The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Job Performance via the Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction

Recent research findings are accumulating evidence that Emotional Intelligence (EI) is associated positively with important work manners. However, the research on Emotional Intelligence is mainly conducted in business field and in western countries; therefore there is a shortage of research on Emotional Intelligence in the context of public sector in Jordan. The aim of this study is to explore the influence of Emotional Intelligence on job performance and job satisfaction as well as the mediating role of job satisfaction on job performance among the administrative employees of the University of Jordan. The present study is based on Mayer and Salovey's (2000) ability model of Emotional Intelligence. A sample consisted of 354 employees from the University of Jordan who completed self-report questionnaire. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used in order to test the proposed hypotheses. The research found that Emotional Intelligence is positively correlated with job performance and job satisfaction. The findings of this study also confirm the mediatory role of job satisfaction in relationship between Emotional Intelligence and job performance. It is suggested that Emotional Intelligence can be used to predict job performance and job satisfaction, therefore the understanding of Emotional Intelligence theory and its applications can be promoted for managerial and human resource practices throughout public sector organizations.

Studying the Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction

The purpose of this study was investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction SAPCO branch of Iran Khodro. Today, when people talk about job satisfaction and performance, Emotional Intelligence is one of the key issues that is considered. Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive and express emotion, assimilate emotion and thought, perception and logic with emotion and excitement of organizing themselves and others. According to studies and researches emotional intelligence can create a pleasant working environment and make the job satisfaction of employees and thus improving the organization. Data for this study include all employees of SAPCO branch of Iran Khodro. This study included 100 employees who were selected by simple random sampling. The data collected in this study, the scale for measuring emotional intelligence and self-shot Minnesota (MSQ) Job Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to measure job satisfaction. In this study, to assess the validity of standard questionnaires to determine its reliability alpha coefficient was used. Finally, the analysis of the data obtained it was concluded that the impact of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction of employees.

Job satisfaction mediating towards effect of emotional intelligence on performance

The study was conducted at BBPOM in Denpasar. The number of samples used was as many as 90 people using the saturated sample selection method. Data collection using a questionnaire that uses a Likert scale. Data analysis techniques were performed using structural equation modeling with a partial least square approach and using the VAF test to test the role of mediation. The results showed that emotional intelligence had a significant positive effect on employee performance at BBPOM in Denpasar with a path coefficient of 0.469. Job satisfaction is known to partially mediate the relationship of emotional intelligence to employee performance at BBPOM in Denpasar. Job Satisfaction and Emotional Intelligence: Their Association to Job Performance

Using the descriptive-correlational method, the study generally aimed in determining the relationship of job satisfaction and emotional intelligence to job performance among the employees of Aparri East National High School. This study made use of three instruments: job satisfaction index, and BarOn EQ; job satisfaction which was developed by Sta Maria; and IPCRF during the rating period, SY 2018-2019. Meanwhile, frequency and percentage, mean, standard deviations and chi-square were used for data analysis. Results revealed that the emotional intelligence is a tool which can be used by employees to achieve higher job satisfaction and job performance where self-actualization, empathy, reality testing, assertiveness and stress tolerance are evident. Moreover, the employees are satisfied with their job which represents the normal, solid level of satisfaction that majority do for their jobs, where they are exceptionally performing. Regardless of age, highest educational attainment, nature of appointment, position and length of service the employees were outstanding. However, male employees tend to have better job performance than their female counterparts. The emotional intelligence of the employees does not dictate their performance on the job assigned to them. To note that a better or (more positive) perceived satisfaction tend to produce better job performance. Thus, the employees perform well but they have less satisfaction on their work because they like some changes in their work, such as better payment, better opportunities and less stress on their work.

The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction: Applied Study in the Jordanian Telecommunication Sector

The results of the model described that emo tional intelligence positive significantly effects the job satisfaction of employees which co mprises the pay & remuneration, promotion opportunities, supervision , monetary and non monetary fringe benefits, contingent rewards , opportunities, supervision , monetary and non monetary fringe benefits, contingent rewards , operating procedures , co-workers, comm unication and nature of work. The covariance scores of variables are show n in the table 7.3. All the co variances are significant at 1% and 5% level of significance (p < .001, p<.05). It is also suggested that fit of the model can be enhanced by allowi ng the error term to correlate.

