Relationship Between Leaders and Followers As A Predictor of Organizational Commitment and Organizational Comitment and Job Satisfaction (original) (raw)
This study was conducted to measure the effect of relationship between leaders and followers (i.e., participative and consultative leadership styles) on employee outcomes (i.e., organizational commitment and job satisfaction) using 150 usable questionnaires gathered from employees who have worked in a city based local authority in Sarawak, Malaysia. Outcomes of stepwise regression analysis showed four important findings: first, participative style significantly correlated with organizational commitment. Second, consultative style significantly correlated with organizational commitment. Third, participative style significantly correlated with job satisfaction. Fourth, consultative style significantly correlated with job satisfaction. Further, this result confirms that relationship between leaders and followers has been an important predictor of organizational commitment and job satisfaction in the studied organization. In addition, discussion, implications and conclusion are elaborated.
