Embedding of global attractors and their dynamics
Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2011
Using shape theory and the concept of cellularity, we show that if A is the global attractor associated with a dissipative partial differential equation in a real Hilbert space H and the set A − A has finite Assouad dimension d, then there is an ordinary differential equation in R m+1 , with m > d, that has unique solutions and reproduces the dynamics on A. Moreover, the dynamical system generated by this new ordinary differential equation has a global attractor X arbitrarily close to LA, where L is a homeomorphism from A into R m+1 .

This paper is devoted to the asymptotic behavior for some evolution equations when the underlying Euclidean domain is unbounded. We present a method that is able to overcome the lack of compactness of the trajectories in such situations, and that allows us to obtain some results on the global attractor similar to those on bounded domains. This method is based on the utilization of an appropriate weight integration function that depends on .Y and t and becomes elTective (in x) for large t's c 1990 Academic Press. Inc.
Uniform global attractors for non-autonomous dissipative dynamical systems
Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - Series B, 2017
In this paper we consider sufficient conditions for the existence of uniform compact global attractor for non-autonomous dynamical systems in special classes of infinite-dimensional phase spaces. The obtained generalizations allow us to avoid the restrictive compactness assumptions on the space of shifts of non-autonomous terms in particular evolution problems. The results are applied to several evolution inclusions.
Fe b 20 18 Dissipative flows , global attractors and shape theory ∗
2018
In this paper we study continuous parametrized families of dissipative flows, which are those flows having a global attractor. The main motivation for this study comes from the observation that, in general, global attractors are not robust, in the sense that small perturbations of the flow can destroy their globality. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a global attractor to be continued to a global attractor. We also study, using shape theoretical methods and the Conley index, the bifurcation global to non-global. 2010 MSC: 34D23, 54H20, 55P55, 34D10, 37C70, 37B30.

Analyticity of the attractors of dissipative‐dispersive systems in higher dimensions
Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2018
We investigate the analyticity of the attractors of a class of Kuramoto-Sivashinsky type pseudo-differential equations in higher dimensions, which are periodic in all spatial variables and possess a universal attractor. This is done by fine-tuning the techniques used in [2, 7], which are based on an analytic extensibility criterion involving the growth of ∇ n u, as n tends to infinity (here u is the solution). These techniques can now be utilised in a variety of higher dimensional equations possessing universal attractors, including Topper-Kawahara equation, Frenkel-Indireshkumar equations and their dispersively modified analogs. We prove that the solutions are analytic whenever γ, the order of dissipation of the pseudo-differential operator, is higher than one. We believe that this estimate is optimal, based on numerical evidence.
The existence of global attractors for a class of nonlinear dissipative evolution equations
Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh: Section A Mathematics, 2005
In this work we consider the Cauchy problem associated with dissipative perturbations of infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. we describe abstract conditions under which the problem is locally and globally well posed. Moreover, we establish the existence of global attractor. Finally, we present several applications of the theory.
Global Attractors of Non-Autonomous Quasi-Homogeneous Dynamical Systems
2002
It is shown that non-autonomous quasi-homogeneous dynamical systems admit a compact global attractor. The general results obtained here are applied to differential equations both in finite dimensional spaces and in infinite dimensional spaces, such as ordinary differential equations in Banach space and some types of evolutional partial differential equations. Krasovskii [19, 20], Zubov [26] and Coleman [11] showed that for homogeneous autonomous systems in a finite dimensional space the existence of power-low asymptotics is equivalent to asymptotic stability. Filippov [13, 14] generalized this result for homogeneous differential inclusions. Ladis [22] showed that in the general case this result does not apply to periodic systems. For non-autonomous homogeneous systems (of order k = 1) uniform asymptotic stability is equivalent to exponential stability (see, for example [15]). Morozov [24] obtained a similar result for periodic differential inclusions. In [3] the author established t...
Global attractors for degenerate partial differential equations from nonlinear viscoelasticity
Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2001
We study several problems for the forced motion of light, uniform, nonlinearly viscoelastic bodies carrying heavy attachments. A 'reduced' problem for such motions is obtained by setting the ratio of the inertia of the viscoelastic body to the inertia of the attachment equal to zero. Using methods from infinite-dimensional dynamical-systems theory, we prove that the degenerate partial differential equation of this reduced problem has an attractor and that this attractor is contained in an invariant two-dimensional manifold on which solutions are governed by the classical ordinary differential equation for the forced motion of a particle on a massless spring.
