Background: COVID-19 has caused around a million deaths throughout the world and despite the prompt lockdown and rigorous efforts from the government and health authorities, the case numbers in India were still staggering. To explore this furthermore, our study was formulated and aimed to find out the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) among the public in Tamil Nadu.Methods: A cross-sectional, online survey on the COVID-19 pandemic was conducted among the public from 21st July 2020 to 3rd August 2020. Background: The aim of the present study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) regarding COVID-19 pandemic among general population.Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among general population residing in Navi Mumbai, India, by distributing online based predesigned, prevalidated and semi-structured survey questionnaire through social media from 20 April to 27 April, 2020. The survey instrument consisted of questions based on demographic characteristics followed by knowledge (12 questions), attitude (11 questions) and practices (5 questions). Individuals above 18 years of age, able to understand English language and willing to voluntarily consent were included in the study.Results: A total of 817 participants were included in the study. Background: Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is declared pandemic by the WHO. It is a very contagious disease. The global mortality rate of Corona virus disease is around 3.1%. Background: The 2019 coronavirus outbreak has caused a global health epidemic which changed the way we view our environment and our daily lives. The rate of transmission challenged our sense of identity and for safety and to prevent the spread of infection also need social distancing. Objectives: The survey aimed to assess the knowledge & attitude on coronavirus infection among the general population. Methods: A total of 620 participants from Odisha urban community agreed to participate in the survey regarding COVID-19. A self-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Participants were selected by convenient sampling method. The demographic characteristics were represented by frequencies and percentage. Descriptive statistics used to calculate mean, SD and P-value. Results: Among the participants (n=620), most of the participants 75.9% were females, more than half 59.4% of participants were between 31 to 40 years, majority 75.1% were living in the nuclear family, the majority 76.4% participants were married and a majority 75.9% were completed graduation. 80.28% of participants have good knowledge, 58.03% of participant's attitude was positive. Most of 72.6 % participants believe India can win the battle against COVID 19, 85.1% reported that their daily routine changed due to the pandemic. Conclusion: The emerging coronavirus disease outbreak demands all people should maintain a minimum of 1-meter distance from each other and different various methods to ensure the safety of general people. There is a need for active public awareness, clear information, and strict guidelines to improve the knowledge and attitude of the general population.
Public knowledge, Attitude and Practices towards COVID-19: A cross-sectional study in India
Background: In December 2019, a pathogenic human corona virus SARS-CoV-2, corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19), was recognized and has caused serious illness and numerous deaths. In an effort to mitigate the outbreak of COVID-19, many countries have imposed drastic lockdown and movement control on their residents. The effectiveness of these mitigation measures is highly dependent on cooperation and compliance of all members of society. The knowledge, attitudes and practices people hold toward the disease play an important role in determining a country's readiness to accept behavioral change measures from health authorities. The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge levels, attitudes and practices toward COVID-19 among the Indian public. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional online survey of Indian residents was conducted between 9th July and 18th July 2020.The survey questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics, 13 items on knowledge, 5 items on attitudes and 8 items on practices, modified from a previously published questionnaire on COVID-19. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, t-tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were conducted. Results: Results obtained after statistical analysis of responses of the questionnaire shows that mean knowledge score of the participants was 10.921 (out of 13), while mean scores of attitude and practices were 2.930 (out of 5) and 7.42 (out of 8) respectively. Significant difference of knowledge (p value <0.05) was found when comparison between area of residence (urban > rural), level of education (PG/Professional > UG, 12th std.) and occupation (HCW > non HCW) was done. Significant difference in attitude was seen only when occupation was compared. Non Health care workers (non HCW) showing more positivity in attitude than the HCWs. As far as practices are concerned, there was no significant difference found in any of the socio-demographic variable. All the section of the society were found to follow healthy practices relevant to prevention of COVID-19. Conclusion: The present study provides a comprehensive examination of the knowledge, attitudes and practices of Indian population towards COVID-19. The findings suggest that people of our country have an acceptable level of knowledge on COVID-19 and are generally positive in their outlook on overcoming the pandemic and most of the participants follows healthy practices. Government should conduct similar studies at national level to include large number of participants. Analysis of KAP in country's public will help government in formulating policies for handling COVID-19 health crisis in a much better way.
Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge as well as attitude towards the COVID-19 pandemic between healthcare professional as well as pubic or non-medical staff. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted between three months January 2020 to March 2020 at different Hospitals. The data was collected by the implementing some sampling strategy and also by the questionnaire regarding knowledge, attitude as well as preventive practices in the healthcare professional, non medical workers and public. There are different statistical methods are used to determine the results such as t-test as well as ANOVA. Results: There are almost 300 people participate in this study including healthcare workers, non-healthcare workers and pubic. The results show that most of the people have a good and efficient knowledge regarding COVID-19 and their attitude is quiet positive. There are almost two third of the participants well known of the mode of transmission, treatment as well as isolation period for the person if had doubt about this virus and also apply or use different preventive measures such as wear mask when go out and to wash the hands when come home and also stay at home. Thus it is determined that there is a negative correlation between the knowledge as well as attitude scores. Conclusion: It is concluded that most of the heath workers, non-health workers and public is well known about the knowledge, attitude and done preventive practice about the COVID-19. In some participants the level of knowledge is not proper thus there is a need to provide more information by starting some campaign.

Introduction: India is on the track to overtake US covid-19 caseload as India is rapidly climbing towardsit’s peak. India faces an acute shortage of front-line doctors to fight against Covid-19. Thus, the recruitment of undergraduate medical students into the health care system has been considered by few state governments. This survey was conducted among undergraduate medical students to understand their knowledge, attitude, and preparedness towards the ongoing pandemic. Numerous international and national guidelines came forth. Government Of Gujarat and Plexus MD have launched CCMC [Certificate Course for Management of Covid-19] an online Training program which integrated all the current interim guidance by CDC, WHO, ICMR, MoHFW guidelines for all the medical students and healthcare workers. This study sought to determine the effectiveness of online Covid-19 Training program. This study intended to understand the level of Knowledge Attitude and Practice (KAP) among the Undergraduate students through online questionnaire survey. Questions were adapted from CCMC online training course. Methodology: After taking Ethical approval, data have been collected from undergraduate medical students belonging to three different medical colleges of Gujarat using online Google form survey via what’s app. The online questionnaire used in this study was drafted and validated by experts before hosting it online. Result: Total 414 participants have given consent to participate in this study. Overall score of all the study participants were 46.15% which implied their moderate cognitive domain. This study disclosed that 49.27% study participants were trained in covid-19 management course, rest 50.72% were untrained. On applying Mann Whitney U test, statistically significant difference (P < 0.05) in between trained and untrained participants have been demonstrated. Mean attitude 3.87 score revealed positive attitude towards preventive measure and perception in controlling covid-19 infection. On applying Spearman’s correlation test for non-parametric data, positive co-relation of knowledge with attitude and knowledge with practice was found to be significant (P <0.05). Conclusion:This study conveyed the significance of effective of Covid-19 management Training. This study recorded significant (P <0.05) positive co-relation of knowledge with attitude and knowledge with practice. A good level of knowledge and positive attitude towards preventive measures with adherence to standard guidelines provided by state and central government would combat the covid19 prevailing situation.
