Coins from hill fort in minzcabinet in Vilna emperor university (1803-1832). Among 35 cufic coins dating back to 2nd decade of 8th c. — 5th decade of 10th c., 20 coins had been stored in Minzcabinet in Vilnia Emperor University (1803—1832) and were found on the territory of Benedictian monastery at Garadzishcha villiage not far from Pinsk (currently Pinsk district, Brest region). The coins were transmitted in two groups by the same person in 1825. It must have been a treasure of 20 dirhems of Abbasid dynasty (2nd half of 8,h c.—early 9Ih c.) and two treasure complexes, one of which contains 4 Samanid dynasty dirhems dating back to the 1st half of 10lh c. The probable place of coins’ burial is a trade-and-handicraft settlement of 9th — early lllh cc., on the territory of which a monastery was built. The map of cufic coins’ locations in Brest region was enlarged by the sixth site. The fact and the document of the coins’ transmission, completed by chair canon of Lutsk M Gerbut can be considered evidence of the enlightened circles’ rising interest in the history of the province and its cultural heritage in early 19th c.
