Supersymmetric form of the string action in the presence of the gauge field (original) (raw)
Superstring in the Presence of the Worldsheet Gauge Field
2007
We study the superstring theory with an Abelian worldsheet gauge field. The components of the gauge field appear as a space and a time coordinates. We call them as "fictitious coordinates". The worldsheet supersymmetry and the Poincaré symmetry of this model will be analyzed. The T-duality and quantization of the two fictitious coordinates also will be obtained.

Super-Liouville Theory from Superstring Theory in the Presence of Gauge Worldsheet Fields
ISRN High Energy Physics, 2013
We obtain in this work the super-Liouville theory induced from the action of the superstring theory in the presence of gauge worldsheet fields; such construction is based on a special ansatz that gives a special value of -fields . We discuss the integrability of super-Liouville theory through the Lax formulation, and we establish also the superfields formulation of super-Liouville equations.
New Strings with Worldsheet Supersymmetry
Modern Physics Letters A, 2004
We suggest a new model of string theory with world-sheet supersymmetry. It possesses an additional global fermionic symmetry which is similar in many ways to BRST symmetry. The spectrum consists of massless states of Rarita-Schwinger fields describing infinite tower of half-integer spins.
World-sheet string duality and the hidden supersymmetry
2002
It is reviewed how space-time supersymmetry is realized nonlinearly in open superstring theory without making the GSO projection. We show that the world-sheet string dualities, viz. dualities of open-closed strings and of open-open strings, play crucial roles for the existence of 10 dimensional N=2 supersymmetry in a spontaneously broken phase. We also speculate on a possible mechanism of the restoration
Quantum geometry of the covariant superstring with N = 1 global supersymmetry
Physics Letters B, 1986
The quantization of the superstring with N = 1 global supersymmetry is considered in the functional integral formalism. The term in the effective action defined by the conformal anomaly is calculated. It is shown that the effective action is determined not only by the intrinsic properties of the surface (i.e. by the metric h~3) but depends also on the way the surface is embedded in D-dimensional space (i.e. on the second quadratic form of the surface). The selfduality ofN = 1 superstring theory with a Wess-Zumino term is pointed out.
Geometrostasis and torsion in covariant superstrings
Physics Letters B, 1985
We give a geometric argument to understand the relative strength of the metric and torsion terms that constitute the covariant actions for freely propagating superstrings. We show the relative strength is precisely that for which the torsion flattens the underlying superspace manifold, i.e. for which geometrostasis occurs, thereby yielding trivially integrable systems on the world-sheet, in complete analogy with conventional two-dimensional o-models. We fully discuss free heterotic superstrings, and give partial results for N = 2 superstrings.
Self-dual strings and N = 2 supersymmetric field theory
Nuclear Physics B, 1996
We show how the Riemann surface of N = 2 Yang-Mills eld theory arises in type II string compactications on Calabi-Yau threefolds. The relevant local geometry is given by brations of ALE spaces. The 3-branes that give rise to BPS multiplets in the string descend to self-dual strings on the Riemann surface, with tension determined by a canonically xed Seiberg-Witten dierential . This gives, eectively, a dual formulation of Yang-Mills theory in which gauge bosons and monopoles are treated on equal footing, and represents the rigid analog of type II-heterotic string duality. The existence of BPS states is essentially reduced to a geodesic problem on the Riemann surface with metric jj 2 . This allows us, in particular, to easily determine the spectrum of stable BPS states in eld theory.
