Aspects Regarding Classroom Management and its Part in Making the Educational Process More Effective

Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2014

The management of a classroom of pupils involves the orchestration and coordination of the entire learning process, so that it would be as effective and productive as possible. This complex process merges with the action of creating a positive learning environment, both as the physical space is concerned, and through the totality of the essential elements of the pupils' personalities. Starting from the premise that the pupils' opinions can provide us clues regarding how to promote a top managerial process in schools, we conducted, over the course of the academic year 2012-2013, an inquiry in a target group formed of middle-school-aged pupils. Managing a group of pupils is a practical expression of the actions taken to improve the educational act, both from an institutional standpoint, and from the perspective of creating the framework and conditions for a more productive activity. The change in the pupils' position, from mere "receivers" of dispositions and orders, to collaborators does not exclude the teacher's authority, which must be based on competence, freshness of view, originality, imagination, opportunity, and pertinence of reflections and solutions (Albu, 1998, p. 171).

Classroom Management for Effective Teaching and Learning: The Implication for Teacher control Techniques

This paper critically examined the concept of classroom management and x-rayed how learning environment promote classroom management. It vividly explained teachers control techniques in the classroom such as reinforcement of sanctioned behaviour, attacking the deviancy and not the person, careful use of punishment among others. The paper discussed clearly the ways of inculcating discipline in the classroom such as: teachers conscientiously preparing and teaching their lesson, being friendly, considerate and helping the students with their problems. Teacher should also involve pupils in making rules and regulations that guide them. It concluded that pupils will not gain anything unless there is order in the classroom. Order can be achieved if the pupils are treated fairly, held responsible for their action and gainfully occupied. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT FOR NOVICE TEACHERS: KEY TO HARMONIOUS TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS

This study aims to explore the different factors influencing students` behavior resulting to several classroom management issues and problems as well as tips how to address these in order to help improve the academic achievement of the students. How to manage classroom setting effectively has been a principal concern for teachers especially those who are just new to the real field (teachers in their first year of teaching and student teachers ) since they are seen to be either too idealistic or having lack of knowledge and experience. A lack of classroom management affects both the teacher and the students. Different studies already showed that several form of interventions and strategies make a positive impact on teachers, students, and the whole school community. Teachers need to personally connect with each student in the classroom by identifying the factors that caused different classroom management issues to arise to prevent or address these as soon as possible in order to make students feel comfortable and welcome in a conducive learning environment.

Classroom management in the teaching practice at primary school

The main purpose of our research was to investigate how to manage a primary school class. In the theoretical section of our study, we noticed that scientific literature about this topic emphasizes the historical shift from disciplining students to managing a class. This change is particularly important for creating better relationships between teachers and students, thus achieving an effective learning. In the empirical section, we collected opinions from a group of teachers from primary schools in Istria and Rijeka about perception of conduct by means of a standardized questionnaire. The obtained results are interesting: teachers perceive collaboration among students, teachers and parents as a considerably important factor which influences the behaviour of the class in a positive way. These results also indicate that pre-established rules of correct behaviour create a more mature sense of responsibility in children of such young age.

Strategies for Effective Classroom Management

Abstract Managing the classroom is a challenge that all teachers face, and the decisions and actions a teacher takes in this area are extremely influential. In this paper, we discuss different aspects of classroom management and the importance of creating a plan before the academic year begins. Every teacher faces a challenge when it comes to managing his or her classroom. The decisions and actions a teacher takes in this area can be the difference between peaceful productivity and complete chaos. The actions and attitudes of the teacher during the first few class sessions set the tone for the rest of the term. Although some management techniques will change depending on the students and grade level, many of the underlying basic strategies of classroom management remain the same. The strategies discussed in this paper involve rules, the learning environment, student engagement, good teaching, motivating the students etc., One of the greatest challenges of managing the classroom is to keep students motivated and involved. In order to make the students actively learn, they must be fully engaged and must be involved in participation during the entire learning process. Student engagement involves more than just holding their attention.
