Predikante opleiding: Roeping, keuring en legitimering

Verbum et Ecclesia, 2002

Training of Pastors: Calling, Testing and Ordination The profession of being a pastor is under pressure. The challenge for churches and seminaries is to rediscover what it means to be called, and more specifically to be called for full time ministry in a local church. Such a calling needs to be secularised in order to be recovered. In this process the job of the called one needs to be determined, at least to a larger extent, by the congregation or parish. The point in question here is the fact that such functions as pastors are being given by God for equipping the body (Eph 4:7-16). When this is a reality, testing for such a call asks for a commitment to what the call, training for the profession and retaining status imply. Such testing leads to new freedom and the discovery of the complex nature of ministry on the one hand, and giftedness for specific ministries on the other. While further research is needed, the intermediate questions are whether there are seminaries that are ...

SA Journal of Industrial Psychology, 1997

The relationship between career indecisiveness, fear for commitment and vocational identity. Vonnisbespreking: Die strafregtelike vervolging, skuldigbevinding en kwytskelding van ’n verloskundige en ginekoloog Van der Walt v S [2020] ZACC 19

2022

The criminal prosecution, conviction and acquittal of an obstetrician and gynaecologist To date, few South African doctors have been found guilty of medical negligence in a criminal court (see e.g. R v Van Schoor 1948 4 SA 349; S v Mkwetshana 1965 2 SA 493 (N)). In the field of gynaecology and obstetrics, the unreported case of S v Nell 1987 TPD (see Strauss 1991:280-1) is relevant. In this case, a general practitioner was found guilty of culpable homicide on the ground of negligence during a birth process for attempting to remove the patient's placenta without the assistance of an obstetrician. The court a quo's sentence of five years imprisonment, of which three years were conditionally suspended, was changed by the full bench of the Transvaal Provincial Division (TPD; to which the accused appealed) to a fine of R5 000 or to two years' imprisonment.

’n Prakties-teologiese besinning oor die begeleiding en toerusting van kinders tot dienswerk as ’n weg tot die navolging van die gesindheid van Christus

HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies, 2014

A practical-theological reflection on coaching and equipping children for service as a way to emulating the attitude of Christ. The hypothesis for this research is that the youth is an inherent part of the church. The church, which includes the children, received spiritual gifts from God. The edification of the church is the main purpose in the utilisation of all the gifts. The church received a significant responsibility in equipping and convoying children to be obedient in their calling to be followers of Jesus Christ. Parents and children must use their gifts for their own diakonia. The word diakonia gives expression to the fact that diakonia must take place in accordance to the calling by God. In recent research the expression diakonia also received a more comprehensive meaning. The research field will be explored in four phases and, in doing so, try to come to grips with the current practical-theological situation. In phase one the authors tried to offer a descriptive reflectio...

N Empiriese Gevallestudie Van Bedritsgroottevoordele in Die Vaalhartsbesproeiingsgebied

Agrekon, 1991

The Act on Subdivision of Agricultural Land (Act 70 of 1970) pronibits the subdivision of agricultural land in South Africa's commercial areas into "uneconomic" units. In a new dispensation optimal, rather than minimum farm sizes should be pursued. The optimal farm size is theoretically not the same for any two farmers. The better manager will have the larger farm over the long run. The above principle was empirically tested in the Vaalharts Irrigation area by means of cross sectional regression equations with gross income as dependent variable. The result confirms the following: i) If management is ignored, constant returns to size is encountered; and ii) when managerial quality is however included in the model as independent variable, increasing returns to scale is found. This result thus supports the theory and a general conclusion is that optimal farm size is a function of management.
