The world has faced several pandemics in its existence, but the COVID-19 pandemic has opened up new aspects, making it a good introduction to what could be explored in the field of visual health communication in times of global crisis when it matters most for the message to reach as many people as possible in as short a period as possible, and for as many people as possible to understand it. The initial analysis conducted in ISPJR showed that the official source/medium of information related to the conditions and measures regarding the COVID-19 pandemic was the official Facebook page of Minister of Health of Republic of Macedonia, and the digital posters worked as a tool for persuading citizens to behave responsibly. The sample consisted of digital posters that were posted from March 2020, and by the end of the year, a total of 113. As this research showed, the digital poster campaign focused on promoting disease prevention among the general population, as much as 93% of digital poster messages refer to this goal – what citizens can do to protect themselves and others from the coronavirus. Answering the main research question of how the relevant official (domestic) institutions shape the message that aims to motivate the population to comply with their recommendations, it can be summarized that in Republic of Macedonia, through Facebook, on the official page of the then Minister of Health an incompletely properly prepared communication campaign and an incompletely defined communication strategy were conducted.
The Role of Visual Art in Facing the Corona Pandemic

Art is constantly inspired by what happens in its social and cultural context. The arts cannot be separated from life and the significant events in the world, whether it is a war, a natural disaster, or the spread of a disease an epidemic. Today, the whole world is witnessing the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, one of the worst in human history. The current scene has taken hold of artwork and the visual arts. The spread of the virus has inspired many artists to produce paintings, posters and artwork. This study aims to reveal the role and importance of Arab artists regarding the message they present regarding the situation at hand. In this study, the qualitative data was amassed as part of the methodology. The qualitative descriptive method and the case study approach are the primary approaches for the data collection. The results section focuses on the answers obtained from Arab artists through their artwork. It is held via a virtual exhibition. The discussion section focuses on a detailed analysis of the paintings. The study results concluded that art is a kind of documentation of all of the events that happen to humans. Art is a record of historical events, so it is a bright spot in times of crisis and darkness. Through these paintings, Arab artists have provided a light to those who feel gloomy in these difficult times, indicating that those in the Arab world focus on the unity of place, language and religion. Therefore, this artistic movement moves between all its countries so that no matter how harsh the situation, people will remain unified.
Visual Culture Analysis in Campaign of Covid-19

In the contemporary context, the significance of utilizing online media as an information portal cannot be overstated. This importance is particularly pronounced during the Covid-19 pandemic, as people actively seek information through online platforms to meet their informational requirements. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the visual elements employed in Covid-19 campaigns, with each element carrying meaningful representations. To accomplish this, the researcher employs visual culture studies to analyze Covid-19 campaigns from a neurophysiological perspective. The methodology involves employing a semantic differential scale and principal components analysis (PCA) with the participation of 22 respondents, who assess 12 binary paired adjective concepts. The analysis centers on four images sourced from the online media platform www.covid19.go.id. The findings indicate that people perceive visual objects influenced by technology in a manner that involves recognition. Each visual element serves as a representation of knowledge and is linked to specific ideas. From a modern neurophysiological standpoint, technologymediated visual elements lead to logical and constructive outcomes while exhibiting unique affordabilities. These research findings impart valuable insights to the Government of Indonesia, underscoring the importance of considering physiological, affective, and aesthetic aspects of visual elements in formulating their pandemic campaign policies.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been expressed in various ways through visuality and performance, and some of its more nuanced cultural implications have taken place in a realm that goes beyond words. Through the exploration of the visual culture produced during and in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Pandemic Visual Regime: Visuality and Performativity in the Covid-19 Crisis highlights the key role played by images in shaping our understanding of the epochal transformations our society is undergoing. This book argues that visuality and its relationships with the performative have played such a significant role in the Covid-19 pandemic that we can even speak of the emergence of a “pandemic visual regime,” a new way of seeing and representing the world under this global emergency. Through an interdisciplinary framework, The Pandemic Visual Regime aims to answer an array of questions: In which ways have the effects of the pandemic been racialized, thereby reinforcing white supremacy? How are our responses to Covid-19 shaped by the Hollywood “outbreak narrative” of films such as Contagion? How has design responded to our new pandemic needs? How have infographics affected our perception? In which new ways have we come to inhabit private, public, and virtual spaces? Regarding the latter, what changes have there been in the forms of digital surveillance? On the other side of the spectrum, what forms has mutual aid taken and what have been our forms of relating with nature, both during lockdown and after lockdown was over? A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of Visual Illustrations Related to COVID-19 Awareness in Nigeria

