The railway crossing systems are operated manually by a gatekeeper. Over 50% of railway accidents occur due to operational errors in railway level crossings. But there is no perfect solution to this problem. In this project we proposed an automatic railway crossing system using internet of things technology. In this we will use ultrasonic sensors to track the train and these sensors are placed at a threshold distance which is calculated on the basis of train type and speed of the train. The arrival and departure of trains are detected by the ultrasonic sensors, when the sensors detects the train then the green traffic signal light turns to red and the level crossing gates are closed and the warning signal (buzzers) will be played until the train crosses the railway crossing and each time the train is detected by the ultrasonic sensor the status of train is updated in the cloud. The system is implemented by using Arduino microcontroller, servo motors and ultrasonic sensor and NodeMcu ESP8266. By implementing this system we will reduce the accidents held at level crossings at maximum extent Thus, the man power could be reduced.

Generally railway gates are manually handled by gate keeper. The gate keeper will get the information about whether the train is coming or not, from the nearer station. Once the train leaves the station, the station incharger will gives the information about the arrival of train to the nearest gate keeper and alert him to get ready to close the gate. This human intervention can be avoided by using this system. If the arrival of the train is late due to some reason, this information will not send to the gate keeper instantly.hence the gate will remain closed until the train arrives this delay will causesthetraffic problem near the gates and makes the people get into the trouble. This will be prevented by using this system. In this system infrared sensors are used to detect the arriving and leaving of train near the railway level crossing and ArduinoUNO is used to control the operation of opening/closing of gates by using mini servomotor which is placed near the gate. Another objective of this system is to eliminate the delay in order to detect the fire attack inside the compartment by using Node MCU and GPS technology.

The automation of Railway gates at intersections crossing is very important to avoid accidents near it. At present, railway crossing gates are operated manually by gate operator. When a train leaves the station, the in-charge person of the station sends the signal/information to the gate operator about the departure and arrival of the train. The involvement of human is avoided by automating the process. If train's arrival is delayed by any reasons, the care is taken that gates are not opened for long period of time due to this it leads to the traffic jam and also wastage of time. The system uses two Infrared (IR) sensors in order to sense the arrival and going movement of the railway engine. Train's advent when detected, signal in the form of sound and warning light signal indication is given to the commuters to warn about advent of train towards me. Sensor I sense the advent of the train the warning is given in the form of red color light and the driving agent attached to the gate will start to shut the opened gate. In order to control the gate motor has been used. The gates are made to shut unless and until the train passes completely moves away from railway gate. The motor helps in lifting and shutting the gate based on coming going of the train which is done with the help of sensors. Sensors will play a vital role in automating the things along with the help of motor and arduino as a controller, raspberry.
Automatic opening and closing of railway gates and signaling in railways using IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a group of devices which are connected together in the network. It is used in sound vibrator and ZigBee transceiver which will receive frequency of the vibration and the time from which the train reaches the sensor from the server. In this, we are using a sound vibrator which will detect vibrations from the track and the signal is transferred to the gear motor and the gate will get closed automatically. When the train passes the gate another sound vibration sensor is fixed at another end and it will transfer the signal to the gate and gate will open automatically. Here the additional features added are we can calculate the current speed of the train and we can also track the track damage. The main objective of this work is to provide automatic closing and the opening of gates and railway system. We can avoid careless mistakes done by the gatekeeper and we can reduce manpower in the railway system.

These devices are uniquely addressable and use standard communication protocols like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) in a networking environment. Here devices are communicating with each other without human interaction. The objective of this work is to provide an Automatic Railway Gate Controller, which operates the railway gates without gatekeeper which makes it useful for operation at level crossings. This controller deals with the reduction of time of which the gate is being kept closed and provide the safety to the road users by reducing the accidents that usually occur due to carelessness of road users and the gatekeepers. In addition to this, one more additional module is implemented for the passenger’s convenience. Here, passenger needs to register their phone number via website to get destination arrival notification. This system is cost effective, real time and automatic.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of networked devices that may contain sensors and RFID technologies. These biases are not transportable, and they operate in network contexts using the most advanced communication protocols., such as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Stoner Datagram Protocol (UDP), and Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP). The technology then speaks without the need for human involvement. The purpose of this figure is to give an automatic road crossing regulator that operates road crossings without a gate attendant. This is useful for road crossing operations. This regulator provides road druggies with useful coffers to save time when the gate is stored unrestricted and to reduce accidents typically caused by neglectfulness of road druggies and gate attendants. In addition, fresh modules are more enforced for passenger comfort. Then, passengers need to test the quantum on their Telecel mobile phone on their website in order to make an announcement of their appearance at the resort. This tool is cheap, real-time and automatic.
AUTOMATED RAILWAY MONITORING SYSTEM

Telecommunication and computing technologies are crucial in solving real-world problems, particularly in developing countries where issues with railway-level crossings remain prevalent. The consequences of level-crossing accidents can be severe, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and vehicle damage, which can have a significant impact on a country's economy. To address this issue, an IoT-based framework for an automatic railway gate controller has been designed. The primary objective of this framework is to automate the opening and closing of railway gates upon the arrival and departure of trains, respectively, the primary objective of the proposed model is to minimize the occurrence of accidents, especially at unmonitored railway crossings. This system also reduces the time for which the gate remains closed, providing a more efficient and reliable operation. The proposed gate controller is suitable for unmanned level crossings, where accidents are more likely to occur, and manual operation errors can be prevented through the automatic operation of the system. The system operates using an Arduino-based system, which receives input signals from two sensors and sends information to the gate motor driver to open and close the gate. The arrival and departure of trains are monitored, and the gate is operated accordingly. Overall, the implementation of an automatic railway gate controller utilizing IoT technologies has the potential to significantly reduce the number of accidents at level crossings, promoting safer and more efficient transportation.
Automatic Railway Barrier System, Railway Tracking and Collision Avoidance using IOT

IOT can be used to improve various aspects of the railway system. Automation of railways can transform the current legacy systems and help decrease the railway related accidents significantly. This research paper proposes a system where sets of infrared sensors are used to track the position of the train and its direction. This information is used to close/open the railway barrier automatically via a motor connected to a microcontroller unit. It is also used to warn the driver about a possible collision with a train coming from the opposite direction via an SMS sent from the GSM module attached to the microcontroller. The position of the train is sent to a webpage via the GSM module for tracking.
Railway Crossing Automation using Infrared Sensor

As we came across many newspapers, many accidents that are made in unmanned level crossings. The trains running on same track are also the cause of major accidents at railways crossing. In both of the cases, human loss and damage to the train are the results [1]. In this paper, we proposed an automatic railway gate operation to avoid such accidents at unmanned gate and automatic closure of unmanned gate without gate keeper. This is also developed to avoid the collision of trains running on same track. Automatic closure of unmanned gate reduces the time for which the gatekeeper closing and provides safety to the road users by reducing the accidents. In India, totally 28,607 level crossings are placed, in that 19,267 are manned & 9340 are unmanned crossings. The collision of trains running on same track is also prevented by employing infrared (IR) Transmitter. The IR system at each station receives the information and passes to a master control room [2]. IR wireless technology devices convey information of data through infrared radiation.

The automation of railway crossing gates are used to avoid the accident near to it. At present, railway crossing gates are operated only in manually. Involvement of humans and manpower will be reduced. Traffic jam will be totally avoided by this method, the arrival and departure will be calculated by the device. Then any disturbance through the railway track will be intimate. The gates are lifting and shutting by the motor by the intimation of sensors. The detection is occur, the total process is done by under the control of arduino.
