Abstract

Background / Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of 4 months rifampicin (4R) therapy for LTBI.4R therapy was offered to recent tuberculin skin test (TST) converts. Main conclusion: Annual TST conversion rate was about 4% in young nursing students in South India. Among the 70% of cases of TST converts, QFT was also positive. 4 months of rifampicin therapy is safe and effective treatment of LTBI. This is first study of 4R therapy from the Indian subcontinent.
