Advancing on the social determinants of health and disease processes and their distribution in populations with ethnic features, we present results of a study analyzing the health situation of children belonging to ethnic Qom in Rosario (Santa Fe, Argentina ). We using a complex methodology that integrates information from primary and secondary sources. We present the reasons for consulting to a public primary health care center for children (0-10 years) living in the town of Rosario, Argentina. The results indicate that the diseases identified repeat the morbidity profile of children in poverty. Of most often are respiratory diseases, infectious and parasitic diseases, including diarrhea as the main reason for consultation and Chagas. Also recognized endocrine and nutritional diseases, mainly obesity and malnutrition. The identified diseases are preventable and avoidable. The determinants of these health problems are in migration, less access to essential public services such as water, the presence of diseased animals and diets inadequate in quantity and quality. Considering that the health problems identified are preventable, we consider and recommend organize, schedule and distribute health resources from a perspective that emphasizes the preventive and not only the curative, and that includes community participation to achieve these changes.
