GREEN COSMETICS IN INDONESIA: UNRAVELING ATTITUDE-BEHAVIOR GAP AND GENDER MODERATION
JURNAL APLIKASI MANAJEMEN, 2023
Green cosmetics are becoming increasingly popular as consumers' awareness of the environment grows. This study explores the relationship among Indonesian consumers' attitudes toward green cosmetics, environmental consciousness, behavioral control, subjective norms, product knowledge, purchase intention, and purchasing behavior. Data were collected from 310 respondents through an online questionnaire from various groups of men and women, then analyzed using Descriptive Statistical Analysis and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The research findings indicate that attitudes towards green cosmetics significantly influence purchase intention, and environmental consciousness also plays a crucial role in driving purchase intention. Perceptions of behavioral control and subjective norms also significantly affect purchase intention. Product knowledge has a significant impact on attitudes towards green cosmetics. Purchase intention significantly influences actual purchasing behavior. Exciting differences are observed between men and women. Environmental consciousness significantly impacts women's purchase intention, while behavioral control and subjective norms are more dominant in influencing men's purchase intention. The implications of this research are essential for producers and marketers of green cosmetics, offering insights for developing effective marketing strategies. This study highlights the importance of different approaches when targeting male and female consumers, considering the factors influencing their purchase intentions and behavior. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of consumer behavior related to green cosmetics, encouraging environmentally friendly consumption patterns.
The Impact of Environment Concern and Attitude on Green Purchasing Behavior: Gender as The Moderator
The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between environmental concern and attitude towards green purchasing behavior from a Lebanese consumer perspective. This study is based on socialization theory, which suggests that individual behavior is shaped by gender expectation in relation to the cultural context. An online questionnaire was used to collect data from Lebanese consumers with independent purchasing power. A total of 326 complete questionnaires were analyzed in this study. The moderating effect of gender was found to be significant and affect both environmental concern and attitude towards green purchasing behavior. The results of this study provide insights for both practitioners and scholars. The findings revealed that green marketers could benefit from increasing the level of environmental concern and attitude among both males and females. It is recommended that marketers, educators and policymakers understand the uniqueness of each market to promote green behavior. Future studies should examine the new social role of females and how it affects the green behavior.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of personality traits of consumers regarding their green buying intention by measuring the mediation effects of eco-labels and environmental attitude along with the moderation of gender. To the researchers' best knowledge, there is a lack of research in developing countries in explaining influence of rarely researched factor such as loyalty proneness on green buying intention. To uncover this gap, using survey method data from a sample of 434 has been collected through a structured questionnaire distributed among employees of the different national and multinational companies. Findings suggest that consumer personality traits except collectivism have a significant impact on Green buying intention. Furthermore, mediation of ecolabels and environmental attitude along with moderation of gender has a strong impact on consumer's green buying intention. These findings depicted that green market is evolving in developing countries, so it has created an open avenue for marketers to better grab the opportunities from green products and focus on establishing that new category of green products in Pakistan. Moreover, present study helps to eliminate the research gap by evaluating the interaction effect of gender with environmental attitude and eco-labels on green buying intention.

Understanding the Antecedents of Green Cosmetics Purchase Among Indonesian Consumers
Journal of Business and Management Review
Green cosmetics have an added value where they are not only made of natural ingredients, but also being produced with less pollution, free from animal cruelty and using less of non-renewable materials. Previous research shows that environmental concerns tend to have a significant effect on the purchase intention of the green cosmetics. Yet, consumers react differently toward the idea of green cosmetics itself, it becomes important to have solid understanding on the internal and external factors that lead to a purchase decision. This research aims to understand Indonesian consumers’ behavior toward green cosmetics by adapting the theory of reasoned action (TRA) framework. It focuses on how consumers’ attitude toward green cosmetics and subjective norms could affect the purchase intention, which would later affect the purchase decision. This research conducted using the survey method. The questionnaire consists of 5 Likert scales. The data analysis of this research was conducted by us...
The Effect of Gender Characteristics on Green Purchase Behavior in Iranian Teenage Consumers
2013
The current project attempts to investigate the sex characteristics in environmental attitude, environmental anxieties, the existing environmental problems, environmental responsibility, peers’ effect, and self-knowledge in protecting the environment and green purchase among Iranian teenage consumers. Female teenagers obtained a significantly higher point for environmental attitude, environmental anxiety, the existing environmental problems, environmental responsibility, and peers’ effect in protecting the environment and green purchase than male teenagers. However, the males’ average point was significantly higher than the females for self-knowing in protecting the environment. The major restriction is latent in the promulgated nature of the applied surveys. Future studies should include some good evaluations of green purchase and environmental behavior. They should be a useful source of international green evaluation in Iran. Iranian female teenagers are a good potential market for green products. Their marketing messages should use emotional applications; focus on personal responsibility to protect the environment, and facilitating network collaboration to develop proper discourse words.

Increasing environmental awareness among societies is motivating consumers to use green cosmetic products. Green skincare products are the fastest growing sector in the worldwide market compared with other green cosmetic products. However, compared with general cosmetic products, the market share of green cosmetic products in Indonesia is relatively low. The present research investigated consumers’ purchasing intentions toward green skincare products in Indonesia using the pro-environmental reasoned action (PERA) model. A total of 251 female consumers participated in this study. Structural equation modeling was conducted to reveal the relationships between the five factors in the PERA model. The results indicated that perceived authority support (PAS) has a positive effect on perceived environmental concern (PEC). PAS and PEC have positive effects on attitude (AT) and subjective norms (SN), and AT and SN have positive effects on behavioral intention (BI) to purchase green skincare p...

2017
Green purchase can have an impact on organization bottom line. It also helps to build a positive public image, brand, and goodwill in the marketplace. The purchasing intention for the green products varies across culture, gender and individual behavior of a person. This paper examines the impact of individual behavior on green purchase intention by applying constructs from Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A conceptual model is developed in this research by linking cultural values from Hofstede dimensions and value orientation model by Kluchhohn and Strodtbeck (1961) to determinants of green purchase intention. The paper also examines the role played by gender on purchase intention through culture and behavior. Collectivism and Long-term orientation (LTO) dimensions are included from Hofstede and Man-nature orientation is included from Kluchhohn and Strodtbeck (1961) model. The findings of the study suggest that collectivism is significantly related to all three predictors (attitude...
