In this project, the idea of a smart electricity billing system using an ARM-7 microcontroller has been developed. Due to this concept, it provides a well-planned cost management of electricity billing. The existing energy billing systems are discrete, inaccurate, expensive and time-consuming. They are also time and labor consuming.". After getting the power consumption the ARM processor will detect the unit pulse and the unit will be converted as per our currency based on government tariff values and displayed on the LCD screen for a specific user. Smart electricity billing system also reduces the error made by humans while taking readings to a large extent and there is no...
An IoT based Electric meter Billing System
IRJET, 2023
For usage in residences, workplaces, factories, etc., we created an automated electrical energy meter billing system based on IoT (Internet of Things). Electricity has evolved into one of the fundamental needs for human existence, and it is used extensively for industrial, commercial, and agricultural reasons. Customers frequently express dissatisfaction with electrical network maintenance. They complain that their monthly bills contain statistical mistakes. Therefore, we offer suggestions to avoid technological errors while also attempting to lessen reliance on a human. Additionally, IoT is a key idea utilized in this work (Internet of Things). IoT is a new technology that can send data across a network without requiring human or computer intervention and has unique identifiers. Through the use of this technology, we have attempted to communicate the whole energy usage data via email from a remote site to the customer and electricity board. In addition, we have developed a unique website and uploaded the meter readings there. Customers can regulate the electricity in the proposed system, periodically knowing how much energy they are using. Through the Wi-Fi module, the created invoice can be seen on the web page. The customer may pay the invoice as scheduled. We can use power more effectively and lower the amount of money that the government loses. The implementation of IoT will help better management, conservation of energy and also in doing away with the unnecessary hassles over incorrect billing in electricity modules. Further the IoT will be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a number of different devices.

Each time a person is required from the electricity board authority to collect the reading of energy meter and create a bill to the consumer. But this created a problem because the manual reading needs manpower, time consuming and may cause an error. This paper present an Internet of Things (IOT) based smart energy meter. Smart energy meter is introduced to overcome the above stated problem by providing the facilities of automatic reading of meter and automatic connection & disconnection can be made based on the electricity bill payment of consumer through IOT. The proposed system consists of both hardware and software for monitoring the various parameters like voltage, current, energy and cost. This system sends the details of energy consumed by the consumer (kWh) & total bill amount to the consumer via Short Message Service (SMS) at the end of each billing period (Bi-monthly). In addition to that, consumer receives the SMS from the system when the usage of total energy exceeds certain limits based on tariff and the details of tariff are displayed in the website. The above concept is shown in prototype model and also simulated in PROTEUS software.

In this connected world, the development and widespread use of smart devices has led to a new beginning for machine-to-machine communication anytime and anywhere. As artificial intelligence spreads, this connectivity has created a completely different vision of the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT has led to the emergence of a virtual network between man and the physical world of various things, thus drastically changing the way various businesses operate. In this context, the paper below describes a system of reading electricity meters based on the IoT and integrated circuits containing microcontrollers known commercially as Arduino. In this paper we also present a remote electricity billing system. This billing process is faster and more efficient, enabling customers to pay their bills earlier.

As the advancement of technology and dependencies over the electrical appliances increases, the usage and requirement of electricity is also increases rapidly and the utilities are facing difficulties in collecting electric bill. The main aim of this paper is to make a system which will help in reducing the usage of electricity and which helps in bring transparency between the Electricity Board and the customers. This meter needs to be recharged similar to a mobile phone, payment for recharge can be done on app and can monitor the amount deduction, energy consumption, frequency, voltage and power fluctuation. User can also stop flow of electricity from remote location if the electricity is not in use. The energy measurement and billing system is automated. IOT based system that is capable of detecting power theft and identified can be sent to EB and customer.
IOT Based Smart Electric Meter
International Journal of Scientific Research in Computer Science, Engineering and Information Technology
Electricity plays a cardinal role in day to day life. The electrical energy consumption in India is the third biggest after China and USA with 5.5% global share in 2016. Due to manual work, our existing electricity billing system has major drawbacks. This system gives the information on meter reading, power cut and the alert systems for producing an alarm when energy consumption exceeds beyond the specified limit using

This research is to design an automated electric meter reading and billing system. It will replace human working system for taking reading. It will be helpful in knowing the daily electricity usage. The proposed system design eliminates the human involvement in Electricity maintenance. The Buyer needs to pay for the usage of electricity on schedule, in case that he couldn"t pay, the electricity transmission can be turned off autonomously from the distant server. The user can monitor the energy consumption in units from a web page by providing device IP address [1].
IOT Based Energy Meter Reading and Theft Monitoring
Electricity has become one of the basic requirements for human life, being widely used for domestic, industrial and agricultural purposes. In our work, we propose a digital energy meter which measures the energy consumption and the energy measured is transmitted periodically to the remote server or user or electricity board so that energy consumption can be monitored from remote end. Additionally an important concept used here is the IoT (Internet of Things). It objective is to generate bill automatically by checking the electricity unit's consumption in a house and in a way to reduce the manual labor. The calculations are performed automatically and the bill is updated on the internet by using a network of Internet of Things Iot is an emerging system with unique identifiers and having the ability to transfer data over a network without human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Here using IoT the meter readings are uploaded into our specific web page for remote monitoring.

Paper introduces a system which provides a platform for a consumer to monitor the meter reading via “ThingSpeak” and control the energy consumption, it will also support in keeping the track of energy meter billing. This system helps us to reduce turmoil’s and energy related dissent. The system is implemented using Atmega328P microcontroller and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. This system do not require the replacement of the energy meter but we associate this system with the installed energy meter that benefit the consumer, the base for designing and implementation of a system is IoT (Internet of Things). The instantaneous data will be fetched from the meter and uploaded on the ‘ThingSpeak’ IoT cloud platform.
Review Paper On Smart Energy Meter Using Iot

We can see a person standing in front of our house, whose duty is to read the energy meter. The person checks the meter board, takes the readings and the bill is received at the customer?s place within two or three days. This procedure from taking the meter readings to generating the electric bills and delivering the electric bills to each customer?s house involves a lot of time as well as money. Sometimes there may be issues like extra bill amount or notifications to the customers even if the bill is paid. To overcome this drawback we have come up with an idea of developing an IOT based smart energy meter which will reduce the errors in bill generation and also save the time of the workers of the electricity board. In this system, the electric meter board will be connected to Arduino board which will take the readings from the meter board with the help of sensor and will give the notifications or to update the readings on the web based system which will be connected through the Wi-...
