This study explores the effect of think-pair-share learning on junior high school students' achievement in algebraic expressions. The study used the pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design. The participants were selected from two intact classes (already-formed groups) and received either an intervention (the treatment group) or not an intervention (the control group). The control group received the conventional learning method often used in the classroom. The participants consisted of hundred (100) third year junior high school students of equal mathematics ability (control group = 54 students; experimental group = 46 students) from a junior high school in the central region of Ghana. For the pre-test and post-test scores, the Shapiro-Wilk had a p-value greater than .05 (p > .05) for each statistic, indicating that both the pre-test and post-test scores were normally distributed, before and after the intervention. The results of the independent samples t-test before the intervention, indicated a non-statistically significant difference between the experimental and control pre-test scores (t =-.48, p > .05, C. I = [-1.78, 1.08]). A one-way ANOVA after the intervention, indicated that the effect of the method of instruction was significant for student scores, F (1, 98) = 353.98, p <.05. Also, the paired-sample t-test for the pre-test and post-test scores indicated the students' post-test scores were statistically higher than their pre-test scores (t (98) =-8.44, p < .05), Further, the results of the independent samples t-test for the post-test also indicated statistically significant differences between

The study aimed at investigating the effect of the think-pair-share technique on academic performance of students in office practice incolleges of education, Kwara state, Nigeria. One intact group was selected as the control group and the other as the experimental group atrandom. The study was directed by two research questions and two null hypotheses. The study used a quasi-experimental approach thatincluded pre- and post-tests. The population of the study comprised 125 students majoring in business. The purposive sampling procedurewas used in selecting 125 students who were grouped into treatment and control groups. The instruments for data collection wereprogrammed material (modules) for office practice and Office Practice Achievement Test (OPAT) developed by the researchers based onthe topic to be covered. Two hypotheses with significance levels of .05 were tested using the ANCOVA statistic technique. Both groups had15 reading sessions; the experimental group received treatment ...

The study is attempts to investigate the effectiveness of andragogical approach employed by tutors on academic achievement of adult learners. The objective of the study is to measure if there are any significant differences in the learners 'academic performances due to the individual capability in delivering the subject content. The study is analysed by an independent- samples t-test which conducted to compare learners score on the subject. This study initiated to compare the consequence of content delivery by two different background tutors. The samples chosen for this study are the second-year undergraduates for the subject Abnormal Psychology in Open University Malaysia (OUM). The sample size consisted of 48 learners who were randomly assigned to experimental group and control group, each consisting of 24 learners. The two tutors chosen for this study are, a tutor of andragogical approach (Tutor A) who completed the nine modules of Postgraduate Certificate in Open and Distanc...
ASSESSMENT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST RESULTS OF FRESHMEN EDUCATION STUDENTS
International Journal of Indonesian Education and Teaching, 2021
Psychological testing in schools is a beneficial activity that helps a student achieve their goals and helps diagnosed social, cognitive, or behavioral problems. This study aimed to assess the psychological test results of education students in a Philippine state university. The study utilized secondary data from 443 education students at the university. Descriptive measures and multiple regression models were employed in evaluating the data and determining the influencing factor of psychological test results, respectively. Results revealed that the selected demographic variables as gender, degree program, type of high school, and overall grade point average have no significant association with the psychological test results of education students. Furthermore, this study has documented the robust and positive evidence that Mathematics and English grade point average contributed to the psychological test scores of the students. The results go to infer that students with a good background in Mathematics and English subjects in high school have a good foundation in analytical and logical thinking during college.

This research was a quasi-experimental research with a factorial design 2×3 aims to determine the comparison of Group Investigation (GI) with Assessment for Learning (AfL) through peer-assessment (GI-AfL-Peer) and TPS with AfL through peer-assessment (TPS-AfL-Peer) viewed from self confidence for student’s achievement in mathematics. The population of this research were all of Junior High School students 8th grade in Karanganyar Regency schools in academic year 2016/2017. Research samples obtained by stratified cluster random sampling. The data was collected by using methods of documentation, students’ self confidence questionnaires, and mathematics achievement test. Data analysis technique used two way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with unequal cell. According to research result, it could be concluded that: (1) students’ mathematics achievement which applied GI-AfL-Peer better than TPS-AfL-Peer, (2) mathematics achievement of students with high self confidence better than students’ ...

Article history: Received: 12/07/2020 Revised: 22/08/2020 Accepted: 30/09/2020 This study aims to determine the effect of giving a pre-test and post-test on the learning outcomes of AMIK MEDICOM student research methods. This study uses three variables consisting of one dependent variable, namely Learning Outcomes (Y), while the independent variable is Pre-Test (X1) Post-Test (X2). The type of research used is explanatory research through associative research, namely research that aims to explain the influence between two or more variables. In this study, the population is students of the Academy of Informatics and Medicom Computers with Informatics Management Study Program Level 2 (two) semester 4 who study at Jl. Land No. 74 Medan totaling 254. The sample in this study was 30% of the population, namely 76 people. The data collection method was done by using a questionnaire and literature study. Data analysis was performed by testing data quality (validity and reliability), classic...
Effects of Four Teaching Strategies on the Academic Performance of Senior High School Students
Romblon State University Research Journal
Determining the effects of four teaching strategies on the academic performance of senior high school students was the main objective of this study. The quasi-experimental design, specifically the equivalent pretest-posttest design was used. A grade-11 class was divided into four sections, the three sections served as the experimental classes subjected to game-based, outcome-based, and technology-based teaching strategies, and one section served as the control group who undertook the traditional teaching method. Results showed that all groups were at a "satisfactory" level of performance before the treatment. Although the means of the experimental groups increased a little than that of the control group after the treatment, still all groups were at a "satisfactory” level. Before treatment, all groups were comparable, but difference was observed after the treatment. Improvement from pretest to posttest performance of the experimental groups and control group was found ...
Development of the Academic Achievement Test for Undergraduate Students
2020
This study was conducted due to the in availability of a lecture-made test developed through a scientific process used to measure undergraduate students ‘achievement. It aimed to develop a good quality test which could be used from semester to semester. As a developmental quantitative descriptive study, it analyzed the items of the test that were tried out on 54 undergraduate students. Their answers were analyzed in terms of validity, item difficulty, discrimination power, distracter effectiveness, and reliability. First, the validity analysis showed that all items were considered valid. Then the difficulty index analysis showed that more than a half of the items were categorized moderate but the rest were easy or difficult. Similarly, more than a half of the items were categorizing good in terms of item discrimination power. In terms of distracter effectiveness, it was found that some items had all wellfunctioning distracters; some others had three or two nonfunctioning distracters...
