There is scanty information about the practices of higher education teachers in integrating intercultural communicative competence (ICC) in language teaching particularly to the Purposive Communication course. Given this gap, this research sought to explore and study teachers’ level of ICC integration, and the ways on how they integrate it to their classes, through mixed-methods, particularly sequential explanatory design. The study employed the initial gathering of quantitative data through surveying Purposive Communication teachers and students in all state universities and colleges in three provinces and refining and explaining these data in the qualitative phase, which included the interview with teachers and students and the content analysis of learning materials used in the course. Viewpoints of Intercultural Competence Development in English Language Teaching/Learning Classroom

The article presents an analysis of viewpoints on the development of intercultural competence in the English language teaching/learning classroom. Intercultural competence, acknowledged as the key component of foreign language studies, increases the need to adapt teaching methods and materials to raise learners' cultural awareness. The following research problem is formulated: how schoolchildren's intercultural competence is developed at schools during English language classes and what the preconditions of its improvement are. Based on the survey carried out at secondary schools and gymnasiums, the article presents the findings on the ninth and tenth formers' viewpoints regarding the extent to which cultural activities are incorporated into their English language classroom. The respondents' answers indicated that the present practices for the development of intercultural competence in the English language classroom are not sufficient. A conclusion is made that the English language teaching/ learning process should be more purposefully aimed at developing all the dimensions of learners' intercultural competence.

Teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) are among the instructors responsible for the development of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) in learners. Preparing students to interact in a global, multilingual and multicultural world is not an easy task, as ICC is a complex concept and teachers need both training and instruction to firstly develop it themselves and then apply it in their teaching. The article deals with the idea of accepting of the process of foreign language learning as means of student's intercultural competence promoting at high schools, which is considered very important nowadays for their future. The Council of Europe has already included intercultural competence in the list of competencies that are important for the successful realization and adaptation of future professionals studying in any field in the modern information society and working conditions. The theoretical background of this issue has been examined including the content of teaching material: authentic materials and their pros and cons have been thoroughly analyzed. English language teachers have a great opportunity to contribute in intercultural development of the society in bringing up young generation that will be able to live successfully and work with the representatives of all cultures. Developing learners' intercultural competence in English language learning classroom
this article aims to investigate the most common intercultural commination in learning classroom different theoretical views from linguists. This article is a theoretically including concepts of intercultural, two different approaches that representing in the classroom learning. How intercultural competence, has devised a model to develop an integrated didactics of intercultural linguistic competences. In general, globalization has found that its way into schools and one of teaching the tasks of education, is to prepare students for this globalized world. An intercultural approach to language teaching gives one outlook on how this this can achieve.
The Role of Intercultural Competence in Foreign Language Teaching

In recent years there has been a growing interest in the cultural dimension of foreign language education, and teachers today are expected to promote the acquisition of intercultural competence in their learners. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the opinions and attitudes of Iranian teachers of English on intercultural competence teaching and to see how and to what extent these opinions and attitudes are reflected in their classroom application data were selected from 50 EFL teachers by mean of questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of four parts that investigate the teachers' attitudes and opinions. Date for present study, which was descriptive. Two statistics were used, if so, one sample t-test can be used, otherwise the chi-square test can applicable. The result of one sample t-test revealed that language teachers seem to be aware of the role of the culture in foreign language education though they do not often integrate culture into their teaching in order to develop intercultural competence in their learners. In overall, Iranian EFL teachers had positive attitude toward teaching culture in the classroom.
An Investigation into English Language Instructors' and Students' Intercultural Awareness

The role of English as a global language has been increasing greatly in importance for the past few decades, giving rise to different varieties of English spoken by native and non-native English speakers all around the world. It has pointed to the need to raise intercultural awareness in English language classes. This study aims to reveal teacher and student perspectives of intercultural awareness regarding ownership of English and cultural integration in English language classes in Turkey. A mixed method research investigation was used in this descriptive case study. Questionnaires were employed to collect data from 45 English language instructors and 92 English language students. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight English language instructors, and focus group interviews were conducted with 24 English language students. The quantitative data was analyzed via SPSS 20 and the qualitative data was analyzed via NVivo 10.0 qualitative data software. The findings revealed that while both instructors and students seemed to be aware of the importance of intercultural awareness in English language teaching, their perspectives didn't indicate a thorough intercultural point of view. The findings yielded several significant implications including the need to develop an intercultural curriculum, textbook, and teacher training programs to enhance intercultural awareness in English language teaching and learning process.
