Abstract

ABSTRACT The phase transition from the p(2×1) to the (1×1) structure in the O-W(001) system and its critical behavior is studied. Above the critical temperature of the p(2×1) structure ordering into a (1×1) structure is observed. A model for the anomalous ordering and critical behavior is proposed.
