Green Building Rating system in India & Studying the long-term effectiveness of Green building
The building sector is one of the biggest consumers of electricity in India [1] ; it is also the largest generator of CO2 emission & one of the highest consumers of water in India. This is the basic reason why Green building movement comes to India so that we can minimise the environment effect caused by the construction activity in India. Green buildings have potential to reduce up to 34 percent lower CO2 emissions, consume 25 percent less energy and 11 percent less water, and have diverted more than 80 million tonnes of waste from landfills [2]. The author of this paper has studied different rating systems in India & the sustainability of the green buildings in India. The paper goes beyond Green building rating system and gives a thought to the understanding of embedded emission and operational emission. The author of the paper gives an idea of not only Green Building but also a sustainable green building by Post occupancy evaluation.

Green Building Systems in the NCR Region of India

Green building rating systems (GBRS) result in energy-efficient and environment-friendly buildings. They not only preventpollution and resource wastage during construction ; but also uphold high indoor air quality, energy and water efficiencies throughout the building life-cycle. The economic growth of Indian cities has led to hasty construction activities causing resource challenges, air pollution and congestion. The aim of the paper is to find the greenest building in the National Capital Region (NCR) ,which can be a benchmark building for the new buildings in the region. The paper presents the case study of two greenest buildings in the NCR from the two different GBRS; and also compare their attributes and rating systems. The paper inferscritical energy efficiency, air quality and water efficiency attributes of these benchmark buildings much needed in rapidly growing cities like NCR.
Green Building Development for Sustainable Environment with Special Reference to India
Building materials and technologies, and building practices have evolved through ages. The following points require attention, regarding the use of modern building materials: energy consumed in the manufacturing processes, problems of long distance transportation, natural resources and raw materials consumed, recycling and safe disposal, impact on environment, and long-term sustainability. Thus the issues related to energy expenditure, recycling, biodegradable, environmental and sustainability with respect to future demand need to be addressed during the manufacture and use of any new building material by the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings use resources energy, water, and materials while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better site, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal i.e. the complete building life cycle for achieving sustainable building development or green building development. The goal of the "green building" project is to reduce the impact of construction on the environment by sustainable building and construction of buildings using methods and materials that are resource efficient and will not compromise the health of the environment or the associated health and well-being of the building's occupants, construction workers, the general public, or future generations. Sustainable building involves the consideration of many issues, including land use, site impacts, indoor environment, energy and water use, solid waste, and lifecycle impacts of building materials. Energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions will therefore continue to rise unless actions to direct the construction industry towards sustainable consumption and production are taken urgently.

The construction industry is having the highest rate of growth in the last 10-15 years, which causes a major negative impact on the natural resources available for construction and the environment in its consumption of energy. To resolve these problems, one needs to go for "Green Buildings". Today, there is a high level of demand for green or sustainable buildings. The most important decisions regarding a green building's features are made during the preconstruction and design stages. With the increase in demand for green buildings, the demand for Green Building Rating System (GBRS) is also increasing. Green Building Rating System (GBRS) set the benchmark for green building measurement, which helps to reduce the negative impact on the environment by promoting quality green buildings. Hence, it is considered as an attempt to check the status of green buildings growth in India. This paper includes the Objective, Methodology, Study process adopted for criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) to improve the performance of residential buildings in the Sangli and Kolhapur region and the expected conclusion. This research helps the builders to consider the criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) for residential buildings during the planning phase of the project. This will lead to the development of a sustainable world.

In today's era of urbanization, the environment has been disturbed by human beings. Environmental imbalance is produced because of various activities created by us. The construction industry is performing an enormous role in this. While building procedures and after construction because of faulty preparation, pollution is produced in addition to many natural resources being wasted or exploited. A green Building design offers solutions to problems and contributes to keeping the surroundings clean, green, and eco-friendly. The green building momentum began in 1990 with the establishment of 1st green rating system-BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environment Assessment Method) in the U.K., then after followed by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 1993 led a rating system' LEED' (Leadership in Energy & Environment Design). The green building and sustainable development moment is an entirely new environmentally friendly lifestyle that is steadily emerging worldwide and in India. In India, the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) started in 2001 with its rating and certification process. In the current research of current building taking advantage of the unlimited resource, e.g., utilizing sunlight through photo-voltaic tools and led lighting effects, numerous additional methods to transform the structure on the green building and also concentrates on the beneficial results, as well as results after the structure, is changed to green building, Case 1: The study is conducted on Residential complex of G+3 buildings having total flats of 27nos, Situated in dist.-Thane, state-Maharashtra Case 2: The project deals with studying the case study of g+4 storey building eco-friendly ideas, a set case in point of an eco-friendly building that could well be healthy for the people inside in addition to exterior.

Usage of natural things deriving from human activities is increasing day by day acting against the standard of the environment and sustainable use of natural resources. Human interference has caused an adverse effect on the environment. Construction activity has caused a serious impact on the environment. To reduce these problems people are moving to eco-friendly practices. Today, there is a large level of demand for sustainable buildings. With the increase in demand for green buildings, the demand for Green Building Rating System (GBRS) is also increasing. Hence, it is considered an attempt to check the status of green building growth in India. This paper includes the Objective, Methodology, and Study process adopted for criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) to improve the performance of residential buildings in the Sangli and Kolhapur region, suggestions, and the expected conclusion. The analysis of residential buildings is done as per the criteria of the SVAGRIHA rating system. After that suitable suggestions are given to residential buildings and a cost comparison of green buildings and residential buildings is done. This research helps the builders to consider the criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) for residential buildings during the planning phase of the project. This will lead to the development of a sustainable world.

Urban expansion in India is enormous and will place great pressures on natural resources, especially water and the atmosphere. There are significant opportunities to reduce these pressures and contribute to human development through green building. The regulatory framework for green building, with the adoption of Part 5 of the National Building Code, complemented by voluntary codes and green building rating systems, will provide adequate guidance for the expansion of green buildings in the short-term. Standards for resource-efficient building materials need to be developed. The capacity to design and construct green buildings needs to be strengthened. More information about the actual costs and benefits of green buildings needs to be disseminated.
An Investigation of Green Buildings in India

Green buildings are also referred to as 'green construction' or 'sustainable buildings'. Their development reduces reliance on fossil fuels and reduces the total negative environmental effect. The overarching objective of the green buildings is to improve the residents' quality of life through environmentally and environmentally friendly developments. There is an immense potential in the green buildings in India, however research is not sufficient in this direction. The current paper is an attempt to make investigation of green buildings in India with special reference to Delhi. The results suggest that the awareness and usage is increasing for Green buildings in India. The results also suggest that education has strong relationship with the usage of green buildings in India.
A Review on various Green Building Rating Systems in India

The growth and development of our society has a large impact on our natural environment. The research, design stage, construction and operation of the buildings in which we live and work are responsible for the consumption of many of our natural resources. The rating systems set benchmarks for green initiatives for constructing and using buildings to make them sustainable and energy efficient buildings thus to reduce their negative impacts on environment. The most recommended green building evaluation criteria in India are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). This paper focus on the study of LEED, IGBC and GRIHA rating system and compare those rating systems with regards to their evaluation methods; scopes, performance criteria and energy rating measures. Through this study, an attempt is made to make clear understanding of LEED, IGBC and GRIHA rating system evaluation criteria that need to be considered during comparison. From this comparative study one can make a general checklist study which cover each and every aspect required for evaluation and certification for any building project.
