Using Blockchain for Data Collection in the Automotive Industry Sector: A Literature Review
Journal of Cybersecurity and Privacy
Today’s cars can share data with other cars, automakers, and service providers. Shared data can help improve the driving experience, the performance of the car, and the traffic situations. Among all data-collection techniques, blockchain technology offers an immutable and secure solution to support data collection in the automotive industry. Despite its advantages, collecting auto data with blockchain still faces several challenges. Thus, the purpose of this study was to conduct a review of published articles that have addressed the challenges of adopting blockchain for data collection in the automotive industry. This paper allowed us to answer the predefined research question: “What are the challenges of using blockchain for data collection in the automotive industry as presented in the published literature?” The review included articles published from 2017 to January 2022, and from the screened records, 13 articles were analyzed in full-text form. The founded challenges were categ...
Blockchain in Automotive Supply Chain
International Supply Chain Technology Journal, 2020
This paper describes a summary of info flows and technology, allowing the supply chain within the automotive industry. The supply base of many motorized manufacturers is being restructured, with great consequence for the way dealers connect with their automotive partners. Electronic data interchange (EDI) is by far the most common communication technique used in automotive manufacturing, though new approaches are used as well. All these methods and how they support the information flows are explained in more detail. Companies attempt to companies are trying to find ways to recover their elasticity and responsiveness and in turn competitiveness by changing their operations plan, methods and skills that include the implementation of Supply Chain Management (SCM) paradigm. Hence, Blockchain can enhance the agility of SCM. However, blockchain's impact on SCM is not equivalent. In this paper, we specify the areas that are blockchain effects on the automotive supply chain and evaluate it.
Blockchain and IoTA Systems for Automotive sector: A Comparative Analysis
2020
In the last years the automotive sectors are affected by the effect of the innovation digital technologies in several vertical applications. In this ecosystem, the automotive sector is also impacted by the adaption of innovative technologies as blockchain and IoTA as decentralized network systems. In the first part of the paper the authors provide a first analysis of the two systems. In the second, a comparison analysis is presented and commented.
Blockchain in Automotive Domain
The "Blockchain" is a revolutionary database that does away with the weaknesses of traditional solutions for storing big data. It provides a transparent record of the entire business network, allowing buyers and sellers of each vehicle to track where the vehicle is in its lifecycle. The blockchain as a technology is more of a ledger recording "agreements." It is a system which contains a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using blockchain-based Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) encryption. It also provides a complete history of "deals" made between two or more parties, in which the record cannot be altered retroactively without the alteration of all subsequent blocks and the collusion of the network.
Blockchain in supply chain management in automotive industry: Systematic literature review
Strategic Management
Background: Although Blockchain Technology (BT) is one of the innovations that has considerable potential to improve business processes and enable new services for potential users, its implementation in supply chain management (SCM) of the automotive industry is only at its beginnings. From the growing number of publications focused on this issue, it is evident that the application of BT would significantly contribute to the development of the automotive industry and improve the supply chain of automotive components. Purpose: In this regard, the paper aims to analyze the challenges to the implementation of BT in SCM in the automotive industry sector through a systematic review of the literature and precise definition of the advantages and limitations that appear in supply chains after the application of BT. Study design/methodology/approach: The research is based on the application of systematic literature review methods. The paper presents the results and conclusions of 21 studies ...
How Blockchain Make Better the Supply Chain in the Automotive Industry
International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology, 2020
The traditional SC is a model that meets the supply expectations of intermediaries. There are gaps in this model, such as relationships between members of the supply chain or consumers' ignorance of information about the source of the products. This article presents a new SC model with Blockchain. To do this, we carried out a comparison between the traditional supply chain and the new chain with the Blockchain in order to designate a model that meets our needs. This BKC method is a new technology that offers effective and confident solutions in businesses. This new model reinforces the reliability of the system based on transparency and traceability in all chain operations, assets and financial means and removes many of the disadvantages of the traditional supply chain. In addition, the Blockchain coordinates all transactions and multi-agents in the SC
Blockchain Application in Manufacturing Industry – Bibliometric and Systemic Analysis
2020
Blockchain technology provides secure, reliable and transparent solutions to different challenges arising from the growing need for connectivity presented nowadays. Recent developments in industrial processes sets fertile ground for the application of this technology. Aiming to understand the state of the art of blockchain technology application in the manufacturing industry, this study presents an investigation of relevant publications on the subject, including also bibliometric and systemic analyzes. 30 articles of major relevance were selected from a portfolio of 1432 publications, presented between 2015 and 2019. Thus, it was possible to identify research trends and opportunities.
Blockchain for automotive: An insight towards the IPFS blockchain-based auto insurance sector
International Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2021
The advancing technology and industrial revolution have taken the automotive industry by storm in recent times. The auto sector's constantly growing demand has paved the way for the automobile sector to embrace new technologies and disruptive innovations. The multi-trillion dollar, complex auto insurance sector is still stuck in the regulations of the past. Most of the customers still contact the insurance company by phone to buy new policies and process existing insurance claims. The customers still face the risk of fraudulent online brokers, as policies are mostly signed and processed on papers which often require human supervision, with a risk of error. The insurance sector faces a threat of failure due to losing and misconception of policies and information. We present a decentralized IPFS and blockchain-based framework for the auto insurance sector that regulates the activities in terms of insurance claims for automobiles and automates payments. This article also discusses how blockchain technology's features can be useful for the decentralized autonomous vehicle's ecosystem.
