Cost Parameters of Green Residential Buildings in Pune, India

Various studies have been performed on cost impacts and impact parameters in Green Buildings against the conventional ones. Most of the studies include commercial buildings prioritizing energy and water related impacts while fewer studies are done on residential scale. This paper attempts to study the residential side of Green. Green certification and rating programs define the greenness quotient for a project with their predefined parameters. These parameters and their standards can be linked directly for their cost impact. In India, Pune is one of the pioneer cities with respect to the number and coverage of green building footprint. All the pertinent ratings of the country appreciate its prominent presence in Pune city with the advantages of applicable municipal incentives. This paper aims to determine and analyse the cost incremental factors for the certified green residential buildings in Pune against the conventional buildings. It will also determine the incremental percentage or the monetary value which impact the project cost. For the study, certified green projects from Pune are considered with at actual data pertaining to the project. The analysis is aimed for the overall effective resultant of cost incremental or decremental factors with the cost benefit analysis. Further a factor analysis is carried out for a survey conducted for the buyers with their approach to green buildings and cost associated.
Green Building Rating system in India & Studying the long-term effectiveness of Green building
The building sector is one of the biggest consumers of electricity in India [1] ; it is also the largest generator of CO2 emission & one of the highest consumers of water in India. This is the basic reason why Green building movement comes to India so that we can minimise the environment effect caused by the construction activity in India. Green buildings have potential to reduce up to 34 percent lower CO2 emissions, consume 25 percent less energy and 11 percent less water, and have diverted more than 80 million tonnes of waste from landfills [2]. The author of this paper has studied different rating systems in India & the sustainability of the green buildings in India. The paper goes beyond Green building rating system and gives a thought to the understanding of embedded emission and operational emission. The author of the paper gives an idea of not only Green Building but also a sustainable green building by Post occupancy evaluation.
Green Ratings of Residential Buildings: Survey, Analysis and Suggestions

Usage of natural things deriving from human activities is increasing day by day acting against the standard of the environment and sustainable use of natural resources. Human interference has caused an adverse effect on the environment. Construction activity has caused a serious impact on the environment. To reduce these problems people are moving to eco-friendly practices. Today, there is a large level of demand for sustainable buildings. With the increase in demand for green buildings, the demand for Green Building Rating System (GBRS) is also increasing. Hence, it is considered an attempt to check the status of green building growth in India. This paper includes the Objective, Methodology, and Study process adopted for criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) to improve the performance of residential buildings in the Sangli and Kolhapur region, suggestions, and the expected conclusion. The analysis of residential buildings is done as per the criteria of the SVAGRIHA rating system. After that suitable suggestions are given to residential buildings and a cost comparison of green buildings and residential buildings is done. This research helps the builders to consider the criteria of the Green Building Rating System (GBRS) for residential buildings during the planning phase of the project. This will lead to the development of a sustainable world.

This study is specially designated for a building that is designed and created as a conventional building. This Analysis understands the selling price of greening existing buildings before upgrading the building into a sustainable building. The upkeep and operational price are conjointly computed. This study targeted the economic edges and environmental edges once the building is remolded into a Green building.
Analysing Market Feasibility of Residential Green Buildings in Tier-II Cities in India

Economic sustainability of green buildings: a comparative analysis of green vs non-green

Purpose-In Sri Lanka, a limited number of buildings have been certified for incorporation of green features and the reasons are attributed to green building investors who continue to perceive that green buildings are expensive. Further, the green building investors fail to appreciate the subsequent benefits received by those buildings during the operational phase. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare the life cycle cost (LCC) of green certified industrial manufacturing buildings with a similar form of the conventional buildings to establish the economic sustainability of green buildings. Design/methodology/approach-The study involved a comparative case study analysis of two green buildings and a similar natured conventional building. The data required to perform the LCC analysis were extracted through documentary analysis. Findings-The comparative analysis shows that the construction cost of a green industrial manufacturing building is 37 per cent higher than that of a similar natured conventional building while operation, maintenance and the end life cost of green buildings result in 28, 22 and 11 per cent savings, respectively. This results in an overall cost saving of 21 per cent in green buildings. Originality/value-The current study provides an assessment of the total LCC of green industrial manufacturing buildings. In Sri Lanka, green industrial manufacturing buildings offer LCC saving of 21 per cent over its lifetime compared to similar natured conventional buildings. Thus, comparative analyses would enable green investors to make informed decisions before commissioning their investment in green facilities and thereby promote sustainable construction in Sri Lanka.

Green building rating systems (GBRS) result in energy-efficient and environment-friendly buildings. They not only preventpollution and resource wastage during construction ; but also uphold high indoor air quality, energy and water efficiencies throughout the building life-cycle. The economic growth of Indian cities has led to hasty construction activities causing resource challenges, air pollution and congestion. The aim of the paper is to find the greenest building in the National Capital Region (NCR) ,which can be a benchmark building for the new buildings in the region. The paper presents the case study of two greenest buildings in the NCR from the two different GBRS; and also compare their attributes and rating systems. The paper inferscritical energy efficiency, air quality and water efficiency attributes of these benchmark buildings much needed in rapidly growing cities like NCR.

Green building technology is one of the most trending topics all over the world which is been put forward to reduce the significant impact of the construction industry on the environment, society and economy. The globe is in an urgent need of sustainable and a smart development as the problem of pollution and global warming is rapidly increasing all over the world. A drastic climatic changes also been noticed and being experienced all over the world due to increase in the Green House Gases (GHG's). This paper suggest some methods to opt the concept of green building without with minimum changes in cost needed for construction as compared to the conventional building. Also, it includes the sustainable and economic studies with references to the Indian contexts with a supporting live recent case study of a newly designed and constructed luxurious residential bungalow in a small town in India. The case study is specially selected as a residential building which is designed and constructed as a sustainable and a green structure. Increase efficiency in life cycle cost of building with the help of green building materials is the main motive of this research. This research study is related to selection of materials, which take less cost with same material properties after analysis of materials with the help of Revit software. This research study compares normal building and green building in construction and operational phase. This research will also helpful to find out how much extra cost required to construct green building and how much cost saves in energy consumption in life cycle period of green building.
