Documentation of the World Heritage by Using the Digital projector approach (original) (raw)

There is a lot of researches which tried to find the way to document the world heritage. Some of these researches have a good results, but until now none could document the world heritage with the complete fine details and with accurate measurements. In Innsbruck University, Austria, a new approach "The Digital Projector(DigPro)" has been proofed to do this mission. The idea of this approach is a reverse of the photographing. By using a digital projector, the original image of the object can be projected on the 3D-model of the object with the same camera's inner orientation and from the same camera's external orientation. The 3D-Model can be constructed by any of photogrammetric methods or by any other methods. This approach is not restricted by any kind of surfaces. The object surface can be regular or irregular with easy or difficult features. It is a general approach not just for the architectural and archaeological applications, but also for the other applications in any field. The approach has a lot of results, one of the most important is a digital orthoimage without any rectification of the original image. Perspective views from any point of view is one of the approach's results. An animation, walk around, fly over and going through the object is also one of the results. This approach is promising and has a lot of advantage over the other method.
