The unprecedented global pandemic Covid-19 has changed our lives. The pandemic has also impacted the education sector. The significant change of educational methods from face-to-face learning to e-learning has undoubtedly resulted in a significant impact on the perceptions and effectiveness of e-learning among English language learners. This research is to ascertain the perceptions and effectiveness of learning English via e-learning through online surveys involving 337 students from a public university in Malaysia. The result on perceptions indicates that flexibility, freedom and interactivity are the reasons why students have positive inclinations towards e-learning, whilst less interaction with teachers, technical problems, and lack of conducive learning experience are the negative perceptions indicated by respondents. Indonesian Students’ Perception about the Effectiveness of E-Learning Implementation During COVID-19

Due to social distancing measures imposed by the COVID-19 epidemic, universities all over the world have predominantly moved to online teaching and e-learning. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the current e-learning course, the qualitative online-survey study was carried out to assemble data on students' perceptions. In this article we present the result of empirical research in Indonesia during pandemic. The research focused on the e-learning tools, encountered obstacles, physical problems, and preferable learning methods. The outcomes gained in the research can be provided to the constitutional agencies, educational institutions, and other participants to expand the progression of e-learning.

This study aimed to examine the Indonesian EFL learners' Retrospective Perception toward utilising online platforms in teaching English as a foreign language during a pandemic. The mixed quantitative and qualitative research design method is employed to achieve this goal. Seventy-five EFL learners from three different universities who took English for general communication courses were recruited in this study. The data were obtained by deploying two research instruments: questionnaires and a retrospective interview. Many participants preferred to select the most suitable and economical online platform to maximise their online learning experience. They also regard that learning effectiveness and efficiency can only be achieved by utilising blended synchronous and asynchronous modes. The findings also show that lecturers pose a fundamental role in helping students maximise their learning experiences. Thus, lecturer-student engagement during online learning is inevitably essential.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the Indonesian government through its Ministry of Education and Culture to implement policies moving conventional classroom to online classroom. The current study is a collective case study consisting of analysis of survey on students' perceptions of their online learning during the pandemic. Sixty-six students of English Language Education Study Program at Pamane Talino College of Education (STKIP Pamane Talino) were involved. Their perception s of their online classroom that were recorded through a survey. The recorded perceptions are in terms of students' participation, accessibility, material and assignment delivery, and the use of e-learning platforms. The results were then summarized into tables and narrative descriptions. The study identified three major obstacles in conducting online learning in English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino: the first is availability and sustainability of internet connection, the second is accessibility of the teaching media, and the last is the compatibility of tools to access the media. The result of the current study suggests that accessibility is still the major factor influencing the success of online learning. Online learning for English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino, and potentially Indonesia in general, requires some more friendly platforms so that students' participation can be increased. This is especially for students who reside in rural areas with limited internet connections and other support systems.

This study was aimed to know the students’ perception of online learning on Public Speaking class during Covid-19 pandemic. This study was the qualitative descriptive approach. Three instruments were used to collect the data, those are: observations, interview, and documentation. The subject of this study were the second semester students of the English Education Study Program in IAIN Palangka Raya. Purposive sampling was used to determine them based on some criteria needed. The result of this research viewed that students enjoyed online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic because they feel happy that they can still learn even through online learning. The Covid-19 pandemic currently occurring has changed conventional classrooms to online classrooms. This current study is a descriptive quantitative study consisting of an analysis of a survey on secondary school student's perceptions of their English online learning during the pandemic. One hundred seventy-three students of Tazkia IIBS Malang were involved in this study. The data were in the form of students’ perceptions of online learning in terms of accessibility, E-Learning Platform, material delivery, assignments delivery, and participation. The result was then summarized into tables, charts, and narrative descriptions. The study discovers two significant challenges faced by students in the English online class. They are teachers’ material/instructions delivery and the assignments’ time deadline. In terms of material and assignment delivery, the study suggests teachers employ interactive and engaging E-Learning platforms to participate more actively and enthusiastically, especially for secondary school students who haven’t been accustomed to virtual learning.