Emotional Intelligence and Its Impact on Job Satisfaction of Employees (Case study: Qom Regional Water Company

Job satisfaction is one of the fundamental and interesting subjects in modern management so that the decrease of job satisfaction in employees will cause huge costs for organizations and on the contrary its presence will develop organizations to a large extent. emotional intelligence is one of the important items which have a large impact on job satisfaction. It has recently attracted the attention of many experts so that some scientists attribute up to 80% of people's success especially leaders and managers to it.The aim of this study was to demonstrate the impact of emotional intelligence and its components on job satisfaction. In this study the effect of managers' emotional intelligence on employees' job satisfaction was evaluated. The method of the study was descriptive survey. The main hypothesis of this study indicates that there is a significant difference between managers' emotional intelligence and employees' job satisfaction. According to Daniel Goleman model emotional intelligence has five components of self awareness, self regulation, self motivation , empathy and social skills among which the component of social skills has the most relationship and self awareness has the least relationship with employees' job satisfaction. finally, the study results show a relative large correlation between managers' emotional intelligence and employees'' job satisfaction.

Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction: A Correlational Study

Background: Emotional intelligence and Job satisfaction are two concepts of high interest in the modern work environment. They serve as a competitive edge in personal and organizational life. However, there are only few studies that explore the factors which affect the two concepts. Purpose: The primary aim of this study is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. It also tries to analyze how designation, experience and marital status of an employee affect his/her emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Methodology: Data was collected from 208 respondents of an international electronic firm operating in India using self administered questionnaires. Findings were made with the help of standard statistical tools such as Karl Pearson coefficient of correlation, ANOVA, t-test and so on. Findings and Suggestions: The study reveals that there is a very high positive relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction. It also shows that designation of the employee doesn"t affect his job satisfaction and emotional intelligence. However, experience and marital status has significant effects on the two concepts.

Scrutinizing the linkage between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction

In the context of the sentimental uprising, emotional intelligence is a significant predictor of organizational outcomes in management studies. Emotional intelligence and job satisfaction are receiving a lot of attention in today's workplace. In private and hierarchical life, they exert dominance. Therefore, the goal of this study is to investigate the link between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. 315 academics employed by Ethiopia's public higher education institutions were the subjects of a cross-sectional study. The results were obtained by utilizing standard statistical methods like the correlation coefficient and square multiple correlations. Job satisfaction was found to be positively correlated with the four dimensions of emotional intelligence. The results and their repercussions are presented and discussed in this paper.

EVALUATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND JOB ATTITUDE OF MANAGERS AND STAFF

Introduction: The current research was conducted to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and job attitude of managers and staff. Materials and Methods: The research population included all managers and staff of Petroleum University of Technology in cities of Ahwaz, Abadan, Tehran, and Mahmoudabad. The sample size was determined to be 210 people, who were randomly selected, using Cochran's formula. Data collection tools included emotional intelligence questionnaire and job attitude questionnaire, developed by integrating and localizing standard questionnaires. The normality of the data was also tested using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov technique. Research hypotheses were tested by Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling using LISREL software. Results: The research results revealed that emotional intelligence has a significant relationship with job attitude of managers and staff. Among the dimensions of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relations management, and emotional intelligence quality), social awareness with the standard factor load of 0.71 had the highest effect on job attitude. In addition, it was found that while emotional intelligence quality with the standard factor load of 0.21 had the lowest effect on job attitude, results of the t-value (t-value) calculation indicate that this relationship is also significant. Discussion and Conclusion: emotional intelligence quality component was investigated for the first time in this research. The low level of its relationship with job attitude does not mean that it should be overlooked, but it might be correlated with some components of job attitude or other issues related to organizations, which it requires further investigations.

Organizations affect not only people’s lives limited with working hours, but also their whole lives. People with high emotional and social capacity, people who can take them under control, understand and manage emotions of others expertly are more advantegeous both in their private and professional lives. The opinion that helping people to increase their emotional intelligence and emotional capabilities means to increase both life satisfaction and job satisfaction is being mor and more emphasized. Under this scope, in order to investigate the effect of the emotional intelligence of nurses and midwives, who consist an important manpower in the health system, to their job satisfaction, an investigation has been conducted in Fethiye State Hospital with 80 individuals. Of the workers investigated, 36.3% were in 21-30 age group, 62.5% were 2 years-college graduated, 98.8% were clinical nurses, 36.3% worked since 6-10 years. It was found that total emotional intelligence of the workers was low (X=22.54, SS=5.14), and average job satisfaction levels were middle level (X=15.62, SS=3.27). A positive association was found between the emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. As a conclusion, the relationships between the demographic variables and emotional intelligence and job satisfaction were evaluated in the study.
