Practical limits of viscoelasticity on periodicity effect (original) (raw)

Abstract

Phonic crystals (PC) are of primary interest for their numerous applications and developments. An area of investigation for periodic plane structures lead to selective filters, and more particularly to solidly mounted resonators (SMR). This study is aimed at showing the practical limits of viscoelasticity in one of the constitutive layers for the design of a reflection spectrum. Here, the studied configuration is designed for laboratory purpose, with an elementary period constituted of two layers n = 1, 2. Their properties are dn, Zn, and an, their thickness, acoustic impedance and attenuation, respectively. The N-periodic plane multilayer structure is immersed in water of acoustic impedance Z0. This immersed periodic structure could be summarized with the set of acoustic impedance Z0;(Z1;Z2)´N;Z0 and associated set of thickness (d1;d2)´N.
