The aim of the study was to investigate and compare the role of parental discipline and parental relationship in detained delinquents and non-delinquents. Current study assessed parental factor associated with delinquency. Total sample comprised of two hundred (N=200) delinquents and non- delinquents with the age range of 10-18 year (M=15.76, SD= 1.93). Sample of one hundred (n=100) male juvenile delinquents was selected from different jails of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. And One hundred (n=100) male non juvenile delinquents were selected from different schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through convenient sampling. It was hypothesized that that delinquent will score lower on parental relation and parental discipline. t- test, multiple regression and Logistic regression was used to explore the independent factor influencing delinquency. The paper researches the various reasons that lead to delinquency, especially in a developing economy facing a large extent of inequalities concerning the environment, expectations of the youth as well as parents, along with an underlying impact of school influence. Besides just grappling with the above issues, there could be certain medical reasons concerning the brain that could lead to an increase in this phenomenon. A holistic approach must be adopted by all stakeholders. Research question: This paper is an attempt to understand the reasons behind the increasing incidents of juvenile delinquency throughout the world. It is being felt increasingly in India as well. For the betterment of society, a serious attempt has to be undertaken to understand the reasons behind this abnormal behaviour and if it is possible for it to be addressed at an early stage so that the world can be a safer place for all.
A Study of Perception toward Parents in Juvenile Delinquents in Delhi

The present paper titled, “A study of perception toward parents in juvenile delinquents in Delhi” was conducted on 300 adolescent boys (n= 300) of different observation home in Delhi, India. The purpose of the present study was to search and evaluate the parents-child relationship from the adolescent’s perspective (age ranged from 7-18 yrs) who had engaged in criminal activities. This is an attempt to find out the correlation between different parenting practices and juvenile delinquency. For this purpose, sample was selected through quota sampling method and the present study also utilized a 3x2x2 factorial research design to measure the degree of correlation among the variables. Data was obtained by using ‘The Parental Involvement Scale (PIS-CA)’ developed by Dr. Vijaya Laxmi and Dr. Gunjan Arora. The results were found to be interesting and are expanded in the paper.
This study is conducted at Kiphire district of Nagaland State Under Department of Social and welfare, Nagaland. The sample involves 10 to 14 years of school going and school dropouts, with a sample size of N = 472 in total. This study examines factors responsible for delinquent behaviour of school going and school dropouts of two age categories 10 to 14 years based on parental position and economical conditions. The data was collected by using the structured questionnaire. The results indicated that, peers and siblings bullying, witnessing of assault and theft are most common victimization items reported by school dropout children. Children from deprived families reported a higher incident of witnessing assault with or without weapon. Children from lower socioeconomic status have lesser parental supervision and increased the risk of parental neglect. Children from low socioeconomic large families whose parents does not have sufficient or no formal education have a higher propensity to be bullied and assaulted by their peers and siblings. Therefore, a child from low socioeconomic family is a common component of social exclusion risks. The study revealed that domestic violence is pervasive among low income large families. Though children from all demographic categories witnessed domestic violence, children from economically distressed household and illiterate parents are more likely to experience domestic violence. Parents neglect due to alcohol abuse was reported more frequently by the children from low income families living in larger household.

