. Estes trabalhos integram-se no projecto "Death materialization and life cicle (south-central Sardinia): Technologies and interdisciplinary studies in the detection and preservation of archaeological remains", coordenado pelo Instituto Politécnico de Tomar. Giovanni Murgia, located in Funtana Arrubia area, Nurallao region (Sardinia). These works are integrated in the project "Death materialization and life cicle (south-central Sardinia): Technologies and interdisciplinary studies in the detection and preservation of archaeological remains". This project stemmed from the need to investigate the human occupation of the Nurallao landscape, starting from prehistoric times until the Roman period. Some of our aims were to understand the rituals and cults, the changes and continuities, the relations between the indigenous and the cultures that, at certain time, start to occupy this regions, the architectures, ideologies and actions.
This paper presents the research method applied to the Archaeological Map of Italy -Forma Italiae project, comprising to date the Ager Venusinus project (completed) and the Ager Lucerinus project (ongoing). The methodology of the project is based on the extensive and systematic survey of the entire selected district. The countryside is systematically searched by groups of students and researchers in different seasons, time of the day, weather and visibility conditions, and status of cultivation of the ground. The GPS georeferenced data are integrated in a GIS specifically realised. The results of the research projects relating to the territory of the Luceria's colony, in Apulia, starting from the area of the medieval site of Montecorvino, in the Daunian district is presented. So far the part of the vast territory of Lucera studied concerns the area North-East of the ancient Latin colony. Discussed here are studies conducted on the western area, towards the Daunian subappennine and in particular focused on the territory of the municipalities of Lucera, Pietramontecorvino, Motta Montecorvino, and Volturino. This area, in fact, is the object of research that includes the whole of the Fortore River valley. The data emerging from recent surveys show a large population over the time-span from prehistory to the High Middle Ages. The settlements of the Neolithic and Bronze ages, so far identified, are placed on vast plains; on the northern sector of the territory, it is possible to catch a glimpse of traces of a village characterised by the typical C shaped ditch, with huts located inside. A very interesting part of our project regards Dauni and Samnite settlements in the period preceding the arrival of the Romans and the Romanisation of the area. The most notable transformations in the ancient landscape were undoubtedly produced by the Roman intervention that gave birth to the new colony and the planning of the village centre, which consequently led to the reorganisation of a vast territory and the division of the rural area into a dense network of small properties assigned to the settlers.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCHES IN THE ANULÙ (SEUI) PLATEAU. THE EXCAVATION OF THE TOMB OF THE GIANTS, PRELIMINARY NEWS. The archaeological complex of Anulù is located by the state forest of Montarby (municipality of Seui) and it consists of a nuraghe, a tomb of the giants and a shed agglomerate composed of 21 structures in good condition. The nuraghe, build with local limestone, is placed on the outcropping rock, which is an integral part of the brickwork. The analysis, which was conducted during an intervention financed by the municipality of Seui, has allowed to detect the trend of the brickwork and to suppose some of the peculiarities of the structure, which rises in a position with wide visual domain. At the edge of the settlement, it has been detected a tomb of the giants which is the object of an intervention of excavation and consolidation still in progress. In this contribution are communicated the results of the survey activity and the first excavation campaign.
In 2015, the Museo Egizio in Turin joined the Leiden expedition to Saqqara, in the area south of the Unas causeway. This report presents the expedition's new approach as well as some first results of this new cooperation. In the 2018 season, the Leiden-Turin expedition worked in the northern sector of its concession, covering an area of ca. 250 sqm just north of the tomb of Maya. Here Late Antique layers overlie a wind-blown deposit containing some simple burials and numerous "embalmers' caches", some of which yielded marl clay cups with hieratic labels. An overview of both the pottery and the human remains found during this season is provided in the present report. Below the wind-blown deposit is a level with Ramesside funerary chapels and shafts. One of them has a remarkable decoration including six small-format figures carved in high relief in the middle of its back wall. The shaft of another chapel was also excavated, revealing several plundered chambers which yielded only scanty finds. A large mud-brick wall exposed during the previous season turned out to belong to the outer wall and pylon entrance of a monumental tomb, whose owner's name has not been found yet. A photogrammetric survey by a team of the Politecnico di Milano yielded a 3D model of the dig (included in the web version of this report), as well as several 3D models of the monumental tombs (completed or in the making). During the season, conservation work was carried out on several tombs and on the newly discovered Ramesside chapel.