The current paper aims to discuss the impact of visual illustrations related to the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. To embark, this study utilizes visual resources, precisely images to facilitate a massive audience by incorporating various modes of visual communication, such as graphics, typography, and attractive layouts to engage the public. This study deploys a multimodal discourse analysis of selected COVID-19 pandemic visual illustrations. The current study examines ten (10) COVID-19 visual illustrations. These /visual illustrations were collected from the official website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). This research identified that in creating awareness concerning the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and its mitigation, there is a dire need to enhance modes of communication using multiple modes of awareness, such as images such as graphics, typography, and other semiotic resources. To elaborate further a large range of visual resources were utilized to analyse the linguistic efficiency of selected visual resources to communicate with the larger audience with concise language and expression. When multiple modes are used effectively in the images, they become audience-affective, such that the attention of the reader or target audience is drawn to the content of the image. Moreover, this study recommended that to achieve the maximum effect of awareness concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple modes model should be used by communicators to facilitate the larger audience Furthermore, it should be used in such a way that they are harmonised and interrelate, contributing to the realisation of meaning throughout the text.
Using Info-Graphics in Raising Consciousness to Confront the Newly Discovered Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The main purpose of this chapter is to study using info-graphics in raising consciousness to confront newly discovered corona virus (COVID-19). This will be achieved by using combination of qualitative and quantitative methods; Thus a guide of semiological analysis and a questionnaire were structured and validated by four experts in public relations and advertising specialty; to analyze info-graphics, and collect data from the field; to find the relation between info-graphics design and the level of Egyptian citizens’ consciences of the pandemic. The main definitions which are Info-graphics, Consciousness and COVID-19 were identified. The research findings were illustrated by issues of hierarchy of effects theory. The main findings demonstrate that well designed info-graphics led to raise consciousness, and that’s what the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population succeed in.

A decisive effect of the worldwide spread of the coronavirus is the transformation of digital lifestyle media into state-used recording, storage and distribution media. With the pandemic spread of the virus, the tectonics of digital power may have shifted the way forward. The global threat posed by the corona virus is transforming mobile media and their software applications into state-organized surveillance technologies. Because the Big Five of the digital economy, the Internet companies Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon have faced competition in the area of data collection and analysis. On the occasion of Covid-19, national health authorities, secret services and police apparatus, together with IT companies, initiated a systematic collection and evaluation of usage data. Mobility tracking is regarded by health authorities and government officials as a reliable data basis for enforcing political decisions as legitimate. Seen in this way, digital media take over the empirical basis of political action. The disciplinary techniques of state surveillance and punishment are migrating into all areas of digital communication and affect mobile media (geo-tracking), stop corona apps (monitoring), social media (blaming) and selfies (self-evidence). In a global comparison, I will compare different national strategies and also include non-western countries. In this context, I am investigating the biosurveillance in China, Singapore and Hong Kong (SenseTime, TikTok etc.), the secret service control in Israel and the use of robotics in Tunisia. What are the consequences of these shifts in the procurement of information in the era of the corona control system? In my contribution, I deal with image-political and mediatechnological aspects of the data visualizations of mobility, which were used by Internet companies, national governments and health authorities for different purposes in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Visuality, Language and Communication in COVID-19 Nigerian Social Media Images

Covid-19 is one of the most disturbing infections that has rattled the world in recent history. This flu affected nearly all the countries of the world with different degrees of medical, scientific, social and scholarly attentions. The humanities are not left out from the perspective of language and communication during the pandemic. In the light of the above, this paper undertakes a multimodal semiotic analysis of Covid-19 memes in the Nigerian context with a view to showing how the visual and language complement each other in communicating aspects of Nigerian socio-political realities during the pandemic. Among the images circulated through the Whatsapp medium, ten were selected for this study and Kress and van Leeuween’s (2006) multimodal theory was adopted as our theoretical framework.
