In Turkey, the number of international students studying at the university level is 185,001 according to the Higher Education Council. Before starting their university education, international students are supposed to learn Turkish for two terms at the Turkish Learning, Research and Application Centers (TÖMER), if they cannot fulfill the requirement to pass the Turkish proficiency exam. When they start their departmental education, although they learn Turkish for two semesters at TÖMER, they have difficulty in all of the four language skills in aspect of academic Turkish. The main purposes of this research are to determine academic Turkish needs of international students at the universities in Turkey and to prepare a sample content for academic Turkish course in the light of the data obtained and previous research on academic language teaching. In this research, mixed method was adopted and the descriptive sequential design was used. In the quantitative part of the study, a 5-likert scale questionnaire was applied to 462 international students and the data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive methods. In the qualitative part of the study, face to face interviews were conducted with 15 instructors by using a semi-structured interview form. Sample academic Turkish course content was prepared in line with the findings obtained.
