LENGTH–WEIGHT AND LENGTH–LENGTH RELATIONS FOR 14 FISH SPECIES FROM THE CENTRAL MEXICAN PACIFIC COAST

2015. Length–weight and length–length relations for 14 fi sh species from the central Mexican Pacifi c coast. Acta Ichthyol. Piscat. 45 (2): 199–201. Abstract. Length–weight (LWR) and standard length–total length (L–L) relations are presented for 14 fi sh species caught in four estuaries from the southeastern coast of Michoacán, México (Central Pacifi c): Lile nigrofasciatalues of b ranged from 2.912 to 3.432. The results revealed that length–weight relations for all species were highly correlated; likewise, length–length relations for all fi shes also showed high correlation. This study presents for the fi rst time, length–weight parameters for two species and length–length relations for six species.

Length–weight relationships of 20 fish species from Bahía de Matanchen, in the southeast Gulf of California, Mexico

Length–weight relationship (LWR) parameters were determined for 20 fish species belonging to 14 genera and seven families. The fishes were collected monthly (May 2013 to February 2014) by soft-bottom trawls in Bahía de Matanchén, southeast of the Gulf of California. Sizes ranged between 5.5 and 36.0 cm total length (TL) and weighed between 1 and 901 g. The allometric coefficient (b) of the LWR varied from 2.638 for Chloroscombrus orqueta to 3.668 for Neopisthopterus tropicus. This is the first report of LWR estimations for 15 of the species.

Weight–length relationships for 38 fish species of Barra de Navidad coastal lagoon, Jalisco, Mexico

Weight–length relationships are reported for 38 species of teleost fish belonging to 20 families. Data were collected on a regular basis from February 2011 to January 2012 in the Barra de Navidad coastal lagoon, Jalisco, Mexico. Several different types of sampling gear were used to obtain a broad range of fish lengths. These are the first records in FishBase regarding weight–lengths for eight of the species.

Length-weight and length-length relationship for three marine fish species of commercial importance from southwestern Atlantic Ocean coast

Length-weight (LWR) and length-length (LLR) relationships were described for three marine fish species Odontesthes argentinensis (Valenciennes, 1835), Urophycis brasiliensis (Kaup, 1858) and Brevoortia aurea (Spix & Agassiz, 1829) from the southwestern Atlantic Ocean coast, among sampling sites between 36 and 38°S. These species have commercial importance in fisheries. Latitudinal change in LWR could suggest the existence of different subpopulations throughout their distribution ranges. A total of 2,167 specimens were collected between August 2015 and October 2018 using lift nets (mostly 10 mm mesh size) and fishing rods 100-200 m offshore. Both relationships were highly significant (P < 0.0001) for all species and produced robust coefficients of determination (R2 > 0.94). The latitudinal trend of a and b parameters of LWR showed different patterns for each species. This study provides a new maximum length for B. aurea and describes the variation of the regression parameters. ...
