This study explores the inherent and external factors which influence university students' involvement in physical activity. As the key respondents were reacting to the adapted Exercise Reward Inventory and Participation Motivation questionnaire, 400 students comprising 200 males and 200 females were sampled. It shows that health and fitness (M = 4.37) are the intrinsic highest mean value variables, whereas peers and friends (M = 3.97) are factors for extrinsic variables. There are substantial differences in the presence of inherent health and fitness motives between gender and physical influences (t =-6.51, p < 1.05) (t =-5.05, p < 0.05). Only in the family did there appear to be substantial sex variations in extrinsic motivation (t = 6.98, p < 0.05). There were only substantial variations of sex in relation to external motivation in the family (t = 6.98, p < 0.05). Lastly, the most contributing factors to physical activity are the inherent motivational and extrinsic motivational factors (the position of the university). University should emphasise the opportunity to promote physical activity among more students by encouraging safer cultural activities between men and women. This study is also important for the physical and spiritual growth of healthy students. This experience shows that the most successful way, particularly for students, is to make the next generation safe and energy efficient.

This study investigates intrinsic and extrinsic factors that influence involvement of university students to participate in physical activity. 400 students comprising 200 men and 200 women were used as the main respondents were respond to the adapted Exercise Motivations Inventory questionnaire. It revealed that highest mean value of the intrinsiic factors are health and fitness (M = 4.37), while for extrinsic factors are factors peers and friends (M = 3.97). There is significant differences in the involvement of intrinsic motivation factors motivated health and fitness (t = -5.05, p < 0.05) and body-related factors (t = -6.51, p < 0.05) by gender. As for the extrinsic motivation that only the family (t = -6.98, p < 0.05) showed significant differences by gender.Lastly, intrinsic motivation body related and extrinsic motivation factors (role of university) are the most contributing factors to the physical activity. Keywords: physical activities; students; involvement; motivatio

Background: The purpose of the study was to compare the motives for participating in physical activity (PA) through the different types of co-curricular activities chosen by health sciences undergraduate students at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Methods: The participants were university students at USM's Health Campus, who were invited to volunteer and complete two measures: a demographic form, including the types of co-curricular activities in which the students chose to enrol (sports, uniform and art), and the Physical Activity and Leisure Motivation Scale (PALMS). Results: A total of 588 university students (female = 79.1%, male = 20.9%) with a mean age of 19.77 (SD = 1.39) participated in the study. The results showed significant differences in the motives of affiliation (P < 0.001), appearance (P = 0.008) and physical condition (P = 0.010) across the types of co-curricular activities in which the students participated. The students who enrolled in sports generally showed higher motives of affiliation, appearance and physical condition for participating in PA than other types of co-curricular activities. Conclusion: The study findings can provide further insights into the motives for participating in PA among health sciences students and encouragement for students to integrate PA into their daily routines.
Examination of University Students' Motivations to Participate in Physical Activity
Conhecimento & Diversidade
The purpose of this study is to examine at the elements that influence Idr University students' motivation to participate in physical exercise. This study enlisted the help of 300 students. The consequences of smoking, living status, and gender on university students' motivation to exercise were explored. The Motivation Scale to Participate in Physical Activity (MSPPA), which Tekkurşun and Cicioglu (2018) adapted into Turkish, was used to assess the learners' motivation to participate in physical activity. As a result, both female and male students in the research appear to be highly motivated to engage in physical exercise. It is recognised that environmental and individual variables influence both groups' engagement in physical exercise favorably. It was shown that students who live with their family and students who do not smoke are more motivated to engage in physical activity.

This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the association of psychosocial factors with physical activity levels among undergraduate students aged 18 to 30 years. A sample of 261 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (n = 261; 138 males; 123 females) participated in the study. The respondents have been selected through a probability-based cluster sampling. A self-administered questionnaire was used to gather information regarding the socio-demographic characteristics(age, ethnicity, family household number, allowance income, and parent’s monthly income), psychosocial factors (self-efficacy, social support, and perceived benefit), and physical activity levels, which was accessed using Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine factors associated with physical activity levels. The highest percentage of respondents (63.2%) were classified as having a moderate physical activity, followed by vigorous (24.9%)and low p...

This study aimed to analyze motivations for engaging in physical activity among university students and their relationship with gender, amount of sports activity, and satisfaction with sports activity. Methods: The sample consisted of 1099 Vizcaya university students (45.3% men and 54.7% women), aged between 18 and 29 years old (M = 20.4; SD = 1.7 years). Sports motivation, the number of weekly hours of physical activity, and the level of satisfaction with sports were analyzed. The purpose of this study is to identify the influences of attitude, self-efficacy, and motivation on leisure time physical activity participation among undergraduate students at local public universities. The theory of planned behaviour and self-efficacy theory were used as a theoretical framework. The study sample comprised 1352 undergraduate students selected by random cluster sampling. Questionnaires were utilised to collect data. The results of the study showed that motivation and self-efficacy factors were the best predictors of leisure time physical activity participation. Furthermore, the results of path analysis revealed that the combination of attitude and self-efficacy had direct and indirect effects on motivation for leisure time physical activities participation among the students at local public universities. This study suggests that to encourage students‟ leisure time physical activity participation and involvement, the university management should plan and organise p...
