Lithuanian language is quite complex and flexible, and its significantly complicates the development of efficient algorithms for the automatic processing of Lithuanian texts. For studying text-styles features were selected the universal quantitative characteristics that are unrelated to the text content and can be calculated for any text. This article shows how mathematical Statistics can help to distinguish and interpret the Lithuanian language styles. Studies of the log-linear models show theconnection between the letters and sounds structure and the scientific and fiction.

Lithuanian Old Personal Library Research: Status Quo
Bibliotheca Lituana, 2012
The article analyzes the state of research on the old historical Lithuanian personal libraries, including the means of inquiry and sources. The author also analyzes the similarities between personal library research and institutional library research. It was found that book ownership marks are the main and most widely applicable personal library research source. This resource is used productively after Lithuanian scientific libraries have accelerated the scientific cataloging of the old books and started recording the provenance of each item (such catalogs include catalogs of the Elsevier, the Aldine, paleotypes, Bibliotheca Sapiehana by Vilnius University Library, Lituanica catalog by the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and the catalog of the 15th and 16th century books in Kaunas libraries by Kaunas County Public Library). On the Time and Place of the Printing of Francysk Skaryna’s Little Traveler’s Book
Knygotyra
As we continue to solve the issues of book science of the 16th century, we have to be very guarded in questions of terminology. This is of particular importance when we talk about the Little Traveler’s Book, which begins the history of typography in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. There is a widespread belief that the abovementioned book was printed in Vilnius approximately in 1522. It would be more correct to say that the Little Traveler’s Book was completed in Vilnius. One of its parts – a set of eight Akathists and eight canons – could have been printed earlier in Prague. This hypothesis can be supported with several arguments. In contrast with the Acts and Epistles of the Apostles (the Apostle, 1525), the Little Traveler’s Book is not dated anywhere and in terms of content, it is a heterogeneous (composite) publication. Considering the content of the Little Traveler’s Book, the elements that particularly stand out are the Akathists and canons that contain unique wood engravings, e...

Mountains in the names of places and on the surface of Lithuania
Geografijos metraštis / The Geographical Yearbook
The article presents the links between the place names of residential areas and the surface relief of their territories. Names with the lexeme kalnas (hill-, mountain-) were chosen for the study. In total, in Lithuania are about 250 of them. 50 villages with such names marking the surface mountainousness were analyzed. Topographic maps were used to clarify the features of the terrain, the transverse profiles of the surface of the areas were drawn, and a very variable change in the accommodation of the areas in the 20th century was analyzed. In some cases, archaeological data are also used.
The Great War in Lithuanian Literature and Memoirs
Acta Historica Universitatis Klaipedensis, 2017
Works of fiction and memoirs relating to the First World War written in the Lithuanian language or by Lithuanian authors have so far not been a preoccupation of Lithuanian literary scholars. Due to the breadth of the topic, the analysis in this article is limited to the most important works of fiction and witnesses' memories of the Great War. The first fictional and documentary works analysed in the article were written during the war itself, the last at the beginning of the Second World War. There is quite a large and very varied (from the point of view of artistic quality) amount of this kind of literature. Using methods of narratology and comparison, the author sets out to analyse the main themes, plots and possible influences, while placing the writings in the history of Lithuanian literature.
