Effects of Hindi Dubbed Cartoons on Students’ Linguistic Patterns and Culture

The study aims to explore the role of Hindi dubbed cartoons in instilling linguistic patterns and culture among primary school students of Lahore. The study verifies the hypothesis that Hindi dubbed cartoons are instilling linguistic patterns and culture among children. The measures for collecting data included an indigenous demographic sheet, questionnaire for school going children, and questionnaire for parents. The sample of the current research comprised of 200 respondents (students=100 and parents=100) from Lahore city through convenient sampling. The data was analyzed through SPSS version 21.00. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to analyze the relationship between watching Hindi dubbed cartoons, instilling linguistic pattern and culture. The findings revealed that there is significant correlation between watching Hindi dubbed cartoon and instilling linguistic pattern and culture. The findings cater insight for future researchers.

The Influence of Watching English Cartoons on English Language Acquisition: A Case of Selected Filipino Preschoolers

In this 21st century era, young children have become keen users of multimedia technologies, more so than in the past generations when children could access various English cartoons. Due to exposure to English cartoons, preschoolers proficient in English tend to have difficulties acquiring the first language used in the speech community. This study investigates the effect of the language of cartoon films on children’s acquisition of their mother tongue. The language used in the cartoon films under study is Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) while that of the parents and of the environment is Urban Nasiriya Iraqi Arabic (UNIA). The informants of the study consist of three Children who are native speakers of Arabic and whose ages are aged 5,6 and 7 at the beginning of collecting the data of this study. An Experimental Study: Cartoon Videos as Media Instruction on Students Speaking Ability

The main focus of this research is to investigate whether there was a significant difference in the speaking ability between the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Kampar Timur. This research was classified as a quasi-experimental study. It involved 65 students of two groups, Class X MIPA 5 as the experimental group and Class X MIPA 6 as the control group. The experimental group was taught by using cartoon videos, whereas the control group was taught by using the textbook-based technique. The data were obtained by using a pre-test and a post-test. The pre-test was given to both groups before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. The Use of Cartoon Movies to Enhance Students’ Vocabulary in Primary School

The research aims to identify whether or not and to what extent cartoon movies can enhance students' vocabulary mastery. The research also identifies the increasing of students' writing ability in writing short composition after taught by the movies. The Classroom Action Research conducted at fifth grade students of Syafana Islamic School, Gading Serpong, Tangerang. There were 2 cycles and each cycle consists of four steps, namely; (1) planning the action, (2) implementing the action, (3) observing the action, and (4) reflecting the result of the observation. The result of the research shows that cartoon movies can enhance the students' vocabulary mastery. It enhances students' writing ability in writing short composition after taught by the movies. It could be seen from these indicators: (a) students could spell the vocabularies; (b) most students were able to pronounce words correctly; (c) students could grasp the meaning well; and (d) students could use many vocabularies in their writing short composition. In line with the result, the writers suggest that cartoon movies are one of the effective techniques in English teaching activities. It increases the students' enthusiasm and their achievement in learning vocabulary and writing short composition ability. The result hopefully will motivate teachers to use cartoon movies in teaching vocabulary to young learners.
