Cypriniformes found to be dominant with 23 fish species followed by Siluriformes 11 species and Perciformes 2 species. Although, 37 species were recorded, the family Cyprinidae recorded 19 fish species (51.35%) followed by Bagridae, 4 fish species (10.81%) and Claridae with 3 fish species (8.10%) each. The Simpson's index of diversity (1-Lambda') was highest in Gondichatnalli (0.8802) followed by Shivamogga (0.8580) and Honnapura (0.8523). This indicated the greater fish biodiversity in Gondichatnalli when compared to other two centres. The biomass of fish species was more in Gondichatnalli (S= 36, N=19014) followed by Shivamogga (S =31, N= 14671), and Honnapura (S =37, N= 11806). Further, the other indices such as Pielou's evenness (J'), Shannon H'(loge) and Simpson 1-Lambda' were also used to assess the richness of biodiversity of all the three fish landing centres. In this study an attempt has been made to evaluate the ichthyofaunal diversity in the region and suggests mitigating measures.

An attempt was made to systematically study the fish diversity and assemblage patterns in response to limnological dynamics of Chambal river basin in central India. A total of 56 fish species belonging to 09 orders, 18 families and 39 genera were recorded in the present study. Group-wise distribution of fishes showed that catfishes were the most dominant (23.21%). The most dominant species as per total relative abundance of the river was Glossogobius giuris (6.84%). The abundance of fishes was found to be highest in winter. Six fish diversity indices-Shannon-Wiener, Dominance, Simpson, Margalef, Evenness and Equitability indices were calculated and ranged 3.
FISH SPECIES DISTRIBUTION AND DIVERSITY INDICES OF KISHTWAR WATERBODIES-J&K, INDIA

Fish fauna is an essential component of the aquatic ecosystem, and any change in the medium in which they live can have an impact on their productivity, diversity, and distribution. From 2016 to 2018, an inventory was carried out to investigate the diversity, distribution, richness and evenness of fish assemblages from waterbodies in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir state. Dominance, Shannon index, Margalef index, Equitability, Evenness and Simpson indices were calculated for the study stations. The investigation revealed the presence of four fish species belonging to four genera, three families and three orders. Cyprinidea fishes had the highest species richness (50%) followed by Salmonidea (25%) and Sisoridae (25%). The findings revealed a significant decrease from upstream to the river estuary. Oncorhynchus mykiss and Cyprinus carpio were reported for the first time by the author from the study area.
Assessment of Fish Biodiversity in Upper Mullamari Reservoir, Basavakalyan, Karnataka (India)
The present investigation was carried out in Upper Mullamari Reservoir situated in Bidar district, Karnataka. Monthly sampling was done in three fish landing centers viz, Kherda, Sharannagar, and Mashala. During the study period, it was observed that the 32 species of finfishes belonging to 26 genera, 14 families and 6 orders were recorded. Among them Cypriniformes represented 17 species followed by Siluriformes (9), Perciformes (3) and order Symbracnhiformes, Osteoglossiformes and Clupiformes contributed one species each. The Simpson's index of diversity (1-Lambda') was highest in Kherda (0.894) followed by Mashala (0.893) and Sharannagar (0.860). This indicated that the greater fish biodiversity in Kherda fish landing centre when compared to other two centers. The abundance of fish species was more in Sharannagar (S= 23, N=423) followed by Kherda (S =28, N= 403), and Mashala (S =27, N= 322).
The present study has shown that studied Hooghly river sector supported 87 fish species belonging to 12 orders, 39 families and 69 genera. The order Perciformes was dominant with 8 families and 25 number of fish species followed by the order Siluriformes with 8 families and 24 number of fish species. Fish diversity was assessed by calculating the various diversity indices such as Shannon-Wiener index (H /), Simpson's dominance index (C) and evenness index (J). Higher H / value (3.694) observed in post monsoon and lowest (2.398) in monsoon. High evenness value (0.6930) was recorded during monsoon period. Seasonal water quality parameters such as water temperature (o C), pH, DO, nitrate and phosphates has been recorded and were found suitable for fish population.
Fish Diversity at Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project Area in Mahakali River
A study was carried out to prepare a baseline information on water quality and freshwater fish diversity at Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project area in Mahakali river. The study was conducted in autumn (October 2008) and summer (June 2009). A total of 24 fish species belonging to 3 orders, 4 families and 13 genera were recorded during the investigation period. Cypriniformes was the most dominant order accounting 75% of total fish species. Siluriformes and Synbranchiformes accounted for 21% and 4% of fish species composition respectively. Spawning and rearing areas in study sites were evenly distributed providing a suitable habitat for both cold and warm water fish species. The water quality parameters, i.e., water temperature (20.50-22.63 0 C), DO (8.58-11.85 mg/l) and pH (6.93-7.20) were found within the suitable range supporting diverse fish species.

The present investigation undertakes to study endemic and threatened fish species and its assemblage structure from rivers of Kolhapur district for the period July-2012 to December-2014. The study area is situated in the extreme Southern part of Maharashtra state. It contributes much more part of Western Ghats. A total of 23 species belonging to 7 families and 19 genera were reported. In which 9 species are threatened and 20 species are endemic to Western Ghats, we found that 6 species are threatened as well as endemic. Puntius sahyadriensis, Nemacheilus anguilla, Pterocryptis wynaadensis and Glyptothorax trewavasae are first time reported from Kolhapur district. High Shannon diversity index shows considerable variation and ranges from 1.34-2.43. Margalef's diversity index and Evenness index for each sampling site were also recorded. The similarity in cluster analysis from nearby sampling site along the river has similar faunal assemblage. The problems related to various threats for aquatic biodiversity and conservation management strategies have been discussed.
Status of Fish Biodiversity in some selected reservoirs of Bundelkhand region of India

In the present communication the authors describe the diversity of freshwater fishes in the Bundelkhand region of India. On the basis of available research there are 93 species of fishes reported in Bundelkhand. These fishes comprised of 6 orders and 18 families. Out of six orders Cypriniformes (55%) is the most abundant order in this region followed by Siluriformes (24%), Persiformes (15%), Synbranchiformes (3%), Osteoglossiformes (2%) and Beloniformes (1%). Out of eighteen families the Cyprinidae is the most prevalent among all families. The Result showed 66 fish species found in district Damoh followed by 50 species in Panna, 27 species in Lalitpur, 27 species in Chhatarpur, 21 species in Sagar and 19 species of fishes in Jhansi.
