Abstract
The strength and the latitudinal position of the Southern Hemisphere westerlies play a large role in controlling the amount and distribution of rainfall in southern South America. Understanding past changes in regional hydrology in southern Patagonia can therefore be used to provide insight into variations in atmospheric circulation in the high southern latitudes.
