Analysis of Business Feasibility of Cassava Chips and Cassava Tape, Financing and Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurial Cassava Farmers in Jember Regency

Many things can affect business conditions of farmers and entrepreneurs in the field of agribusiness such as started sluggish market, tighter competition, declining productivity, rising production costs and others. Jember is known as one of the producers and the biggest marketing area of cassava products. Various types of processed cassava can be found in Jember such as cassava tape, cassava chips, pröll tape, suwar-suwir, tape brownies and others. The purpose of the evaluation of the feasibility effort is an attempt to determine the extent of the successful implementation of the project, whether the project is running according to plan and will provide the expected results. Goals of this study are: how to know and analyze feasibility of business of cassava chips and cassava tape; financing marketing strategy of the business of cassava chips and cassava tape for entrepreneurial cassava farmers. Type of the study is qualitative research with using survey and exploratory approach. The study used primary and secondary data with purposive sampling technique. The research found that business of cassava chips and cassava tape meet feasibility covering technical, marketing aspects and financial aspects. This study is limited to the business feasibility of the production of cassava chips and cassava tape.

Consumer’s market analysis of products based on cassava

Cassava product has the important role for enhancing household's income in rural. Cassava as raw material food is plentiful as local food in Lampung. Cassava product is one of strategic value addition activities. Value additional activities are a key to create income source enrichment in rural. The householdwas product cassava as a snack or additional food. Their product cassava was operated in small-scale, traditional, and discontinuous production. They have been lacked in technology, capital, and market access. Measurement the sustainability of their business is important. The market has driven the business globally. This research aims to (1) describe the cassava demand to locally product cassava in rural and (2) analysis the consumer's perception of cassava product. Research take placed in Lampung Province, involved Bandar Lampung and Metro City, Pringsewu, Pesawaran, Central Lampung, and East Lampung district. It is held in February until April 2017. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and multidimensional scaling. Based on the analysis conclude that (1) the demand of product cassava from rural was massive in volume and regularity with the enormous transaction. This fact is very important to role business cycles. Consumers demand continuously will lead the production of cassava productsustain. Producers of product cassava will consume fresh cassava for the farmer. Consumption of fresh cassava for home industry regularly in rural will develop balancing in fresh cassava price in the farming gate (2) The consumer's perception on cassava product in the different market showed that they prefer much to consume cassava chips as cassava product products than other. Next are crackers, opak, and tiwul rice. Urban consumers prefer product products as snacks (chips, crumbs, and opak), with consumption frequency of 2-5 times per week and volume of 1-3 kg purchases. Consumers in rural were more frequent with daily consumption frequency. Multidimensional scaling analysis performed that price of cassava product was the centre of product attribute.

Development Strategy for Superior Cassava Products for MSMEs in Deli Serdang Regency

Cassava is one of the superior commodities of MSMEs in Deli Serdang. The existence of government regulation of Deli Serdang which stipulates cassava as the superior product of Deli Serdang has not maximally helped MSMEs in developing superior products of cassava as a quality processed product and failed in increasing MSMEs income. It is necessary to know how the strategy for developing superior products of MSMEs in Deli Serdang. The purpose of this research is to find aspects of internal and external environmental consist of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the development of superior products of Deli Serdang MSMEs, which can used to improve quality and competitiveness. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative with the SWOT analysis. The results show that the superior cassava product development program has 8 strength factors, 10 weakness factors, only 5 opportunity factors and 5 threat factors which indicate that the development of superior cassava products has not succeeded. The findings require a strategy to increase the strength factor, overcome shortages, face threats and increase opportunities by formulating 10 strategies for developing program of superior cassava products and increasing income.

Identification of Channels and Behavior of Cassava Marketing Institution in Merauke District

The purpose of this study is 1) to identify cassava marketing channels in Merauke Regency, 2) to identify the behavior of cassava marketing institutions in Merauke Regency. The method used in this study is descriptive with the type of research that is survey research. Data analysis method is tabulation analysis which is described according to the research objectives. This research was conducted in Merauke Regency in 2017 by taking 5 samples of observation districts, namely Sota District, Ulilin, Elikobel, Muting and Jagebob. The results of the study concluded that there were 3 cassava marketing channels in Merauke, namely 1) producers / farmers end consumers; 2) producers / farmers intermediate traders consumers; 3) producers / farmers intermediate traders retailers consumers. Processing and Marketing of Selected Cassava Products in South-east Nigeria

The study investigates the processing and marketing of cassava products in the Southeast, Nigeria. Multistage random sampling was used to select 120 respondents, using structured questionnaire to collect primary data on the quantity and the cost of cassava used for processing each product, the method of processing and cost of processing. The return per naira on investment of the cassava products was evaluated, and the result showed that cassava processing is a profitable venture. Processing cassava tubers into flour was more profitable with a return of 9 kobo per N1 invested in the business as against 7.8 kobo and 7.1kobo for garri and chips respectively. A Study on Cassava Marketing in Chang Krang Commune, Chhet Burei District, Kratie Province

Cassava, an agro-industry crop, has been cultivated for years by farmers; however, it was not popular in the past. Recently, the market demand for cassava root has radically increased; hence, the number of farmers and cultivated areas has boosted considerably. This study on Cassava Marketing was conducted to measure: 1) cassava household production, 2) cassava marketing, and 3) the important of cassava production in farmer household. 81 producers, 5 traders and 4 key informants in Chang Krang commune, ChhetBurei district, Kratie province were selected. The study was carried out in Kogi East senatorial District of the state. A multi-stage sampling technique was employed in the selection of 120 respondents from whom information were collected and analyzed. The data used for the study were collected using structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and profit function analysis. The study showed that there are three processing methods and three marketing channels for each of the cassava products selected. Supply Analysis of Cassava Chips in Oyo State, Nigeria

Cassava is a very important crop in Nigeria based on its extensive use especially as a staple food and because of the export demand of some of its products such as chips and pellets, enabling it to be an agricultural foreign exchange earner and contributor to the nation's gross domestic product. This study analyzed the supply response of cassava chips in Oyo State of Nigeria. Random sampling technique was used to select one hundred and twenty (120) cassava chips suppliers in the study area. A well designed interview schedule was used to collect the necessary data from respondents. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed in data analysis. The result revealed that cassava chips business is a profitable one with a benefit-cost ratio of 2.85 and a net return of #503,700.01 per hectare of cassava tubers processed into chips and marketed. The regression analysis revealed that factors affecting the quantity of cassava chips supplied by respondents include quantity of cassava harvested per hectare, market price per kilogram of cassava chips, revenue obtained from cassava chips, cost of processing cassava tubers to chips and per hectare cost of cassava tubers production. The study recommended that the government should intensify effort in training cassava farmers on how to improve on quality of cassava chips produced so as to attract better price at the international market.
