Empirically based auditory display design (original) (raw)
This article synthesizes existing research in the domains of auditory display and sonic interaction design, introducing a framework for empirically-based design that supports novice designers. The framework emphasizes the importance of combining various methods to capture the richness of sound while remaining accessible and practical for designers outside traditional lab settings. By providing insights into cognitive attributes of sound and suitable methodologies, this work aims to assist designers in making informed decisions about sound selection for interfaces.
