A Research Paper About Muslims in Tanzania (original) (raw)
Tanzania is a country in East Africa in the African Great Lakes region. It borders Uganda to the north; Kenya to the northeast; the Comoro Islands and the Indian Ocean to the east; Mozambique and Malawi to the south; Zambia to the southwest; and Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. According to the census of 2018, Tanzania's population is at 56.31 million, composed of about 120 ethnics. A 2010 Pew Forum survey estimates approximately 61 percent of the population is Christian, 35 percent Muslim, and 4 percent other religious groups. Hence, Islam is the next largest religion in the country after Christianity. Sometimes it is said that almost half of the population is Islam. This could be right when we accept that more than 90% of Zanzibar Island's population is Muslim.
