Decision support system design of higher education scholarship recipients with android-based

The purpose of this study is to present the design of Decision Support System (DSS) to analyse the college scholarship recipients on the android-based. The design methodology for selecting scholarship recipients is used Fuzzy Multiple Attribute Decision Making (Fuzzy MADM). Fuzzy MADM is an algorithm that used to find the optimal result of a number of alternatives with certain criteria. This method is chosen because the calculation of this method uses multiplication to correlate the attribute rating and only yields the largest value that will be selected as an alternative scholarship recipient. The object set in this research is UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung student. The design system is made based on android with hardware in the form of smart phone. Decision Support System to Majoring High School Student Using Simple Additive Weighting Method

Decision choice problems occur in every age levels, including teenage when students will go to higher school level education. Senior High School is the first level of education that student chooses and follows the majoring class of their interest. But students usually simply select the major not based on a careful consideration or reckoning. Therefore, Decision Support System that can help students in choosing majors is needed. The system will be developed as a web-based application program, using Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method better known as the weighted sum method. This SAW method is used to generate the recommendation majoring result that will be given to students in a recommendation list majors, which sorted based on highest to lowest percentage result. This result can be a referable for students in choosing the majors.

Application of Case Based Recommender System to Advise Students in Field of Study selection at Higher Education in Ethiopia

Using recommender systems with the help of computer systems technology to support the academic advising process offers many advantages over the traditional student advising system. One of the main problems faced by students is to take the right decision in relation to field of study selection process based on available information. The objective of this research is to develop a prototype case base recommender system that assists the students in their field of study selection process. The system provides recommendation to the students based on previously solved cases and new query given by the student. For this study, about 105 cases which are collected from successful students and 13 attributes which are collected from experts are used as case base. These attributes and cases are used as knowledge base to construct case base recommender. The system calculates similarity between existing case and new queries that are provided by the students and provides solution or recommendation by taking best cases to the new query. This recommendation enables students to make decision easily. In this study, JCOLIBRI case base development tool is used to develop the prototype of case based recommender system. JCOLIBRI contains both user interface which enables students to enter their query and programming codes with the help of Java script language. After developing the prototype of the system, testing of the prototype for case base recommender system was done to evaluate the performance of the system. Based on prototype testing, the average performance of the system is 77.2% and 80.2% by the domain experts and students respectively. Using field of study selection recommender system for students helps them to make decision easily to select appropriate field of study based on their interest and background information. The researcher recommends for the future work to improve the system that can recommend university as well as field of study selection by providing detail information about each selection.
