Bibliometric analysis of Ceylon Medical Journal during the period from 2003 – 2012

Ceylon Medical Journal (CMJ) is the premier and oldest medical journal in Sri Lanka. Bibliometric studies on single journals are useful to find out the research trend in a discipline and publication trend of the journal. The objective of the study was to conduct a bibliometric study of CMJ. The study sought to identify co-authorship pattern, geographical distribution of authors, productive institutions, prolific authors, productive articles and the impact of the research work published in CMJ during the study period. The required data of all the selected articles published from 2003 to 2012, related to the analysis were collected from Scopus database. The collected data were analyzed in terms of bibliometric parameters by MS excel 2007 and Bibexcel. The study revealed multi authored articles occupy prominent position indicating cooperative research work. Three author contributions was the highest ranked authorship pattern. Majority (90%) of the authors publishing articles in CMJ were from Sri Lanka. The most prolific author contributed 18 articles during the study period. The most productive article received 57 citations recorded in SCOPUS database. University of Colombo and University of Kelaniya were leading institutions in publishing articles in CMJ during the study period. The study highlighted some research trends in health sciences and publishing trends of CMJ. The country distribution of authors showed that the journal reflects the research and views of health researchers mainly from Sri Lanka. The study provides suggestions to improve the impact of the research articles published in CMJ.

Bibliometric analysis of Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine from 2008 to 2019

The purpose of the study is to assess the scientific research productions in Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine (APJTM) from its first issue up to Dec 2019. We used the Web of Science Core Collection (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI) to extract the relevant documents. Additionally, the data analysis using ORIGIN PRO 2018, HistCite, bibliometrix R-package, and VOSviewer. Var1.6.6. A total of 2,137 publications of APJTM. A total of 2,136 documents were retrieved, with received 13956 citations, with an average mean 6.63 citations per article, an h-index of 38. The most frequently occurring keywords in this analysis were Malaria, dengue, apoptosis, antioxidant, rate, invasion and anopheles stephesi and inflammation. The study provided the comprehensive and general overview for APJTM journal over its history from the first issue up-to-date. Moreover, the findings provide an insight into the frequency of citations for top-cited articles published in APJTM as well as the quality of the works, journals, trends of publications steering in APJTM.

INDIAN JOURNAL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH - AN ANALYSIS OF CITATION PATTERN

The study is based on 781 citations appended to 43 research articles pertaining to January to June 2000 issues of volume 109 of Indian Journal of Medical Research. The authorship pattern of the citations shows that more than 15 per cent contributions are single-authored and about 85 per cent are the result of teamwork. The team size of this field is bigger than those in the fields of chemistry and physics. Single-authored articles amount to 15.52 per cent of the total citations and about 28 per cent resulted through the collaboration of five or more authors. Of the citations 88.73 per cent pertain to journal articles. Of the citing articles 38 contributed by Indian authors, 3 by foreign authors and 2 jointly by Indian and foreign authors. Of the total citations 9.48 per cent are author self-citations and 7.3 per cent are journal self-citations.

Bibliometric Study of SAARC Countries Research Trends in Public Health using Scopus Database

Public health is facing a current covid-19 crisis situation in the world. This study aims to analyze particular the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries' public health research interest and growth. This bibliometric study selected the "Public Health" keyword from Scopus database geographical area selected was only SAARC countries in the title only and retrieved 1720 published articles. The time period selected was from 1957 to March 2021. 5758 authors were identified to published relevant studies on total over an average of 7.34 years in public health. The data retrieval most productive three main publishing countries India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Most productive institutions and authors are from India. Bibliometric analysis showed growth in international collaboration with the USA among most SAARC countries. The most productive journal was found to be "Indian Journal of Public Health" and the most productive author Ramasam, Y. J having a total of publication 57. This bibliometric analysis provides an inclusive overview of the public health research conducted in SAARC countries, which helps researchers, policy makers, and practitioner better understand the development of public health care and possible practice implications. Future Public health research should be dedicated to filling in the gaps between SAARC Countries health care research.

