Entrepreneurial intention among secondary students: findings from Portugal

This paper aims to identify some factors that may be explaining differences among secondary students in start-up intentions. For that, the study develops an entrepreneurial intention model sustained by the use of Azjen's theory of planned behaviour (TPB). This theory is considered as a relevant tool to model the development of entrepreneurial intention through pedagogical processes and learning contexts. Using a sample of students aged between 14 and 15 years old, it was administrated a questionnaire based on the Liñán and Chen's entrepreneurial intention questionnaire (EIQ). Data was collected before the entrepreneurship education programme. The purpose is to test a model of entrepreneurial intention using structural equations, before the educational experience.

MAPPING THE PHENOMENON OF STUDENTS' ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION

This research mapped the phenomena that occured in students who are taking classes entrepreneurship that was limited by entrepreneurial knowledge, personal attitude, social norms and self-efficacy. Using descriptive statistics on the answers of 794 respondents, who were students of Bina Nusantara University, produced a variety of results. Based on entrepreneurial knowledge, students still felt hesitant to be able to start and run the entrepreneurial process. On the other hand, self-efficacy and personal attitude reflect a positive thing associated, while the support of family and the environment around where they livevalued invariety. Although this research discovered phenomenon using all the attributes having impacts on entrepreneurship intention, potential students who are properly trained have a probability of playing a leading role in this regard. The benefits that can be expected from this research are useful in identifying suitable students for any entrepreneurial activity in the future with the support of educational institutions, families, and the government as a whole to form the atmosphere of an entrepreneurial culture.

Psychological characteristics and entrepreneurial intentions among secondary students

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to test a model of entrepreneurial intentions among secondary students based on their psychological characteristics. Furthermore, this seeks to determine whether teenage students (14-15 years old) possess entrepreneurial characteristics and whether these characteristics correspond to entrepreneurial intentions. Design/methodology/approach – A sample of secondary students was chosen ranging from 14 to 15 years old. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analysed by univarite statistics and structural equations modelling (PLS) to measure the relationship between the psychological characteristics and entrepreneurial intentions. Findings – The results demonstrate there is a relationship between (some) psychological characteristics and entrepreneurial intentions. Entrepreneurship Education Analysis and Planned Behavior Theory in Triggering Entrepreneurial Intentions Among Students

The purpose of this study was to analyze the Planned Behavior Theory and entrepreneurship education in triggering students' entrepreneurial intentions. This research was conducted at Mercu Buana University. The respondents of this study were students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, with a total sample of 250 student respondents. This study uses quantitative methods. The data collection technique used the snowball technique. Data processing uses a statistical model of Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of SMART PLS software. The study found that Entrepreneurship education has a significant influence on Attitude Toward Behavior, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control and entrepreneurial intentions. Attitude Toward Behavior has a a significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions. Subjective Norms and Perceived Behavioral Control has no significant effect on entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurship education with Attitude Toward Behavior, Subjective Norms and Perceived Behavioral Control simultaneously has a moderate influence on entrepreneurial intentions.

Entrepreneurial Intention to Business Start –Up Among New Intake Students

Survey information from 140 students from Faculty of Business Management, Accounting, Hotel & Tourism Management and Art & Design was collected through self-administrative questionnaires. Reliability Test, Descriptive Statistics, Correlation, One-Way ANOVA and Regression analysis were employed to get results. The results indicate that new students have moderate intention to become entrepreneurs. All variables are positive correlation with higher in attitudes toward entrepreneurship, social norms and self-efficacy are associated with higher intention to business start-up. This study indicates that an attitude toward entrepreneurship is the best predictor of intention to business start-up. Therefore to achieve an objective in national level as to support Bumiputra in commercial sector, this university needs to encourage new students and develop their interest toward entrepreneurial sector as to produce a young entrepreneur among graduated students. This research will help Malaysian Academy of SME & Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED), UiTM investigate the potential of the new students to become a young entrepreneur. It also will assist each faculty in collaboration with MASMED designed a kind of any entrepreneurship program to meet the demand by students who intend to choose their career as an entrepreneur.

Factors Influencing Entrepreneurial Intention of the Senior High School Students

Entrepreneurial intention is the foundation for any decision to start a business or endeavor, making it a more significant predictor of future entrepreneurial participation. Since it is the most critical predictor of entrepreneurial behavior and a crucial component in comprehending the process of launching new business ventures, this study aimed to identify the factors that influence the entrepreneurial intentions of the Senior High School Students of St. Paul University Surigao. This study applied the quantitative research design employing a descriptive survey technique with 275 respondents. The main instrument employed in gathering necessary data was the researcher-made questionnaire. The collected data were treated using sample percentage, mean and standard deviation, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed a significant difference in the factors influencing the entrepreneurial intention of the senior high school students when grouped according to their family business and strand. The research results could serve as background knowledge and a framework for future researchers doing deeper investigations similar to this study.

Entrepreneurial Intention in First-Year Higher Education Students

Higher education students attending Entrepreneurship Education programs develop new skills to foster their future Entrepreneurial Intention. According tothe Theory of Planned Behavior, the dimensions of Personal Attitude, Subjective Norm, and Behavioral Controlare the predictors of Intention.As expected, in Entrepreneurship Intention studies, this theory permitted a more accurate prediction of students' intentions and goal attainment. This is essential to confirm (or not) conventional insight that entrepreneurship education increases some students' attitudes to intend to start a business in the future, resulting in the Higher Education programmesinfluence. This research aims to evaluate the impact of Entrepreneurship Education in first-year students training program. The study was carried out in two moments: before and after being taught classes related to EE to identify relations. The results show that the TPB model is an adequate analysis tool to assess Entrepreneurship Education impact, suggesting that there is a positive influence on students' Entrepreneurship Intention in the early stages of academic learning.

Factors Influencing Students’ Entrepreneurial Intention

This study examined factors influencing students’ entrepreneurial intentions, including factors in entrepreneur education and entrepreneurial interest. The study was conducted on Economic Education students at IKIP Budi Utomo. The research sample was 48 people taken through a simple random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using multiple regression. Simultaneously, the factors of entrepreneur education and entrepreneurial interest affect entrepreneurial intention. The application of an appropriate curriculum, quality of students, and facilities needed as a factor in formal education, family environment as aninformal education factor, and participation in training as a non-formal education factor are not influential on students' intention to become entrepreneurs. The Role of Entrepreneurship Education in Developing Students’ Entrepreneurial Intentions

This study, based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), assesses the impact of entrepreneurship education programs (EEPs) on entrepreneurial intentions of 320 students following entrepreneurship courses at six Iranian universities. Data were collected by a questionnaire before and after completing EEPs. Result indicated that EEPs significantly influence perceived behavioral control and subjective norms. However, no support was found for the effects of EEPs on attitudes toward entrepreneurship and intention. Findings suggest that the TPB could be considered to provide a useful framework to analyze how EEP might influence students' entrepreneurial intentions.
