Organizational Citizenship Behaviour and Public Sector School Teachers' Commitment towards Their Work: An Evidence from Sri Lanka

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) and organizational commitment of public sector school teachers in Anuradhapura District. OCB considered as the independent variable and the organizational commitment considered as the dependent variable. The researcher selected 100 teachers in Anuradhapura district as the sample of this study by using simple random sampling method and used structured questionnaire to collect data. Respondents were asked to indicate their agreement or disagreement on Five Point Likert as the scaling method. Data analysis was performed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 21.0 version. According to the data analysis results, there was a significant and positive relationship between OCB and organizational commitmentwith an adjusted R square value of 0.73. The recommendations may helpful to future increase of OCB and organizational commitment in the education field and to policy makers to plan the future objectives, policies and guidelines.

A Study of Organizational Citizenship Behaviour of Teachers at Secondary School Level

The existing research study was aimed to study the organizational citizenship behaviour of teachers at Secondary level. The nature of this research study was descriptive and gathered the data by survey method. Hundred male and hundred female teachers teaching at Secondary level were chosen by stratified sampling technique from the Islamabad Model Secondary Schools. A standardized questionnaire based on Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale (OCBS) of 24 items developed by Podsakoff and Moorman (1995) was employed to gather data which have five subscales. Mean, Standard deviation, an independent sample t-test and ANOVA were applied for data analysis. The consciousness dimension has shown high mean score value as compare to the other dimensions of OCB. An independent t-test was employed to see the major difference regarding OCB of male and female teachers. Results indicated that there is a substantial difference in OCB between male and female teachers, moreover results also displays that male teachers have considerably higher level of OCB than female teachers. Teachers' organizational citizenship behavior: A causal relationship model

This research aimed to examine the direct, indirect and overall influences as well as validate the appropriateness of the causal relationship model of teachers' organizational citizenship behaviour under the Office of Khon Kaen Secondary Educational Service Area 25. A total of 300 teachers were selected as research samples utilizing multistage random sampling technique. A survey quantitative research design was employed using questionnaire as an instrument to collect data thus developed evident from theories. The instrument comprised of five sections including demographic factors, factors influencing organizational citizenship behaviour namely job satisfaction, organizational commitment and servant leadership and organizational citizenship behaviour. Data was analyzed by using the mPlus program. Results of the study indicated that causal relationship model of teachers' organizational citizenship behaviour is appropriately fit in accordance with the statistic values (χ 2 = 76.461, χ 2 /df = 1.274, CFI = 0.994 , TLI = 0.990, SRMR = 0.027 and RMSEA = 0.030). In addition, result of the study revealed that all the three independent variables have significant direct influence toward organizational citizenship behaviour. Organizational commitment (β = 0.748) and servant leadership (β = 0.195) have positive, significant and direct influence but job satisfaction (β =-0.303) has negative, significant and direct influence on organizational citizenship behaviour at 0.01 level. School administrators should emphasize on servant leadership, organization commitment and job satisfaction in order to have overall influence on organizational citizenship behaviour.

Organizational Citizenship Behavior among Teachers of Nepal: Did Locale Contribute it’s in School Settings?

The locale promotes the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among the school teachers. The OCB is the crucial factor to enhance the effective leadership in schools. Thus, locale are related with OCB among teachers. This study aims to assess the level of OCB and examine the influences of locale in OCB among school teachers. It incorporated a post-positivist paradigm with cross-sectional survey design. The information was obtained from a cluster consisting 345 respondents by using survey questionnaire.More specifically, the data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and ‘t’ test. In the meantime, social capital theory was used to discuss the findings. Moreover, the locale of school teachers contributes to determine the high level of OCB whereas theurban locale teachers exhibit more citizenship behavior in school. This high level of OCB furnished teachers contribute to exhibit high job performance, commitment, and effectiveness in their schools.

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) display levels of the teachers at secondary schools according to the perceptions of the school administrators

The main aim of this study is to determine in what level the teachers at secondary schools display organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) according to the perceptions of the school administrators. The data of this study, which is descriptive, were collected via the "the scale of OCB" which was developed by Podsakoff, MacKenzie, and Moorman (1991). 2 provinces selected from each of seven geographical regions of Turkey and 219 administrators-164 vice principals, 55 principals-selected randomly from four secondary schools of these provinces participated in the study. The results of this study reveal that the teachers at secondary schools highly displayed OCB. According to the school administrators; the teachers mostly display courtesy and then altruism, civil virtue, conscientiousness and sportsmanship behavior in the given order.

Teachers' Citizenship Behavior as a Predictor of Teaching Performance: Evidence from Pakistani Context

Purpose of the study: The current study investigated the correlation between teachers' organizational citizenship behavior and teaching performance at the primary level in the Lahore division of Punjab province, Pakistan. Teachers' organizational citizenship behaviour: Considering the roles of their work engagement, autonomy and leader–member exchange

This study examined how different stakeholders in school (principals, teachers, parents) conceptualize teachers' role breadth, i.e., whether they define given behaviors commonly assumed to be OCBs as in-role or extra-role behaviors. Drawing on a survey of 29 principals, 245 teachers and 345 parents, the results showed that principals and teachers defined more teachers' OCBs in general and toward the school as inrole behaviors than parents did; parents defined more teachers' OCBs toward the student as in-role behaviors than teachers did. A wide variety of possible school interventions is indicated, each with the potential for far broader improvements in school effectiveness.

Investigation of teachers' perceptions of organizational citizenship behavior and their evaluation in terms of educational administration

The aim of this study is to investigate teachers' perceptions of organizational citizenship behaviors and to evaluate them in terms of educational administration. Descriptive survey model was used in the research. The data of the research were obtained from 1,613 teachers working in public and private schools subjected to Ministry of National Education in Uskudar District of Istanbul province in 2014. In this study, data were obtained from the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher and from the "Organizational Citizenship Scale". According to research results; teachers had a high level of positive opinions with regard to organizational citizenship behaviors. The opinions of the respondents varied significantly according to gender, professional seniority, state of education and the working time at the school where they worked. High level of organizational citizenship behaviours in the school will affect education activities in positive way, contribute in generating a healthy school climate and influence students’ success in positive way too.

ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR TEACHERS IN INDONESIA

Purpose: In this study, we investigated the effects of organizational justice and trust directed at the organization as a whole on OCB. Also investigated were the influence between organizational justice and OCB, and the influence between trust and OCB. Design/Methodology/Approach: From a sample of 273 teachers from 305 Private Junior High Schools in Tangerang District, we tested the hypothesized model using structural equation models. Findings: The main findings are as follows: Findings show that organizational justice and trust have a positive effect on teacher's OCB and OCB is also positively related to trust. Originality/value: The results of the study show that teachers could be engaged in organizational citizenship behavior when they perceive fairness of the equality, needs, rights of opinion, transparency, neutrality and acknowledging the same position of the organizational process.
