Aim and objective: To determine the prevalence of the signs and symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) among dental students in Navi Mumbai. Materials and methods: A representative population-based sample of 500 dental students was evaluated for the signs and symptoms of TMD by means of a validated questionnaire. A detailed case history was taken, and the examination of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), mandibular movements, muscles and occlusion was done for each participant. Results: The signs and symptoms of TMD are frequent among dental students. Out of 500 students, who filled the questionnaire and underwent examination, 250 were females and 250 were males. In total, 22% of the study population had at least one symptom of TMD. In total, 51% of the study population had at least one sign of TMD. The prevalence of the signs and symptom of TMD was significantly higher in females than in males. Conclusion: The study showed that about 29% of the study population had at least one sign without any symptoms of TMD. This highlights the presence of subclinical cases that exist in the population that can be intervened to prevent their progression into TMD. Clinical significance: Extra emphasis should be given on the determination of the predisposing, initiating and causative factors of TMD along with the examination. Prevention and treatment at an early stage will prevent the progression of TMD.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) by the use of Helkimo's index (anamnestic [Ai] and clinical dysfunction [Di] component) in the nonpatient population (dental students) of Faridabad college. A questionnaire-based survey was carried out among students of dental college for signs and symptoms of TMD and also clinical examination was done. The results were scored and according to scoring severity of TMD were assessed in the specified population. About 580 students were assessed for TMD by the use of Helkimo's index (Ai and Di component). Descriptive statistical analysis was done. Among the study group, 15% were found to have TMDs. Out of the affected students, 79% females and 21% males were having symptoms. Out of the signs and symptoms present, 7% students were found to have sound in temporomandibular joint followed by pain in 3% and fatigue in 2% of students. Aim and Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) in dental students. Materials and methods: A total of 100 dental students, at Patna dental college and hospital, patna, voluntarily participated in this study. After obtaining the informed consent, the participants were asked to answer the questionnaire to evaluate TMD in undiagnosed cases. Then, examination of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and associated structures were done. Results: The present study has shown that the prevalence of signs and symptoms were 50.5 and 48% respectively, with no apparent gender difference. Joint sound was the most prevalent sign and TMJ noise being the most common symptom. Among oral parafunctional habits, lip/cheek biting and nail biting were common. Conclusion: Signs and symptoms of TMD were present even in nonpatient population, such as dental students. Thorough clinical assessments with standardized test are necessary for the early diagnostic process.

Introduction: The temporomandibular Joints (TMJs) are two joints connecting jawbone to the skull. conditions affecting the TMJ, muscles of mastication and/or associated structures are named the Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). TMDs have a collecting variety of clinical signs and symptoms related to the TMJ and/or the associated structures. Aim of this Study: The aim of the study was to examine the symptoms of Temporomandibular disorders in Iraqi dental colleges students. Materials and Methods: Study include hundred dental students from Colleges in Baghdad capital of Iraq. There percentages were as a 28% males and 72% females, their age ranged from 18 to 25 years. Results: In the study 81% were free of limitation in mouth opening, About 6% of the population had limitation in mouth opening, while 13% sometime suffering from this problem. 82students (82%) had T.M. joint locking, 10% feel sometime and 8% had T.M joint locking. It is clear that the percentage of students suffering from previous two problems was significantly lower than the percentage of student free from these problems. About 5.1% had muscular pain during chewing, 74.7% free of pain and 20.2% feel sometimes. 26.3% of students had frequent headache, neck pain and toothaches while 46.5% free of pain. 7% suffer from pain around ears, cheek and temple.26% noticed T.M.J. clicking while chewing or opening the mouth and 25% feeling sometimes. 11% had arthralgia in other joints of body while 78% free of arthralgia. About 12% of students their jaws get stiff, tights or tired regularly. 5.1% of sample suffered from recent trauma to their head, neck and jaws. 16% felt recent changes in their bite under want orthodontic treatment. 31% considered their self as nervous and 50% had stress. 32% had experience of pain during eruption of wisdom tooth while 49% did not have this experience. the study revealed that only 5.1% received treatment for unexplained pain and jaw joint problems. The results also showed that the 46.9% had some habit such as nail biting, clenching of teeth, chewing gum of them had some kind of TMJ problem. Conclusion: The symptoms and severity of TMJ could be identified by a simplified questionnaire.
The temporal-mandibular joint composes one of the most important articulations in the skull anatomy, aiding in such essential functions as articulation, mastication among other facial-oral functions. Proper functioning of this joint is thus of paramount significance in day to day life, with the influence important factors including the integrity of the glenoid fossa, the menisci, articulating condyles as well as the support factors like the attaching muscles and ligaments. Mandibular pathologies are hard to diagnose with most patients individually devising relieving mechanisms and often adapting to the aches and pain that characterize the presentation, and dental clinical examination often may overlook the mandibular signs. This study's objective was to determine the proportion of dental students assessing temporal-mandibular joint disorders through the means of clinical examination among those attending Sharif Medical and Dental College Lahore. Randomly selected 120 students attending the clinic for TMJ complaints provided information for this study's findings.
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders have multifactorial aetiology and manifests as a painful condition in the orofacial region and have a high prevalence rate among different populations. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of TMJ disorders among patient visiting the outpatient department (OPD) of a dental college situated in Jharkhand.A total of 8,000 people visiting the OPD of Dental College in Jharkhand were screened for a period of 6 months, and out of them, 100 patients were having temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Five parameters were evaluated, and positive as well as negative findings were recorded. Females were found to be more affected with TMDs than males in the 19-29 years age group. Clicking was the most common symptom among the parameters that were analyzed. Dental professionals need to educate and motivate the patients to take up preventive measures and early treatment to maintain and prevent TMJ manifestation.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) represent a class of conditions influencing the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the muscles of mastication, and/or related structures. Muscles associated with and incorporating the jaw joint control its position and movement. The TMJ associates the mandible to the temporal bone. TMDs is an aggregate term that depicts a subgathering of painful orofacial disorders, including grievances of agony on the TMJ region and exhaustion of the cranio-cervico-facial muscles, especially of masticatory muscles, impediment of mandibular movement, and the presence of articular clicking. TMJ dysfunction is a cryptic issue even today because of its multifactorial etiology. However, it is generally assumed that TMDs would mainly affect adult patients; nevertheless, children have also shown a similar incidence. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of TMJ disorders among patient visiting the outpatient department (OPD) of a private dental college situated in Haryana.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence and severity of TMJD and distribution of associated symptoms with respect to gender and age among the patients visiting Dental Clinic of a Rural Health Centre (RHC). Study Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Setting: Dental Clinic of Rural Health Centre (RHC) Nasirabad, District Kambar Shadadkot, Sindh, Pakistan. Period: December 2018 to May 2019.
