When one considers the exhaustion of fossil energy reserves, limited soil capacities, the degradation of ecosystems, climate change and global warming, unbalanced diets, and population increase, the current food system cannot be regarded as sustainable. Action to implement a strategy that promotes the concept of sustainable diets is thus a matter of urgency.