Examining Authorship Dynamics, Publication Patterns, and Affiliations in the Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (PJMHS) from 2009-2019

Introduction: The Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences have been peer-reviewed and is included in the Scopus-Elsevier database. This study represents (PJMHS)'s contribution to research productivity from 2019 to 2009. Methods and Materials: The published data records were obtained from the PJMHS website and the Scopus-Elsevier database for MS Office Excel Sheet tabulation. The frequency of publications, the type of papers, the use of pages, citations, and the initial author's affiliation with their country. Results: In 43 issues, 15401 (4%) authors wrote 3817 items in seven categories. The average number of pages consumed was (2.8%), with 896 (23.4%) citations in publications. The collaboration of three authors provided 1339 (36.6%) papers and received the top spot, while four authors, 3344 (21.7%), contributed 836 (22%). The first authors from 29 nations engaged in publications, with Pakistan leading the way with 3484 (91%), Iran second with 79 (2%), Indonesia third with 77 (2%), and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia fourth with 65 (1.7%). Practical Implication: The information assess the influence and relevance of the research published in the Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences. In nutshell , the published data empowers readers to stay informed about the journal's publication trends, authorship patterns, and the breadth of content available. It enables researchers to identify potential collaborators, explore different document types, and gauge the impact of published articles through citation analysis. Conclusion: Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (PJMHS) is a peer-reviewed journal that is published continuously and assists medical and health sciences research communities in gaining their attention in sharing ideas on a reciprocal basis from similar specialties or sub-specialties of common disciplines

Publication productivity and citation analysis of the Medical Journal of Malaysia: 2004 - 2008

We analysed 580 articles (original articles only) published in Medical Journal of Malaysia between 2004 and 2008, the resources referenced by the articles and the citations and impact received. Our aim was to examine article and author productivity, the age of references used and impact of the journal. Publication data was obtained from MyAIS database and Google Scholar provided the citation data. From the 580 articles analyzed, contributors mainly come from the hospitals, universities and clinics. Contributions from foreign authors are low. The useful lives of references cited were between 3 to 11 years. ISI derived Impact factor for MJM ranged between 0.378 to 0.616. Journal self-citation is low. Out of the 580 sampled articles, 76.8% have been cited at least once over the 5 years and the ratio of total publications to citations is 1: 2.6.

Bibliometric analysis of the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association form 2009 to 2013.pdf

Abstract Objective: To conduct a bibliometric analysis of the Original articles published in the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association. Methods: The study was conducted in Peshawar and comprised all Original articles published in the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association between 2009 and2013. The articles were downloaded from the Journal website and bibliometric parameters were analysed. Results: A total number of 913 Original articles were found in regular issues of the Journal, while leaving out six special supplements that were published during the period under study. The number of Original articles increased steadily from148(16.2%) in 2009 to 214(23.4%) in 2013, In yearly terms, Original articles published each year ranged between 148 and 214; 510(55.9%) had 21-30 citations; 3-author contributions ranked the highest with 206(22.6%); 481(52.7%) authors were geographically affiliated to Sindh, Pakistan; Community Medicine was the most popular medical specialty with was 140(15.3%) articles; 17340(90.5%) citations were from journals; and the most productive institution was Aga Khan University, Karachi. Conclusion: The number of papers published in Journal of Pakistan Medical Association per issue increased from 2009 to 2013 and the main region in terms of contribution was Sindh. THE INDIAN JOURNAL OF OCCUPATIONAL & ENVIRONMENTAL MEDICINE 1997-2012: BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

This study analyses the patterns of publication of the Indian Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine from 1997 to 2012. The study finds that IJOEM principally publishes papers in form of original articles. The journal has constantly published elaborated articles ranging from one to twenty pages. The study further reveals that larger chunk of research publications in the journal are in multi authorship mode owing to multiple disciple involved scientific assignment. The degree of collaboration in the publications of the journal is found to be 0.740. Most frequently occurred keywords indexed in the articles of the journal are: Physically Inactivity and Occupational Health. Moreover, the study finds that, the journal has accommodated the papers contributed from Indian different states and different countries like Iran, Nigeria, UK, Italy Turkey Canada etc.
