Testing the effectiveness of the Men as Partners Program (MAP) in Soweto, South Africa (original) (raw)

The study evaluates the effectiveness of the Men as Partners (MAP) program in South Africa, focusing on changing men's gender attitudes and norms, reducing unwanted pregnancy risks, and increasing male involvement in HIV and gender-based violence prevention. It includes a mixed-methods approach with qualitative focus groups and a quantitative baseline survey involving 2578 respondents, revealing persistent gender stereotypes and low condom use. The intervention's impact was assessed through follow-up interviews with workshop participants, although challenges prevented a full experimental design.
