Adverb in the contemporary romanian language. Current aspects and tendencies - Limba şi literatura – repere identitare în context european, European Landmarks of Identity, nr. 12/2013 (original) (raw)
The current work paper is an overview of the status of adverbs within the morphology of contemporary Romanian language. The adverb is featured by well defined lexical meaning, fact that stresses its importance and distinction in the whole of inflexible parts of speech. Starting from this status, the adverb is defined by many morphological, lexical-grammatical features, by orthographic aspects (with a semantic and grammar approach, un-analyzable structures, exceptions) and specific stylistic and by the category of comparison analytically or periphrastically (distinct analogies and aspects reported to adjective -flexible part of speech). The work paper also insists on the current tendencies of wrong use of certain adverbs, solved by correct situation contexts. Finally, there are shown several stylistic values issued by some Romanian adverbs.

On Adverb Formation in Romanian
2017
The current paper discusses adverb formation in Romanian starting from the treatment of Spanish -mente adverbs in a recent paper by Torner (2005) who introduces the notion of phrasal affix in his treatment of Spanish -mente adverbs. The analysis of the morphology of Romanian adverbs starts from the three suffixes by means of which the language derives its adverbs (-(a)mente, -(ic)eşte, -iş (-îş)) as well as a bounty of adverbs that have been argued (Forăscu 2002) to be adjectival or participial forms. My proposal is that Romanian (manner) adverbs are derived by means of inflectional affixation, with the above mentioned suffixes, or a silent suffix –Ø – the case of those adverbs that have an identical form to that of the masculine singular adjectives, a suffix that encodes the property (in X manner).

Academiei Române, 1990Române, -, 2010 ADDITIVE AND ASPECTUAL ADVERBS: TOWARDS AN ANALYSIS OF ROMANIAN MAI MARTA DONAZZAN, ALEXANDRU MARDALE Abstract. This paper is concerned with the semantics of the Romanian adverb mai in its occurrence as a VP-modifier. We propose that mai has the core meaning of an additive particle whose argument is a predicate of events. Following this monosemic analysis, we are able to explain the different interpretations of mai (its continuative, iterative and 'experiential' readings) by considering the aspectual information of the sentence and the structural properties of the predicate. Our claim is also supported by a comparison with additive and aspectual adverbs in Italian.

Postmodifiers as Intensifiers in Romanian Adjectival Phrases
Annals of the University of Craiova, Series Philology, Linguistics XXXVII/1-2, 288-303., 2015
The aim of the present paper is very modest: I propose to uncover some of the properties of those Romanian adjectival phrases in which the postmodifier, functioning as an intensifier, is expressed by an adverbial noun in singular. The interest is both in adjectival phrases such as ud leoarcă ‘very wet’, gol puşcă ‘completely naked’, or singur cuc ‘completely alone/lonely’, as well as in participial structures such as îngheţat bocnă ‘frozen solid’, beat turtă ‘very drunk’, or supărat foc ‘very angry/upset’. The discussion also extends to some comparisons between the canonical absolute superlative and these phrases with superlative value.
The development of adjective and adverb grading in Romanian
Diacronia, 2015
The comparison of adjectives and adverbs has been described following the directions of evolution in Vulgar Latin, as well as the integrative trends in the context of the Romance languages, but without a detailed analysis. Leaving apart the theoretical goals, the present study is based on an updated understanding of the concepts involved in the category of grading, according to which it describes language constructions in the first three centuries texts. The main goal was giving examples of language constructions for the following types and subtypes of structures and elements: degrees of intensity (positive, intensive and absolute superlative), degrees of comparison (comparative of equality, comparative of superiority, comparative of inferiority and relative superlative); comparative semi-adverbs and means of expressing the comparative adverbial, as well as the extension of this syntactic position at the complex sentence level. After pointing out some regressive experiments, we tried to make a detailed and thorough correlation between the norms in the periods that were studied and the norm of contemporary standard Romanian.
