The Formation of Tourist Friendly Destination Concept in Kuala Lumpur

This paper discusses the formation of tourist friendly destination concept in Kuala Lumpur. A total of 22 respondents has been interviewed, and the selection of respondents was based on four groups, decision-makers who involved in the planning and tourism development in Kuala Lumpur: the government sector, private sector, non-profit sector (associations) and professional consultants. From this process, the respondents have an opinion about the role of the respondents in their organizations concerning the formation the concept of tourist friendly destination in Kuala Lumpur, their understanding the concept of tourist friendly destination as well as the identification of the underlying component conceptualization tourist friendly destination.
Understanding the Factors Influencing Formation of Tourist Friendly Destination Concept
The tourist friendly destination is a concept, which satisfies the tourists through utilization and the relationship between elements of activity, space and product without any interruption and difficulties starting from the resident to the preferred of tourism destination. It has been seen as a customer-oriented concept where the tourists regarded as the customers at the tourist friendly destination. However, studies that of such initiatives are quite limited and sector based, thus leaving a gap of knowledge and misunderstanding what makes constitutes a tourist friendly destination. Therefore, this study is a concept paper with the aim of identifying the factors underlying and influencing the formation of tourist friendly destination at a macro level perspective. Through this study, it is found that five factors influencing the formation of tourist friendly destination. The implication of this study provides better insight into the factors, which influenced the formation of tourist friendly destination and its significance as a picture of those responsible for tourism destination development, as part to follow the demand and need of tourist as a customer, the basic practice in the tourist friendly destination concept.
Policy and Tourism Development Strategy towards Tourist Friendly Destination in Kuala Lumpur

A tourist friendly destination is a concept that gives satisfaction to tourists through contact and the maximum utilization dimensions of space, activities, and products; without any interruptions or problems. Accordingly, this study aims to describe the tourism policy and strategies in national and state contexts, to determine the inherent direction and prospects or potential in the tourism development of Kuala Lumpur as a tourist-friendly destination. The results show that some aspects need to be emphasized and have similarities in each of policies and strategies at the national and state level. This shows that policies made at national level could be followed at state level, so that each line of tourism development planning should be as planned. However, there is currently no planning policy at a national level, only at a state level. This shows that the policy at state level will continue with added value, made from reforms in accordance with the current situation and the existing physical characteristics, not run away with the principle of a planned policy at national level. Accordingly, in Kuala Lumpur, no problems or obstacles exist to planned, managed and developed, through the concept of being a Tourist Friendly City, where it is in line with the requirements of tourism development policies and strategies of national and state levels.

It is viewed as a customer-oriented concept where the tourist is the customer. However, studies that of such initiatives are quite limited and sector based, thus leaving a gap of knowledge and misunderstanding about a usage of tourist friendly destination. Accordingly, this study is a concept paper that aims to identify elements within the tourism system approach through the aspects of space, activities, and products which form the underlying formation of tourist friendly destination concept. The findings of this study have identified five elements from the aspect of space, four elements from the aspect of activities, and five elements from the aspect of products. Therefore, it is hoped that this study can help stakeholders to create tourist friendly destination concept using the elements in the tourism system approach, based on tourists' wants and needs.
The Roles of Tourism System towards Development of Tourist Friendly Destination Concept
Abstract Tourism destination has seen as a consolidation of products and experience which influencing tourists to travel. Even though there are many studies in various aspects of tourism destination, the shift of “mass tourism” to “alternative tourism”, the changes of tourist tastes as well as an increasing of travel capabilities, have called for a tourism destination to be more creative in offering niche tourism or more importantly, “Tourist Friendly Destination”. Since there are no specific theories, concepts, frameworks and indicators in tourist friendly destination usage, thus leaving a gap of knowledge and misunderstanding about the formation of tourist friendly destination. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop a tourist friendly destination concept by using a tourism system approached. The main objective of this study is to identify the roles of tourism system, which influence of the element of activity, product and space towards the development of tourist friendly destination concept. Through this study, it is an attempt to provide a relevant tourist friendly destination concept and to be as a benchmark for tourism destination, which using this concept. This paper seeks to contribute to the literature on tourists' perception by evaluating the relationship between destination travel attributes and tourist satisfaction. Using a sample of 140 international tourists exiting Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, the influence of travel attributes on satisfaction and the moderating effect of demographic factors in the relationship between travel attributes and tourist satisfaction were investigated. Partial Least Square (PLS), a variance based structural equation model was employed to analyse the data. The travel attributes had satisfactory predictive relevance and explained the changes in the variance of the endogenous variable tourist satisfaction. All the demographic factors considered moderated the relationship between at least one of the travel dimensions and tourist satisfaction. This study is limited with cross-sectional data.
Effects of Destination Attributes on Tourists’ Behavioral Intentions to Kuala Selangor

Study the tourists’ satisfaction on destination attributes is vital for successful destination marketing as it plays an important role in increasing the country economic growth. Besides, it is important to discover new attributes of destination image to strengthen the image construct, and it also played a significant role in tourist satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the influence of destination attributes and their behavioral intentions in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. A convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample. A total of 313 questionnaires were distributed to tourists at Kuala Selangor and were returned. The result from the finding suggests that tourists who have higher perceptions of the destination attributes of Kuala Selangor are more likely to have a positive experience and increasing behavioral intentions to revisit. Every city in the world has its problems from simple to complex so various ways must be taken to push each city forward and have various achievements. However, the problem that occurs in the management of urban tourism is people's behavior, the extremely difficult issue of managing residents' attitudes toward tourism development in urban tourism destinations and finding effective solutions in how to manage residents' attitudes systematically to minimize residents' irritation in urban destinations, which are considered complex systems. A tourism destination cannot be separated from the image of the destination itself because visitors will see whether the destination to be visited has a positive or negative image. In addition, visitors will also be encouraged to visit a destination if the destination can attract visitors to have a variety of interesting activities and attractions. This article aims to present the destination image of urban tourism through the characteristics of visitors at Batavia PIK in North Jakarta. The research method in writing this scientific article uses quantitative methods by presenting the results of descriptive statistical processing of the frequency of the respondents' demographic data and the results of the average value of the dimensions of the destination image. The result presents the characteristics of visitor in tourism spot at Golf Island PIK mostly female, young visitor, private employed, bachelor, with the income below 3 million, and interesting to visit because of the culinary and unique photo spots in Golf Island PIK. And mostly visitor to visit on the weekend, mostly first timer to visit Golf Island, the most visitor came from West Jakarta, travel with family and the favorite spot is Pantjoran PIK. And the most visitor using Instagram to find information about tourism spot at Golf Island PIK.
