2012, International Institute for Science, Technology and Education (IISTE): E-Journals
The purpose of the study was to assess the relationship of kinematics with dribbling performance of basketball at different phases. Material and Methods: Twenty randomly selected male students aged 18-28 years and who participated in North Zone Inter University Basketball Championship 2010-11 held at CSJMU Kanpur. The data was collected by the help of A Casio Exilim F-1 High Speed Camera and Siliconcoach pro 7 motion analysis system. The Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient was used to measure the relationship between selected kinematics variables with the performance of high dribble. The level of significance was set at 0.05. Results: The results have shown the values of coefficients of correlation of selected angular kinematics variables at moment preparation phase in High dribble were: right ankle joint (0.187), right knee joint (-0.010), right hip joint (-0.144), right shoulder joint (0.433), right elbow joint (-0.165), right wrist joint (-0.015) and Height of C.G. (0.137). In case of moment execution phase were: right ankle joint (0.197), right knee joint (-0.126), right hip joint (-0.144), right shoulder joint (0.188), right elbow joint (-0.346), right wrist joint (-0.060) and Height of C.G. (0.137). Conclusion: The statistical findings indicate that there exists an insignificant relationship between High dribble performance and Ankle (Right), Knee (Right), Hip (Right), shoulder (Right), Elbow (Right) & Wrist (Right) joints and Height of center of gravity at moment preparation and execution. Relationship of Kinematic Variables with the Performance of Basketballplayers in Lay-Up Shot
Citius Altius Fortius, 2009
The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between selected kinematic variables and performance of lay-up shots. Five (N=5) male basketball players who represented Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, were selected as subjects for the study. The help of digital photography was used to film the subjects in sagittal plane of lay-up shot. Joint point method was used in order to obtain the values of selected angular kinematic variables from developed stick figures. Height of center of Gravity was calculated by segmentation method. The performance in Lay-Up Shot was recorded by the scores in Lay-Up Shot, which was obtained by using a three point scale by the three judges. To determine the degree of relationship between selected kinematic variables with the performance in Layup Shot, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Method was used. The results have shown the insignificant values of coefficient of correlation incase of all the selected kinematic variables and significant relationship between the height of center of gravity at the moment of release with the performance of the subjects in lay-up shots.
Kinematic Analysis of Different Group in Basketball with the Technique of Jump Shot
International journal for research in applied sciences and biotechnology, 2021
The purpose of the present study was to kinematics analysis with selected Kinematic variables among three group G1 short height, G2 medium height and G3 tall players in basketball. Thirty (N=30) Basketball player of Basketball academy from NBA Academy Indore are purposively selected as a subject for present study. Further it was divided into three different heights groups of Ten (N=10), subjects each, the first group was heighted from 155 to 165 cm, second group was heighted from 166 to 175 cm and third group was heighted from 176cm and above respectively. The entire subject ranged between ages 15 to 21 years. Videography method was used to biomechanically analysis the selected moments i.e. execution of Jump shot in Basketball. The selected kinematic variables such as Displacement of CG, player's CG height during ball release and velocity of the ball during ball release were selected for the present study. Kinovea software was used in order to obtain the values of selected kinematic from developed stick figure. For the purpose of this study ANOVA test was used. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The result reveled significant difference in player's cg height during ball release but the researcher failed to get the significant result in displacement of cg and velocity of the ball during ball release.
Kinematic Parameters of Jump Shot in Elite Male Basketball Players
Facta Universitatis, Series: Physical Education and Sport
The primary aim of this study was to determine kinematic parameters of jump shot in elite male basketball players, by analyzing the release time for shooting, the angle of entry, and ball spin and. The secondary aim of this study was to examine possible differences in these kinematic parameters among the players associated with their playing position. Eighteen male basketball players (7 guards, 8 forwards, 3 centers) from six Serbian senior teams were tested. 94Fifty basketball sensor was used to obtain the following kinematic parameters of jump shot). The highest average measured values of shot release time were found in centres (1.23±0.23 s) and the lowest in guards (1.07±0.28 s), although these differences were not statistically significant. Further, centres had a lower angle of entry (36.6±2.08°) than guards (40.54±4.76°) and forwards (42.05±3.77°). The highest value of backspin was obtained by forwards (130±11.91 rotations / min). There were no significant differences between g...
A Kinematic Analysis of the Basketball Shot Performed with Different Ball Sizes
Applied Sciences
In youth basketball, the ball’s size is adapted to fit the participants’ physical capacities and improve the development of manipulative skills. The current study compared the kinematic parameters of the basketball shot (BS) performed with two different ball sizes. Twenty-seven adolescent females aged 12.1 ± 0.9 years (height: 153.3 ± 8.0 cm; body mass: 48.8 ± 12.8 kg) completed 10 BS trials from a frontal position at 5.75 m from the basket with two ball sizes: a smaller and lighter ball (size five, 480 g) and the standard ball size for their age (size six, 566 g). No statistically significant differences were observed for ball release variables or efficacy levels. Significantly greater shoulder flexion was detected at release while shooting with a size six ball (F = 2.982, p ≤ 0.01). The shoulder’s angular velocity at release was significantly lower while performing with a size six ball (F = 3.089, p ≤ 0.01). No significant differences were found for the elbow or knee angles or ang...
Kinematic Analysis of Basketball Jump Shot
Technique in sport is defined as rational and efficient performance of movement aimed to resolve motoric tasks in the training and competition process. Insight into the available literature resulted in selection of 3 kinematic variables used for analysis: release angle, release velocity and release height. Consequently, aim of this research is systematic review of kinematic parameters influencing the success of performance in basketball jump shot. Throwing angle is considered to be the most important factor for success of jump shot. Increased release angle is in correlation with the height of basketball trajectory which renders it a function of increased angle of entry of the basketball. Increased angle of entry enables the maximum use of the basket ring but demands increased release velocity. It is possible to control the release velocity using the spin created by the wrist flexion. Second manner of regulation of the velocity is increased release height. Influence on the release height is, however, reduced because it is determined by the constant basket ring height, player's height, jump height and organisation of segmented movements of body parts. Understanding the interaction of variables influencing the structure of basketball movement in duration of shot provides insight into the complexity of movement performance in basketball. It is therefore necessary to indicate these variables during trainings, which is possible under the current conditions due to the fact that the technology has advanced significantly in past few years and follow-up of the said parameters demands very little effort.
KINEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF FREE THROW SHOOTING SKILL IN BASKETBALL
The purpose of the study was to conduct kinematical analysis of free throw shooting skill in basketball. The subjects for the study were three intermediate level basketball players of Amity University Noida. They were photographed in the process of executing the free throw using Nikon DSLR model number D-3200. Using appropriate procedure the photographs were converted into elgons and thereafter the selected kinematic variables (Centre of Gravity, Angle at the knee at the time of shooting, Angle at the elbow at the time of shooting, Angle at the wrist at
