AN EVALUATION OF MIXED METHODS STUDIES: A CASE STUDY FOR TURKEY

First and foremost, I would like to present my deep sense of thanks and gratitude to my thesis supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlknur YÜKSEL-KAPTANOĞLU for suggesting this topic, her patience, enthusiasm, valuable ideas and support concerning the extended period of writing this thesis. I also would like to thank profusely to my professors, colleagues and the institute staff to provide such a teaching and learning environment. Undoubtedly, I am indebted to my father, my mother, and sister whose value to me improves with the years. Finally, I acknowledge my dear Sophie for her constant support and presence.

Review and Comparison of Multi-Method and Mixed Method Application in Research Studies

European Journal of Management Issues

Purpose: To explore the feasibility of using the multi-method and mixed-method in research studies by reviewing and comparing both methods. Design / Method / Approach: Using the literature, historical background on mixed-methods and multiple-methods design principles are collected and applied in this paper in a systematic review format. Findings: The major finding from this research is that incorporating quantitative and qualitative data in the form of a mixed or multi-method study has the potential to dramatically increase the accuracy and quality of any research's analysis and conclusions. Theoretical Implications: The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of how mixed and multi-method studies have distinct and distinguishable characteristics; it encourages researchers to conduct investigations appropriately to accomplish their research goals. The authors of this article introduce different designs (e.g., embedded design, explanatory design) which combine a mixed-...

A World of Possibilities in Mixed Methods: Review of the Combinations of Strategies Used to Integrate the Phases, Results, and Qualitative and Quantitative Data (invited paper).

Mixed methods (MM) involve combining qualitative (QUAL) and quantitative (QUAN) methods in program evaluation, primary research, and literature review . They are being increasingly used, specifically in health sciences. Over the years, several strategies to integrate QUAL and QUAN phases, results, and data have been proposed but rarely conceptualized and never tested in a comprehensive manner . For each MM researcher and teacher, one of the challenges is to plan, conduct, and report simply and clearly what are the applied specific MM strategies and their combinations. As a contribution for addressing this issue, the purpose of this article is to propose and test a conceptual framework of the combinations of strategies that are used in primary MM research.

Implementation of Qualitative and Mixed Methods Researches

Proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality

The objective of the qualitative and quantitative integration in research designs is the reconciliation between paradigms and methods in research in social science. The objective to specify the general epistemological formulations on which qualitative methods are based in more precise and current methodological proposals, since we are in an exciting moment in the qualitative research in which it is appreciated a clear tendency in the use of a mixed methods research. During the Twentieth-First Century that have favoured the rise of mixed methods researches that enhance the mutual invigoration of the two types of methods, and facilitate the triangulation through operations. The aim of this track is to provide a space for reflection and put into practice the foundation, operationalization, and fields of application of qualitative and mixed methods researches.
