A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ATTITUDES OF EDUCATED AND UNEDUCATED PARENTS TOWARDS FEMALE EDUCATION IN DISTRICT DERA ISMAIL KHAN

The problem under study was the comparative effectiveness of educated and uneducated parents towards female education in district Dera Ismail khan. The study was significant because it helpful in determining the attitudes of parent towards the education of girls. A representative sample of 50 fathers and 50 mothers was selected randomly from rural and urban areas of District Dera Ismail Khan. Out of these 50 fathers 25 were illiterate and 25 were educated. Similar was the case of females. Likert type attitude scale was used in the study as instrument. The t-statistics was used as the analysis of data.

GENDER BIASED PARENTAL ATTITUDES TOWARDS EDUCATION: A CASE STUDY OF VILLAGE DASUHA, DISTRICT FAISALABAD

This research paper is an attempt to study the preference of males over the females and the gender discrimination against the girl child in access to literacy in a male dominated society. This preference of males over females has been studied keeping in view the information provided by the people in the village. The study was conducted in Dasuha, (242-R.B.), a part of District Faisalabad. Empirical data were collected through anthropological techniques under qualitative paradigms. This article starts with an ethnographical account of the village which includes historical background, general facilities in the village, their social and economic organization. In the later part it will highlight the parental attitudes towards their sons and daughters especially in the field of education. An effort has also been made to find out the changes in the attitudes brought by the development and the awareness created among the parents about the female education.

Ilyas Khan Research Paper on "Parent's Perceptions towards Female Education" A Case Study of UC Sheikhu District Charsadda KP Pakistan

The purpose of the present study was to identify the perceptions of the parents regarding Female Education in Union Council Sheikhu District charsadda and to explore whether their perceptions show significant differences with respect to certain background variables. More specifically, parents’ perception of benefits of Female Education and barriers to Female Education were examined. This paper attempts to illustrate the importance of female education, and some factors which support or facilitate female education. The study was significant because it helpful in determining the perceptions of parent towards the education of girls. Attitude towards female education has improved; more people these days support female education. The majority of people have started sending their daughters to school but still some reasons including economic instability, school distance, practice of traditional beliefs and early marriages which hinder female education. It is suggested that working towards changing the attitudes of parents regarding daughters’ education and upbringing, and changing community’s perceptions towards the social and educational status of females require emphasizing and practicing Islamic teachings.

Cultural Barriers to Girls’ Education

This study “Cultural Barriers to Girls Education” shows local perception of parents regarding their daughters’ education. In spite of the fact that the people are aware of the importance of literacy, there is a gender gap. People are still reluctant to send their daughters to the schools. There are certain cultural barriers to girls’ education which helps to maintain the status quo. The pardah has been a major barrier for the girls’ education since a long time. The other barriers include division of labour, male decision makers, nonparticipation in economic activities, temporary family membership, and inheritance. Fathers belonging to different classes and age groups have their own reasons for not sending their daughters to school. The group of fathers aging more than 60 years was more concerned about pardah whereas the group between 20 to 40 years had economic reasons. Mothers have slightly different opinion about female education. They have their own reasons for not sending their daughters to school. The pattern of change among males and females was almost similar. In younger groups, both of them were more concerned for economic reasons. So with the passage of time the reasons have been shifted from pardah to economy which includes nonparticipation in economic activities, investment on temporary family member and the inheritance.This research was conducted in Villag Dasuha District Faisalabad. Qualitative anthropological techniques were used to collect empirical data.

Exploring Gender Neutrality in Education (A Case Study of Village Zandra in Balochistan)

This research paper "Gender Neutrality in Education" shows local perception of parents regarding their daughters' education. In spite of the fact that the people are aware of the importance of literacy, there is gender gap. People are still relectant to send their daughters to the schools. This study identifies the factors influencing parental attitude towards their daughters' education. The focus of study is to find the actual reason of low participation rate of female education with reference to gender empowerment. The efforts have been made to find out the culture perception of parents regarding their daughter's education and gender discrimination between the sons and daughters. There is no financial benefits for parents to literate their daughters. The main focus of the study is to explore the changes in perception and attitude of the parents towards literacy with reference to gender. This research was conducted in Villag Zandra District Ziarat. Qualitative anthropological techniques were used to collect emperical data.

Girls' education is drawing greater attention of our educationist's, government, parents and public. According static's of the census of India, the graph reveals to us that the percentage of educated women is very low in our country than men. Our country is suffering from the oppression of women. Real development, therefore, would dawn on our country only with the emancipation of women and awaking of the masses. It is global problem to awaken the people towards, "Gender equality." It is hitting India in a worse manner. Changes in a demographic profile of a nation depends largely on attitude and behaviour of individuals in respect of the status of women, gender equality, sex differences, job differences and the developmental issues. So, there is something fundamentally wrong as there may be same cause far more uneducated women in our country. These causes should be found and proper solutions should be worked out so that all women receive education.

Traditional Thinking and Attitude of Parents towards Female Education

The current study was carried out in district Upper Dir, Malakand division, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, with sole objective to ascertain ‘Traditional thinking and attitude of parents towards female education’. The study unit includes parents in the study area. A sample size of 204 was chosen for interview. Uni-variate and bi-variate analyses were drawn through percentage based presentations cross tabulation respectively. Chi-square was used to determine the level of association between independent variable and dependent variable. The findings reveal that 98% of the respondents favored the opinion that education improves the behavior of an individual and again 98% respondents replied that education acts as a bridge between family and society. Education prepares children for adult role is approved by 99% of the respondents, education enables an individual to get high status and female plays an important role in the socialization of children is reported by 98% and 99% respondents respectively....

Analytical Study on Parents Attitude Towards the Education of Girl Children with Special Reference to Villupuram District, Tamilnadu

Learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development, is facilitated by education. Education began as a means of passing down cultural knowledge from generation to generation. In today's world, a woman's education is critical in every way. We can only expect a happy family life, better education, increased productivity, and economic prosperity if women are educated. The study's goal is to investigate parents' attitudes toward the education of girl children in rural areas, as well as to determine the parents' educational and cultural backgrounds, as well as to assess the various factors that influence parents' attitudes toward girl child education, and the social impact. The investigation is carried out with the goal of using just analytical data as a final result. The data was gathered through a questionnaire, with a sample size of 100 people drawn from rural areas of Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. SPSS was used to review and analyze the data that had been collected. As a result of this study's findings, the study has concentrated on the social advancement strategy and how parents view their children's schooling.
