Trend Analysis of the Costing of Denim Wash: A Study on Bangladeshi Washing Industries
Denim industry is one of the largest in the global market due to its exotic fashion trend. Bangladesh is the largest exporter of denim products over the European market and just after China in worldwide production. Fashion sense in denim fabric is drastically increasing due to the introduction of multiple washing methods. It is a type of fabric finishing treated in a different way for the change of appearance. This paper focuses on the denim washing cost trend within the year 2010 to 2018, and it aims to find out various consequences to analyze the market status of denim washing. The study uses the primary data collected from ten leading denim washing factories in Bangladesh. The study shows that, around 2010, the trend of dry washing processes was not so familiar. Hence, around 2015, there was an extensive practice executed which dominates the conventional wet washing technologies. On the contrary, process like sandblasting got banned from around 2013 because of its harmful effects on workers and users. Besides, various expensive wet washing technologies like acid wash, stone enzyme wash, towel wash, brightener treatment, optical wash, etc. has been incorporated to provide quality washing effects. This paper shows the costing trend of different wash technologies. This is because the majority of the dry and wet wash technologies became more expensive with time gradually due to the increase in labor cost, utility costs, chemical, and process costs. Furthermore, it also shows that some new technologies, like laser technology, which provided effective cost with reasonable quality through the initial investments, are high. The paper gives a prediction for the upcoming trend of denim washing as well as the cost of the technologies.

An Empirical Analysis of Sustainable Denim Washing Technology in the Apparel Industries
Sience Publishing Group, 2021
Over the last few decades, a lot of innovations and development works had already made denim "classic" in the fashion cycle. The modern consumers of today's world are not only devoting themselves on clothing comfort but also emphasizing on economic and environmental sustainability. As a result, there has been increasing interests in terms of using environment friendly, non-toxic and highly biodegradable wet and dry process of denim washing technology, which is a combination of both the mechanical and chemical washing process. These are generally applied for denim garments and casual wearing. Without garment washing technology, apparels can't draw proper attention on its end-users, just because it includes very few value added properties (such as hand feel, clothing comfort) with a view to attaining customer satisfaction. In addition, it improves the quality characteristics of apparels within low price margin. Some ecofriendly dry process of garments washing includes whiskering, hand sand, grinding, destroy effects. On the contrary, some wet process (such as enzyme wash, super white wash, bleach wash, acid wash, acid-stone wash, enzyme-stone wash and stone wash) utilizes very less amount of toxic dyes and chemicals. This research work simply made a general discussion related to the different types of garments dry and wet process. It also dealt with necessary apparatus, SOPs (Standard Operating Process), operational steps of sustainable and ecofriendly denim washing technology. Within limited global resources, it can help manufacturers and garments washing technologists to diversify the product and market of apparel trades.

The denim garments, which are made with many different sewing patterns, are given the final appearance by applying industrial washing processes and these are turned into high value-added fashion products. In this study, denim fabric control performed in a textile company, washing department after weaving for one month was investigated and as a result, washing defects are examined by using statistical methods. Pareto analysis, cause and effect diagram, and P control graphs, which are statistical process control methods, were used to classify the defects seen as a result of quality control. In Pareto analysis, chemical repair (20, 52 %), blue floor (19, 86 %), chemical intensive (19, 56 %), light floor (10, 71 %), deep floor (7, 95%) are in first five places among 53 defects and account for 78, 6 % of total number of defects. Of the 53 defects encountered during the washing process, it is found that only five of these defects could be prevented during the washing process, thus reducing the total waste by about 80%. In cause and effect diagram, washing defects are divided into categories as chemical, foreground, intensity, repair, tinctorial and processual and subdimensions as causes are determined. In the Laney P control chart, all processes are determined under control.
Evaluate the Strength of Denim Goods Using Different Washing Technique
Journal of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering
Day by day, the demand and popularity of denim have increased. With the increase in demand for denim, washing has also increased. When we washed a piece of denim fabric, then its properties also changed. The properties are tensile strength, GSM, color fading, stiffness, abrasion resistance, moisture regain, etc. In this study, we conduct different washing processes on denim fabric such are Stonewash, Caustic wash, Acid wash, Normal wash, Pigment wash, Sandblasting, and Super whitewash. After washing, the properties of denim fabric have been analyzed especially strength. The tear and tensile strength were measured by ISO standard. From the above washing method, Normal & pigment wash showed good strength properties comparing with others.

The princip al aim of this work is to study the effect of matter , types of launderings (stone wash, enzyme wash, mixed wash and rinse), special treatments applied during the manufacturing process of garment washing (brushing, sanding, resin-treatment, bleach-treatment, permanganate-spray and softening) and their succession on the fabric mechanical properties: T ear strength (Tand Breaking strength (B. S). The resultthat all these treatments, applied to obtain more worn appearance and aged look for garment has decreased the mechanical properties. Moreover , the resin- treatment is the most aggressive for cloths in the set of the special treatments. In fact, whatever the following washing process is stone washing or mixed washing, the finishing resin-treatment destroys the matter and reduces a lot the mechanical resistance. Thus, we proved that in the case of washed denim fabric, it is advisable to avoid the line of succession of treatments containing the resintreatment and mixed was...
Sustainable Denim Washing by Process Optimization
Journal of Textile Science and Technology
Now-a-days sustainability is a crucial issue in denim washing. This research initiative is performed aiming to resolve the crisis of sustainability in denim washing by process optimization technique which highlights the reduction of water, chemical and time as well as costing of denim garments. In this research work, process optimization technique is administered by reducing several wash & chemical application baths into a single bath confirming without alteration of physical properties and color fastness of denim fabric. For confirmation without alteration of physical properties and color fastness, several tests are carried out like tensile and tear strength, color fastness to rubbing, color fastness to wash, color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration and CMC (Carboxy Methyl Cellulose) value for both conventional and sustainable washing method. BOD, COD and pH of waste water is determined which shows better result in sustainable washing method also. Reduction of rinsing time in sustainable washing method results in less consumption of water by 475 and process time by 19% and also saves $0.34/ dozen garments which validate the cost effectiveness of this sustainable washing method.
