A Simple Model Aimed at Estimating the Entity of Ancient Migrations (original) (raw)

In this report, a paleodemographic model of our conception is presented, allowing to estimate the entity of ancient migrations from haplogroup data. The model is applied to the Italic migrations in Roman-time northern Italy (under 10%), the Goth and Lombard migrations in Early Middle Age Italy (approximately 20% in most of northern and central Italy and near Benevento, southern Italy, under 10% elsewhere), the Norman invasion of southern Italy (approximately 20% around Palermo, Sicily, under 10% elsewhere).
