Multilingual Instructional Model of Pesantren Schools in Indonesia

—The study investigated the multilingual instructional model of pesantren schools. It employed qualitative study by applying grounded theory. This study was conducted at the three of pesantren schools in the city of Makassar, Indonesia (Pesantren IMMIM, Pondok Madinah, and Pesantren Darul Arqam Muhammadiyah Gombara). The respondent of the current study were four non-native speakers of English, Arabic, and Mandarin teachers who have the ability to speak and to communicate in three or more languages. In collecting the data, the researchers employed three primary data collection techniques, they are observation, interview, and examining the record. The results found that the multilingual instructional model of pesantren schools applied simultaneous-sequential model with some phases to generate the students changed from monolingual to multilingualism and at the end, they become mono multilingualism.

The Sula language is a language found in the Maluku region, which is still used by the Buru people, especially in the village of Sawah. This regional language has a linguist system that is different from other local words , so it must be preserved as national wealth. This study aims to obtain the Sula Dialek Falahu language adjective morphology of Sawah Village in Namlea District. This research is field research and literature with data collection techniques, namely: elicitation, recording, and recording. The source of this research data is oral data obtained through informants. After the information is collected, the next steps taken are to analyze the data with the following steps; describe the data obtained, classify, and summarize the results obtained from the informant. The results showed that the adjective morphological system found adjective characteristics, both morphological, syntactic, and semantic attributes in the Sula language.

Perception of Senior High School EFL Teachers in Papua, Indonesia towards Their Own Competence

—This paper reports the competence of the English Foreign Language (EFL) Senior High School (SHS) teachers in Papua, Indonesia which sought to investigate the EFL SHS teachers' perception towards their own competence. This cross-sectional survey research design applied multistage sampling technique in determining the sample of the study. There were 159 EFL SHS teachers from six selected townships in Papua as the sample. The researchers employed questionnaire and interview as the instrument for collecting data. Data were analyzed utilizing descriptive statistics to run for frequencies and percentages. The result revealed that the EFL SHS teachers in Papua perceived that their teacher competence was good. As the majority of the respondents (91.8%) contended that they possessed good competency and only a few of respondents (8.2%) claimed that their competence was very good. None of the respondents asserted either they have poor or fairly good competence.

Consumption is no longer merely the fulfilment of activities and the basic needs of human functioning. Consumption has become a culture, the culture of consumption. Namlea society is a miniature form of the countryside to the urban condition, in its development, there is a difference between development and mentality. Prejudice on Indonesia Social Media

This research discusses the form and function of language on social media which is considered to contain the prejudice and racial intolerance. In social media, language is used as a way of expressing thoughts, so that the use of language on social media is full of emotive language. The use of language in social media also tends to be propaganda. Propaganda on social media can be positive and can also be negative by taking advantage of prejudice which serves as a support to influence people who read what is written on social media. This research will focus on analyzing the form and function of language which is considered to contain the prejudice and racial intolerance in social media. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data in this study are texts that are considered to contain negative prejudice on Facebook. The method used is the observation method with documentation techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis includes; identification, classification, analysis, and conclusion. The results showed that the form of discourse strategy used on Facebook was comparison, generalization, and appointment of minorities. The research results also show that all types of discourse strategies tend to be used to show negative prejudice. The language function used is the function of informing and showing goals.

Community Learning Centers' Efforts in Improving Community's Information Literacy to Prevent Cyber Crime during the Pandemic Era

This study explores the community learning centers' effort in improving the community's information literacy to prevent cybercrime during the pandemic era through an empirical examination of the phenomenon of pandemic COVID 19 social impacts in the specific context of Indonesia. The study adopts a simple research design methodological approach based on a triangulation of data sources, including extensive interviews from five community learning center's manager, interviews with community education experts, as well as secondary data. The study finds that community learning center's efforts consist of conducting virtual socialization and also mentoring to the community on information literacy, revitalizing parenting education on guiding children during their screen time, activating community reading center to create a lively discussion and fostering community's critical thinking and information assessment. This study makes several contributions to the literature on community education, first, by presenting empirical evidence on the real gifts of Community learning activities Center for improving the quality of Indonesian society, especially during the pandemic COVID 19 era. Second, it provides a deeper understanding of the social impact of the information literate community and its correlation to preventing cyber crime widespread in the city. Third, it highlights the importance of community learning centers in emerging countries.