FACTORS AND PATTERNS ASSOCIATED WITH JUVENILE DELINQUENCY WITH REFERENCE TO JUVENILE CRIMES IN INDIA

Objectives: This study aims to examine the patterns in juvenile delinquency based on factors including age, gender, offence type, and characteristics used in NCRB reports and to comprehend the various factors that contribute to juvenile crime. Methods: This study was done using the secondary data which was collected from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reports in the year of 2017 to 2021 by the Government of India. Result and discussion: The analysis of the aforementioned data reveals that there is a higher level of juvenile crimes in India especially in various states. It also shows that a significant proportion of juvenile individuals have unfortunately fallen victim to a multitude of socioeconomic pressures, including poverty, inadequate parental guidance, limited access to education, and the influence of peer groups. The crime rate in India has exhibited a notable upward trend over the years, accompanied by a concerning decline in the rate of convictions. Conclusion: The issue of juvenile delinquency necessitates focused consideration and an approach that prioritizes the well-being of children, with an emphasis on safeguarding and proactive measures to prevent their involvement in deviant behaviour. Research Implications: The findings can have implications for policymakers and educators in the realm of pedagogy development. Additionally, it bears relevance for family members and other stakeholders who play a crucial role in fostering the comprehensive growth and development of children.
Juvenile Delinquency in India: A study
Juvenile delinquency refers to the antisocial behaviour of children under the age of 18 years. The term juvenile delinquency refers to the socially disapproved behaviour because in this stage a lot of physiological and psychological changes happen in the body of the individuals living in the society. Due to these changes some of the children fail to balance their life and behaviour and there is a fair chance to engage in antisocial activities. Therefore the present attempt is an effort to study the incidence of crime committed by the juvenile delinquents, their family background and educational status in different states of India and particular in Haryana in the year of 2014 to 2016. The researchers have used the secondary data from the report of Crime Bureau of India, 2016. The result of the study indicates that the highest rate of crime was found in Delhi and lowest rate of crime was found in Meghalaya state. The Haryana state was on the ninth position in the crime committed by the juveniles. The result of the study further found that majority of the juveniles were educated and living with their parents and guardians. Only a few of them were homeless, which shows that our socialization pattern is not upto the mark. It is a matter of great debate and discussion which has forced the society members to think where we are lacking in given proper socialization to them. In nutshell, our educational institutions and family environment should be peaceful, happy, and prosperous to provide healthy socialization to the juveniles. Majority of the juvenile delinquents were literate and living with their parents. Only few respondents were living with their guardian and homeless.
Parent – Adolescent Communication and Delinquency: A Comparative Study in Kolkata, India
The present study assessed the impact of one of the dimension of parenting practices, parent-adolescent communication, on the development of delinquent behavior. The data was collected from 200 adolescents (100 delinquents and 100 non-delinquents) aged 11-18 years. Results suggested a significant difference between delinquent and non-delinquent adolescents-in terms of their perception of satisfactory parental communication. Further analyses revealed that both mother " s and father " s separate communication as well as their interaction effect was linked to the development of delinquent behavior. It was further noted that a satisfactory mother-adolescent communication was much more important compared to the father-adolescent communication in the present context. Furthermore, age of the adolescent was also related to delinquency and it was observed that early adolescence was a richer breeding ground of delinquency, although a satisfactory parental communication was crucial throughout the adolescent period to serve as a protective factor against delinquency. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Parents, peers, and teachers are often considered as pious relations of an adolescent. When delinquent acts are committed by the adolescents then their parents, peers, and teachers begin to blame others as a cause of this delinquent behavior. Without realizing that, they have a significant amount of bonding and association with those adolescents and such delinquency has been displayed because of their weak bonding and negative association with those adolescents. This research aims to analyze adolescents’ level of interaction and bonding with their parents, peers, and teachers to find out the causes of delinquency in Pakistan’s society. Data were collected from 250 male adolescents studying in two government high schools in tehsil Okara, through survey research technique, with the help of a structured interview schedule. A self-reported delinquency scale was used to measure delinquent behavior among adolescents. It founds that, in Pakistan out of 250 male adolescents 82(32.8%) are delinquents, which means out of every eight adolescents three are delinquents. The majority of adolescents were found: used bad language to their parents, gang affiliation, beaten up someone, gone to the bus without paying ticket, cheat in exams, do sexual activities. Whereas “lower economic status is not closely associated with delinquent behavior”. It is concluded that adolescent’s negative interaction and weak bonding with parents, teachers, peers, and access to the internet, and mobile phones are influencing delinquent behavior among the Pakistani youth. This delinquent behavior must be prevented through Parent-child strong relationship, digital parental lock system on adolescent’s devices, and teachers’ character building.
